2 Samuel 20

1 Now a worthless man named Sheba son of Bichri, a Benjamite, happened to be there, and he blew the ram’s horn and shouted: “We have no share in David, no inheritance in Jesse’s son. Every man to his tent, O Israel!”

1 वहां बिन्यामिन वंश में से बिकरी नामक व्यक्ति का शीबा नामक निकम्मा पुत्र था. उसने तुरही फूंकने पर यह घोषणा की, “दावीद में हमारा कोई भाग नहीं है, और न यिशै के पुत्र में कोई पैतृक संपत्ति! सुनो इस्राएल, लौट जाओ अपनी छावनी में!”

2 So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Sheba son of Bichri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

2 तब सभी इस्राएलियों ने दावीद का अनुसरण छोड़ दिया, और बिकरी के पुत्र शीबा का अनुसरण शुरू कर दिया; मगर यहूदियावासी यरदन नदी से येरूशलेम तक अपने राजा के साथ बने रहे.

3 When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to take care of the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.

3 येरूशलेम पहुंचकर दावीद ने अपने राजमहल में प्रवेश किया. राजा ने उन दस स्त्रियों को, जो उनकी उपपत्नियां थी, जिन्हें वह राजमहल की देखरेख के उद्देश्य से वहां छोड़ गए थे, एक पहरेदार की सुरक्षा में छोड़ दिया, और उनके पालन पोषण का उचित प्रबंध कर दिया; मगर अब उनसे कोई यौन संबंध न रखा; वे मृत्यु होने तक विधवा समान इसी स्थिति में सीमित रह गई.

4 Then the king said to Amasa, “Summon the men of Judah to come to me within three days, and be here yourself.”

4 तब राजा ने अमासा को आदेश दिया, “तीन दिन के भीतर यहूदिया मेरे सामने इकट्ठा करो, और तुम भी यहां रहना.”

5 So Amasa went to summon Judah, but he took longer than the time allotted him.

5 तब अमासा यहूदिया के सैनिकों को इकट्ठा करने निकल पड़ा, मगर उसे निर्धारित समय से अधिक देर हो गई.

6 And David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom. Take your lord’s servants and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and elude us.”

6 तब दावीद ने अबीशाई से कहा, “अब तो बिकरी का पुत्र शीबा अबशालोम की अपेक्षा हमारा कहीं अधिक नुकसान कर देगा. अपने स्वामी के सेवकों को लेकर उसका पीछा करो, कि वह गढ़ नगरों में प्रवेश न कर सके, और हमसे छिप जाए.”

7 So Joab’s men, along with the Cherethites, the Pelethites, and all the mighty men, marched out of Jerusalem in pursuit of Sheba son of Bichri.

7 तब योआब के साथ उसका पीछा करने निकल पड़े उनके साथ केरेथि, पेलेथी और अन्य शूर व्यक्ति भी अबीशाई के अगुवाई में बिकरी के पुत्र शीबा का पीछा उन्होंने येरूशलेम से शुरू किया.

8 And while they were at the great stone in Gibeon, Amasa joined them. Now Joab was dressed in military attire, with a dagger strapped to his belt. And as he stepped forward, he slipped the dagger from its sheath.

8 जब वे गिबयोन के विशाल चट्टान के निकट आए, अमासा उनसे भेंट करने आ पहुंचा. इस समय योआब युद्ध के लिए तैयार थे. उनकी कमर में कमरबंध कसा हुआ था, उनकी जांघ पर म्यान में एक तलवार भी थी. जब वह आगे बढ़े, तलवार गिर पड़ी.

9 “Are you well, my brother?” Joab asked Amasa. And with his right hand Joab grabbed Amasa by the beard to kiss him.

9 योआब ने अमासा से कहा, “मेरे भाई, सब कुछ कुशल तो है?” योआब ने यह कहते अमासा का चुंबन लेने के उद्देश्य से दाएं हाथ से उसकी दाढ़ी पकड़ी.

10 Amasa was not on guard against the dagger in Joab’s hand, and Joab stabbed him in the stomach and spilled out his intestines on the ground. And Joab did not need to strike him again, for Amasa was dead. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bichri.

10 इस समय अमासा का ध्यान उस तलवार पर न था, जो योआब के हाथ में थी. योआब ने अमासा के पेट में तलवार से ऐसा वार किया, कि दूसरा वार किए बिना ही उसकी अंतड़ियां बाहर निकल भूमि पर आ गिरी, कि उसकी मृत्यु हो गई. तब योआब और उनके भाई अबीशाई ने बिकरी के पुत्र शीबा का पीछा किया.

11 One of Joab’s young men stood near Amasa and said, “Whoever favors Joab, and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab!”

11 योआब के एक युवा सैनिक ने अमासा के निकट खड़े होकर घोषणा की, “जो कोई योआब के समर्थक हैं, जो कोई दावीद पक्ष में है, वह योआब का अनुसरण करे!”

12 But Amasa wallowed in his blood in the middle of the road, and when the man saw that all the troops were stopping there, he dragged the body off the road into a field and threw a garment over it.

