2 Chronicles 31

1 When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars, chopped down the Asherah poles, and tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his own property.

1 Depois do término da celebração, começou uma grande campanha contra a adoração de imagens. Todos aqueles que estiveram em Jerusalém para a festa da Páscoa saíram pelas cidades de Judá, de Benjamim, de Efraim e de Manassés e derrubaram os altares idólatras, as colunas, as imagens de Aserá e outros lugares de adoração de deuses falsos. Então as pessoas que tinham vindo das tribos do norte para a festa da Páscoa voltaram de novo aos seus lares.

2 Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—for the burnt offerings and peace offerings, for ministry, for giving thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.

2 Ezequias organizou os sacerdotes e os levitas por turnos de serviço para oferecer os sacrifícios queimados e as ofertas de paz, e para adorar, dar graças e louvor ao Senhor, junto às portas da habitação do Senhor.

3 The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.

3 O rei também fez pessoalmente uma contribuição de animais para as ofertas queimadas todos os dias pela manhã e à tarde, bem como para os sacrifícios de sábado, que se realizavam todas as semanas, para as festas das luas novas que se realizavam todos os meses, e para as festas realizadas uma vez por ano, conforme mandava a Lei do Senhor.

4 Moreover, he commanded the people living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.

4 Além disso, ele exigiu que o povo de Jerusalém trouxesse suas contribuições e dízimos aos sacerdotes e levitas, de maneira que eles não precisassem de outro emprego, mas pudessem entregar-se totalmente aos seus deveres religiosos, conforme era exigido na Lei do Senhor.

5 As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously provided the firstfruits of the grain, new wine, oil, and honey, and of all the produce of the field, and they brought in an abundance—a tithe of everything.

5 O povo respondeu sem demora e de maneira generosa, trazendo os primeiros frutos de suas colheitas de cereais, do vinho novo, do azeite de oliva, do mel e tudo mais que os campos produziam. Trouxeram o dízimo de tudo que possuíam, e era uma grande quantidade.

6 And the Israelites and Judahites who lived in the cities of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks and a tithe of the holy things consecrated to the LORD their God, and they laid them in large heaps.

6 Os habitantes de Israel e de Judá que moravam nas cidades de Judá também trouxeram o dízimo de seu gado e de ovelhas e das coisas consagradas ao Senhor. Empilharam tudo em grandes montões.

7 In the third month they began building up the heaps, and they finished in the seventh month.

7 Começaram a amontoar as ofertas no terceiro mês e terminaram no sétimo.

8 When Hezekiah and his officials came and viewed the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.

8 Quando Ezequias e seus oficiais viram essas enormes pilhas de ofertas, bendisseram o Senhor e abençoaram Israel, o seu povo!

9 Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and Levites about the heaps,

9 “De onde veio tudo isto?”, perguntou Ezequias aos sacerdotes e aos levitas.

10 and Azariah, the chief priest of the household of Zadok, answered him, “Since the people began to bring their contributions into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and there is plenty left over, because the LORD has blessed His people; this great abundance is what is left over.”

10 E o sumo sacerdote Azarias, da família de Zadoque, respondeu: “Desde que o povo começou a trazer todas estas ofertas ao templo do Senhor, estamos comendo desses alimentos armazenados, mas ainda há muita sobra, porque o Senhor abençoou o seu povo, e ainda sobrou esta grande parte”.

11 Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare storerooms in the house of the LORD, and they did so.

11 Então Ezequias mandou preparar despensas no templo do Senhor, o que foi feito.

12 And they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes, and dedicated gifts. Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second.

12 Todas as ofertas e dízimos consagrados foram trazidos à casa do Senhor. Conanias, o levita, ficou encarregado dessa tarefa, e seu irmão Simei era o seu auxiliar.

13 Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and his brother Shimei, by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah the chief official of the house of God.

13 Jeiel, Azazias, Naate, Asael, Jerimote, Jozabade, Eliel, Ismaquias, Maate e Benaia eram supervisores subordinados a Conanias e ao seu irmão Simei. Essas nomeações foram feitas pelo rei Ezequias e pelo sumo sacerdote Azarias, o encarregado do templo de Deus.

14 Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions to the LORD and the consecrated gifts.

14 Coré, filho de Imna, o levita, que era o guarda da porta Oriental, ficou encarregado de distribuir as ofertas voluntárias feitas a Deus; ele distribuía as ofertas dedicadas ao Senhor e as coisas santíssimas.

15 Under his authority, Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah faithfully distributed portions to their fellow priests in their cities, according to their divisions, old and young alike.

15 Seus fiéis auxiliares eram Éden, Miniamim, Jesua, Semaías, Amarias e Secanias, que distribuíam as ofertas às famílias dos sacerdotes em suas próprias cidades, fazendo a distribuição por igual, de acordo com seus turnos, tanto aos jovens como aos idosos.

16 In addition, they distributed portions to the males registered by genealogy who were three years of age or older—to all who would enter the house of the LORD for their daily duties for service in the responsibilities of their divisions—

16 Contudo, os sacerdotes que estavam de serviço no templo, bem como suas famílias, recebiam sua parte diretamente do depósito, como também todos os que entravam no templo do Senhor para realizar as diversas tarefas diárias, de acordo com o grupo a que pertenciam e o trabalho que faziam.

17 and to the priests enrolled according to their families in the genealogy, as well as to the Levites twenty years of age or older, according to their responsibilities and divisions.

17 Os sacerdotes estavam inscritos nos registros genealógicos de acordo com suas famílias; e os levitas de vinte anos de idade para cima estavam registrados sob os nomes de seus turnos de trabalho e suas responsabilidades.

18 The genealogy included all the little ones, wives, sons, and daughters of the whole assembly. For they had faithfully consecrated themselves as holy.

18 Nas listas também estavam os nomes das mulheres, dos filhos e filhas, isto é, da família inteira, pois os sacerdotes e os levitas tinham sido consagrados e estavam preparados para fazer seu trabalho sagrado.

19 As for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who lived on the farmlands around each of their cities or in any other city, men were designated by name to distribute a portion to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed by the genealogies.

19 Um dos sacerdotes, descendente de Arão, era indicado em cada uma das cidades dos sacerdotes e nas terras de pastagens ao redor das cidades para distribuir alimento e outras ofertas a todos os sacerdotes daquela região e a todos os levitas que estavam registrados.

20 So this is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what was good and upright and true before the LORD his God.

20 Deste modo, Ezequias controlou a distribuição em todo o Judá, fazendo o que era justo e direito perante o Senhor, o seu Deus.

21 He acted with all his heart in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law and the commandments, in order to seek his God. And so he prospered.

21 Ele se esforçou de todo o coração no serviço do templo de Deus e na obediência à Lei e aos mandamentos; e por isso teve bom êxito.
