1 Chronicles 27

1 This is the list of the Israelites—the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in every matter concerning the divisions on rotating military duty each month throughout the year. There were 24,000 men in each division:

1 El ejército israelita fue dividido en doce regimientos, cada uno con veinticuatro mil soldados, incluyendo oficiales y personal administrativo. Estas unidades recibían el llamado para prestar servicio activo durante un mes al año. La que sigue es la lista de unidades y sus comandantes en jefe:

2 Jashobeam son of Zabdiel was in charge of the first division, which was assigned the first month. There were 24,000 men in his division.

2–3 A cargo de la primera división estaba Yasobeán hijo de Zabdiel, de la familia de Fares. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el primer mes de cada año.

3 He was a descendant of Perez and chief of all the army commanders for the first month.

4 Dodai the Ahohite was in charge of the division for the second month, and Mikloth was the leader. There were 24,000 men in his division.

4 El jefe de la segunda división era Doday el ajojita. Tenía a su cargo veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban servicio el segundo mes de cada año. Miclot actuaba como ayudante.

5 The third army commander, as chief for the third month, was Benaiah son of Jehoiada the priest. There were 24,000 men in his division.

5–6 El jefe de la tercera división era Benaías, hijo del sumo sacerdote Joyadá. Sus veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el tercer mes de cada año. Benaías fue uno de los treinta valientes y jefe de ellos. Su hijo Amisabad formaba parte de esta división.

6 This Benaiah was mighty among the Thirty and was over the Thirty, and his son Ammizabad was in charge of his division.

7 The fourth, for the fourth month, was Joab’s brother Asahel, and his son Zebadiah was commander after him. There were 24,000 men in his division.

7 El jefe de la cuarta división era Asael, hermano de Joab, el que posteriormente fue reemplazado por su hijo Zebadías. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el cuarto mes de cada año.

8 The fifth, for the fifth month, was the commander Shamhuth the Izrahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

8 El jefe de la quinta división fue Samut el izraíta, con veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el quinto mes de cada año.

9 The sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

9 El jefe de la sexta división fue Irá hijo de Iqués, de Tecoa. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el sexto mes de cada año.

10 The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez the Pelonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

10 El jefe de la séptima división era Heles el pelonita, de la tribu de Efraín, con veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el séptimo mes de cada año.

11 The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbecai the Hushathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

11 El jefe de la octava división era Sibecay de Jusá, descendiente de los zeraítas. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el octavo mes de cada año.

12 The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer the Anathothite, a Benjamite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

12 El jefe de la novena división era Abiezer, de Anatot, de la tribu de Benjamín, el cual comandaba veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el noveno mes de cada año.

13 The tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai the Netophathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

13 El jefe de la décima división era Maray de Netofa, descendiente de los zeraítas, con veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el décimo mes de cada año.

14 The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah the Pirathonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

14 El jefe de la undécima división era Benaías, de Piratón, descendiente de Efraín, con veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio durante el undécimo mes de cada año.

15 The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Heldai the Netophathite, from the family of Othniel. There were 24,000 men in his division.

15 El jefe de la duodécima división era Jelday de Netofa, descendiente de Otoniel. Comandaba veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio durante el duodécimo mes de cada año.

16 These officers were in charge of the tribes of Israel: Over the Reubenites was Eliezer son of Zichri; over the Simeonites was Shephatiah son of Maacah;

16–22 A cargo de las tribus de Israel estaban los siguientes: Jefe de la tribu de Rubén, Eliezer hijo de Zicrí; de Simeón, Sefatías hijo de Macá; de Leví, Jasabías hijo de Quemuel; de los descendientes de Aarón, Sadoc; de Judá, Eliú, hermano del rey David; de Isacar, Omrí hijo de Micael; de Zabulón, Ismaías hijo de Abdías; de Neftalí, Jerimot hijo de Azriel; de Efraín, Oseas hijo de Azazías; de la media tribu de Manasés, Joel hijo de Pedaías; de la otra mitad de Manasés, en Galaad, Idó hijo de Zacarías; de Benjamín, Jasiel hijo de Abner; y de Dan, Azarel hijo de Jeroán.