12 अमासा इस समय प्रमुख मार्ग पर अपने रक्त में लोट रहा था. जब इस व्यक्ति ने देखा कि उस मार्ग से आते जाते सभी यात्री उसे देख वहीं ठहर जाते हैं, उसने अमासा को मार्ग पर से हटाकर खेत में रख दिया और उसे एक वस्त्र से ढांक दिया.

13 As soon as Amasa’s body was removed from the road, all the men went on with Joab to pursue Sheba son of Bichri.

13 जब मार्ग पर से अमासा को हटा दिया गया, तब सभी सैनिक बिकरी के पुत्र शीबा का पीछा करने योआब के साथ हो लिए.

14 Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel-beth-maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him.

14 जब शीबा इस्राएल राज्य के हर एक प्रदेश को पार करता हुआ बेथ-माकाह के आबेल पहुंचा, वहां सभी बिकरीवासी इकट्ठा होकर उसके पीछे-पीछे नगर में चले गए.

15 And Joab’s troops came and besieged Sheba in Abel-beth-maacah and built a siege ramp against the outer rampart of the city. As all the troops with Joab were battering the wall to topple it,

15 योआब के सभी साथी सैनिक वहां आ गए, और शीबा को बेथ-माकाह के आबेल में घेरा डाल दिया. इसके लिए उन्होंने नगर की दीवार के किनारे मिट्टी का ढेर इकट्ठा कर दिया. इसके बाद उन्होंने दीवार को तोड़ना शुरू कर दिया.

16 a wise woman called out from the city, “Listen! Listen! Please tell Joab to come here so that I may speak with him.”

16 तब एक नगर में से एक चतुर स्त्री ने पुकारते हुए कहा, “सुनो! सुनो! जाकर योआब से यह कहना, यहां आइए, कि मैं आपसे बात कर सकूं.”

17 When he had come near to her, the woman asked, “Are you Joab?” “I am,” he replied. “Listen to the words of your servant,” she said. “I am listening,” he answered.

17 तब योआब वहां आए और उस स्त्री ने उनसे पूछा, “क्या आप ही योआब हैं?” “हां, मैं हूं.” योआब ने उत्तर दिया. तब उस स्त्री ने उनसे कहा, “अपनी सेविका की सुन लीजिए.” योआब ने कहा, “मैं सुन रहा हूं.”

18 Then the woman said, “Long ago they used to say, ‘Seek counsel at Abel,’ and that is how disputes were settled.

18 तब उसने आगे कहा, “कुछ समय पहले यह कहा जाता था: ‘उन्हें यदि सलाह लेनी है’ तो सिर्फ आबेल ही से सलाह लो, इस प्रकार विवाद सुलझा लिया जाता था.

19 I am among the peaceable and faithful in Israel, but you are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the LORD’s inheritance?”

19 हम उनमें से हैं, जो इस्राएल में शांति प्रिय और सच्चे माने जाते हैं. आप एक ऐसे नगर को नष्ट करने के लिए उठे हैं, जो इस्राएल की माता है. आप याहवेह की मीरास को क्यों निगलना चाहते हैं?”

20 “Far be it!” Joab declared. “Far be it from me to swallow up or destroy!

20 योआब ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं ऐसा कभी भी नहीं करूंगा कि यह नगर नष्ट किया जाए!

21 That is not the case. But a man named Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him alone, and I will depart from the city.” “Look,” the woman replied, “his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”

21 स्थिति ऐसी नहीं है. मगर एफ्राईम के पहाड़ी क्षेत्र से बिकरी के शीबा नामक व्यक्ति ने राजा दावीद के विरुद्ध विद्रोह शुरू किया. बस, आप उसे हमें सौंप दें और मैं यहां से चला जाऊंगा.” उस स्त्री ने योआब को उत्तर दिया, “देखते रहिए, उसका सिर शहरपनाह से आपके सामने फेंका जाएगा.”

22 Then the woman went to all the people with her wise counsel, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. So he blew the ram’s horn and his men dispersed from the city, each to his own home. And Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.

22 तब वह स्त्री अपनी बुद्धिमत्तापूर्ण युक्ति के साथ नगर के सारी भीड़ के सामने पहुंची. परिणाम यह हुआ कि लोगों ने बिकरी के पुत्र शीबा का सिर उड़ाकर योआब के सामने फेंक दिया. तब योआब ने नरसिंगा फूंका और वे उस नगर से विसर्जित होकर अपने-अपने घर को लौट गए जबकि योआब राजा के पास येरूशलेम लौट गए.

23 Now Joab was over the whole army of Israel; Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites;

23 अब योआब इस्राएल की सारी सेना के प्रधान हो गए; केरेथियों और पेलेथियों के प्रधान यहोयादा के पुत्र बेनाइयाह थे;

24 Adoram was in charge of the forced labor; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;

24 बेगार के मजदूरों के अधिकारी थे अदोरम; अहीलूद के पुत्र यहोशाफ़ात लेखापाल थे;

25 Sheva was the scribe; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

25 शेवा सचिव थे; सादोक और अबीयाथर पुरोहित थे;

26 and Ira the Jairite was David’s priest.

26 और याईर वासी ईरा भी दावीद के पुरोहित थे.
