Isaiah 20

1 Before the year that the chief commander, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it,

1 Katika mwaka ule ambao jemadari mkuu alitumwa na Mfalme Sargoni wa Ashuru, naye akaja mpaka Ashdodi, akaushambulia na kuuteka,

2 the LORD had already spoken through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, “Go, remove the sackcloth from your waist and the sandals from your feet.” And Isaiah did so, walking around naked and barefoot.

2 wakati ule Bwana alisema kwa kinywa cha Isaya mwana wa Amozi. Akamwambia, “Vua nguo ya gunia kutoka mwilini mwako na viatu kutoka miguuni mwako.” Naye akafanya hivyo, akatembea huku na huko uchi, bila viatu.

3 Then the LORD said, “Just as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and omen against Egypt and Cush,

3 Kisha Bwana akasema, “Kama vile mtumishi wangu Isaya alivyotembea uchi na bila viatu kwa miaka mitatu, kama ishara na dalili mbaya dhidi ya nchi ya Misri na Kushi,

4 so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, young and old alike, naked and barefoot, with bared buttocks—to Egypt’s shame.

4 vivyo hivyo mfalme wa Ashuru atawaongoza mateka wa Wamisri, na watu wa uhamisho wa Kushi, uchi na bila viatu, vijana hata wazee, wakiwa matako wazi, kwa aibu ya Wamisri.

5 Those who made Cush their hope and Egypt their boast will be dismayed and ashamed.

5 Wale waliotegemea Kushi na kujivunia Misri wataogopa na kuaibika.

6 And on that day the dwellers of this coastland will say, ‘See what has happened to our source of hope, those to whom we fled for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?’”

6 Katika siku ile watu wanaoishi katika pwani hii watasema, ‘Tazama lililowapata wale tuliowategemea, wale tuliowakimbilia kwa msaada na wokovu kutoka mikononi mwa mfalme wa Ashuru! Tutawezaje basi kupona?’”
