2 Chronicles 27

1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

1 Jotão tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando se tornou rei e reinou por dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe se chamava Jerusa, filha de Zadoque.

2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done. In addition, he did not enter the temple of the LORD. But the people still behaved corruptly.

2 Ele fez o que era bom aos olhos do Senhor e seguiu o exemplo de seu pai Uzias, mas não invadiu o templo do Senhor. Mesmo assim o povo continuou com suas práticas corruptas.

3 Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD, and he worked extensively on the wall at the hill of Ophel.

3 Jotão construiu a porta Superior do templo do Senhor e também fez grandes reparos nos muros sobre o monte Ofel.

4 He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.

4 Ele construiu cidades na região montanhosa de Judá e edificou fortalezas e torres nas montanhas onde havia florestas.

5 Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them, and that year they gave him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years.

5 A guerra que realizou contra os amonitas foi bem-sucedida, de maneira que durante os três anos seguintes ele recebeu deles um imposto anual de três toneladas e meia de prata, dez mil barris de trigo e dez mil de cevada.

6 So Jotham grew powerful because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.

6 O rei Jotão se tornou cada vez mais poderoso porque seguiu cuidadosamente o caminho de Senhor, o seu Deus.

7 As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

7 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Jotão, incluindo suas guerras e suas outras atividades, estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel e de Judá.

9 And Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Ahaz reigned in his place.

9 Jotão morreu e foi enterrado com os seus antepassados na Cidade de Davi. E seu filho Acaz se tornou o novo rei.