17 over Levi was Hashabiah son of Kemuel; over Aaron was Zadok;

18 over Judah was Elihu, one of David’s brothers; over Issachar was Omri son of Michael;

19 over Zebulun was Ishmaiah son of Obadiah; over Naphtali was Jerimoth son of Azriel;

20 over the Ephraimites was Hoshea son of Azaziah; over one of the half-tribes of Manasseh was Joel son of Pedaiah;

21 over the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead was Iddo son of Zechariah; over Benjamin was Jaasiel son of Abner;

22 and over Dan was Azarel son of Jeroham. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.

23 David did not count the men aged twenty or under, because the LORD had said that He would make Israel as numerous as the stars of the sky.

23 Cuando David hizo el censo, no incluyó a los hombres de veinte años para abajo, porque el Señor le había prometido multiplicar a Israel como las estrellas del cielo.

24 Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. For because of this census wrath came upon Israel, and the number was not entered in the Book of the Chronicles of King David.

24 Joab comenzó la labor del censo, pero nunca la terminó, porque la ira de Dios se desató sobre Israel; por consiguiente, el total final nunca se insertó en los anales del rey David.

25 Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouses. Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the storehouses in the country, in the cities, in the villages, and in the fortresses.

25 Azmávet hijo de Adiel era el funcionario que tenía a su cargo las tesorerías del palacio, y Jonatán hijo de Uzías estaba a cargo de las tesorerías regionales a través de las ciudades, pueblos y fortalezas de Israel.

26 Ezri son of Chelub was in charge of the workers in the fields who tilled the soil.

26 Ezri hijo de Quelub era el encargado de los agricultores que trabajaban en las fincas del rey.

27 Shimei the Ramathite was in charge of the vineyards. Zabdi the Shiphmite was in charge of the produce of the vineyards for the wine vats.

27 Simí de Ramat tenía a su cargo la vigilancia de los viñedos del rey; Zabdí de Sefán tenía la responsabilidad sobre la producción del vino y su almacenamiento.

28 Baal-hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and sycamore trees in the foothills. Joash was in charge of the stores of olive oil.

28 Baal Janán de Guéder era responsable de las plantaciones de olivos y de los bosques de sicómoro del rey en los llanos, frente a la frontera con los filisteos. Joás tenía a su cargo el abastecimiento de aceite de oliva.

29 Shitrai the Sharonite was in charge of the herds grazing in Sharon. Shaphat son of Adlai was in charge of the herds in the valleys.

29 Sitray de Sarón estaba a cargo del ganado en las planicies de Sarón. Safat hijo de Adlay tenía a su cargo el ganado que estaba en los valles.

30 Obil the Ishmaelite was in charge of the camels. Jehdeiah the Meronothite was in charge of the donkeys.

30 Obil, del territorio de Ismael, tenía a su cargo los camellos. Jehedías de Meronot tenía a su cargo los burros.

31 Jaziz the Hagrite was in charge of the flocks. All these officials were in charge of King David’s property.

31 Las ovejas estaban bajo el cuidado de Jaziz el agareno. Los hombres antes mencionados eran administradores de los bienes del rey David.

32 David’s uncle Jonathan was a counselor; he was a man of insight and a scribe. Jehiel son of Hachmoni attended to the sons of the king.

32 Jonatán, tío de David, hombre sabio y bien preparado, era consejero del rey. Jehiel, hijo de Jacmoní, estaba encargado del cuidado de los hijos del rey.

33 Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

33 Ajitofel era también consejero oficial del rey. Husay el arquita era su consejero privado.

34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada son of Benaiah, then by Abiathar. Joab was the commander of the king’s army.

34 Joyadá hijo de Benaías, y Abiatar, eran ayudantes de Ajitofel. Joab era el jefe de todo el ejército israelita.
