Ezekiel 1

1 In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the River Kebar, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God.

1 Certo dia, no quinto dia do quarto mês do trigésimo ano, eu, o sacerdote Ezequiel, estava entre os exilados, junto ao rio Quebar. E aconteceu que o céu se abriu de repente, e Deus me mostrou muitas visões.

2 On the fifth day of the month—it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin—

2 Isso ocorreu cinco anos depois de o rei Joaquim ter sido levado preso para a Babilônia.

3 the word of the LORD came directly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Kebar. And there the LORD’s hand was upon him.

3 A palavra do Senhor veio ao sacerdote Ezequiel, filho de Buzi, junto ao rio Quebar. E a mão do Senhor esteve sobre ele.

4 I looked and saw a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire was a gleam like amber,

4 Nessa visão, uma grande tempestade vinha do norte em minha direção. A tempestade empurrava uma grande nuvem, muito brilhante, carregada de fogo. Dentro da nuvem, no meio do fogo, havia algo que brilhava como bronze bem polido.

5 and within it was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had a human form,

5 Do centro dessa nuvem surgiram quatro criaturas semelhantes a seres viventes. A forma delas era de gente,

6 but each had four faces and four wings.

6 e cada criatura tinha quatro rostos e quatro asas!

7 Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, gleaming like polished bronze.

7 As suas pernas eram retas; seus pés tinham cascos de boi que brilhavam como se fossem de metal.

8 Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four living creatures had faces and wings,

8 Além disso, debaixo das suas asas eu pude ver mãos humanas. As quatro criaturas eram todas iguais, com rostos e asas,

9 and their wings were touching one another. They did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead.

9 e as asas de cada ser tocavam nas pontas das asas de outro ser; moviam-se sempre para a frente, sem se virarem.

10 The form of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and also the face of an eagle.

10 O primeiro rosto dessas criaturas era de homem; o rosto da direita era de leão, o da esquerda era de boi, e o de trás era rosto de águia.

11 Such were their faces. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching the wings of the creature on either side, and two wings covering its body.

11 Duas asas de cada criatura se abriam para cima e tocavam as asas das criaturas que estavam ao seu lado; e com as outras duas asas elas cobriam seus corpos.

12 Each creature went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they moved.

12 Elas se moviam na direção em que o Espírito queria, sempre para a frente, e sem se virar para os lados.

13 In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of glowing coals of fire, or of torches. Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.

13 As quatro criaturas eram brilhantes como brasas acesas, como uma tocha. Entre elas corria um fogo muito brilhante, do qual saíam relâmpagos e faíscas.

14 The creatures were darting back and forth as quickly as flashes of lightning.

14 As criaturas voavam em todas as direções, rápidas como relâmpagos.

15 When I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.

15 Depois de ter visto tudo isso, vi quatro rodas no chão, uma ao lado de cada criatura.

16 The workmanship of the wheels looked like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. Their workmanship looked like a wheel within a wheel.

16 As rodas pareciam feitas de um metal dourado e brilhante. Eram todas semelhantes, e parecia haver uma outra roda dentro de cada uma delas.

17 As they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without pivoting as they moved.

17 As rodas podiam andar em qualquer direção, sem precisar fazer curvas ou voltas.

18 Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around.

18 Os aros das rodas me deixaram impressionado porque eram altos, e estavam cheios de olhos ao seu redor.

19 So as the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.

19 Quando as criaturas se moviam para a frente, as rodas se moviam para a frente. Quando as criaturas subiam, as rodas também subiam.

20 Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

20 As criaturas e as rodas iam sempre na direção em que o Espírito queria.

21 When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

21 Quando as criaturas se moviam, as rodas também se moviam; bastava as criaturas pararem, para as rodas pararem também; e quando as criaturas se elevavam do chão, as rodas também se elevavam com elas, porque o mesmo Espírito que dirigia as criaturas, dirigia as rodas.

22 Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of an awesome expanse, gleaming like crystal.

22 Acima das criaturas, havia uma superfície brilhante como cristal, parecida com uma cobertura curva, reluzente como um cristal, que me deixou muito impressionado.

23 And under the expanse, their wings stretched out toward one another. Each one also had two wings covering its body.

23 As asas das criaturas estavam estendidas por debaixo daquela superfície e tocando umas nas outras. As outras duas asas de cada criatura cobriam seus corpos.

24 When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.

24 Quando elas voavam, o barulho de suas asas parecia o som das ondas do mar quebrando na praia; parecia a própria voz do Deus Todo-poderoso, de um tropel de um grande exército em marcha. Quando as criaturas paravam, abaixavam suas asas.

25 And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings lowered.

25 Eu ouvia uma voz que vinha daquela superfície brilhante acima das cabeças das criaturas, enquanto ficavam de asas fechadas.

26 Above the expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.

26 E, sobre essa superfície brilhante, havia alguma coisa parecida com um trono azul, feito de safira. Assentado no trono estava alguém que se parecia com um homem!

27 From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire within it all around. And from what seemed to be His waist down, I saw what looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him.

27 Da cintura para cima era brilhante como metal no meio do fogo; da cintura para baixo parecia feito de fogo puro, muito brilhante. Tudo em volta dele brilhava,

28 The appearance of the brilliant light all around Him was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.

28 com muitas cores, como o arco-íris nas nuvens de um dia chuvoso. Foi assim que eu vi a glória do Senhor. Ao ver tudo isso, caí por terra e escondi o meu rosto. Então ouvi a voz de alguém falando!
