Isaiah 34

1 Come near, O nations, to listen; pay attention, O peoples. Let the earth hear, and all that fills it, the world and all that springs from it.

1 Venham, aproximem-se, nações e povos da terra! Venham ouvir o que eu tenho para anunciar. Escutem-me, a terra e tudo o que existe nela!

2 The LORD is angry with all the nations and furious with all their armies. He will devote them to destruction; He will give them over to slaughter.

2 O Senhor está terrivelmente irado com os povos da terra, furioso contra todos os seus exércitos. Ele vai destruir as nações completamente, como planejou.

3 Their slain will be left unburied, and the stench of their corpses will rise; the mountains will flow with their blood.

3 Seus mortos não serão enterrados, e o cheiro horrível de carne podre se espalhará por toda a terra. O sangue dos cadáveres vai escorrer pelas montanhas.

4 All the stars of heaven will be dissolved. The skies will be rolled up like a scroll, and all their stars will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like foliage from the fig tree.

4 Então os astros do céu vão se dissolver, o céu vai desaparecer como uma folha de papel que se enrola; todas as estrelas cairão como folhas secas da videira ou da figueira.

5 When My sword has drunk its fill in the heavens, then it will come down upon Edom, upon the people I have devoted to destruction.

5 A minha espada se embriagou nos céus; ela vai descer para julgar Edom, povo que eu condenei à destruição.

6 The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood. It drips with fat—with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

6 A espada do Senhor ficará manchada de sangue, cheia de carne e gordura, como se tivesse sido usada para matar ovelhas e cabritos para o sacrifício. Pois o Senhor realizará um grande sacrifício em Bozra, uma terrível matança na terra de Edom.

7 And the wild oxen will fall with them, the young bulls with the strong ones. Their land will be drenched with blood, and their soil will be soaked with fat.

7 Com eles também serão mortos os bois selvagens e os novilhos com os touros. A terra deles ficará ensopada de sangue; o solo ficará mais rico, de tanta gordura.

8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

8 Pois o Senhor terá o seu dia da vingança; esta é a hora de retribuir para defender a causa de Sião.

9 Edom’s streams will be turned to tar, and her soil to sulfur; her land will become a blazing pitch.

9 Os riachos de Edom vão se transformar em piche, e a terra vai ficar coberta de enxofre; a sua terra se tornará em betume ardente!

10 It will not be quenched—day or night. Its smoke will ascend forever. From generation to generation it will lie desolate; no one will ever again pass through it.

10 Esse terrível castigo não se apagará nem de dia nem de noite. A fumaça de Edom estará sempre subindo. Nunca mais haverá moradores em Edom. Ficará deserta para sempre, e ninguém voltará a passar por ela.

11 The desert owl and screech owl will possess it, and the great owl and raven will dwell in it. The LORD will stretch out over Edom a measuring line of chaos and a plumb line of destruction.

11 Lá viverão pelicanos e ouriços; as corujas e os corvos farão nela os seus ninhos. Deus condenou essa terra a viver sempre assim, deserta e destruída.

12 No nobles will be left to proclaim a king, and all her princes will come to nothing.

12 Deixarão de existir os nobres e os príncipes.

13 Her towers will be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers. She will become a haunt for jackals, an abode for ostriches.

13 Os palácios serão invadidos por espinheiros; as fortalezas serão cobertas por urtigas e cactos. Edom não passará de um esconderijo de chacais, de um lugar onde as avestruzes fazem seus ninhos.

14 The desert creatures will meet with hyenas, and one wild goat will call to another. There the night creature will settle and find her place of repose.

14 As feras do deserto vão se misturar às hienas; os bodes selvagens balirão uns para os outros. Ali os animais noturnos pousarão e acharão lugar para descansar.

15 There the owl will make her nest; she will lay and hatch her eggs and gather her brood under her shadow. Even there the birds of prey will gather, each with its mate.

15 Lá a coruja fará o seu ninho e chocará os seus ovos; ela cuidará de seus filhotes à sombra das suas asas. Em Edom os abutres vão se reunir para encontrar cada um o seu companheiro.

16 Search and read the scroll of the LORD: Not one of these will go missing, not one will lack her mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will gather them by His Spirit.

16 Procurem no livro do Senhor e leiam: Nenhum desses animais ficará faltando, todos estarão com os seus companheiros, seja macho ou fêmea. O Senhor mesmo prometeu isso, e o seu Espírito fará tudo acontecer.

17 He has allotted their portion; His hand has distributed it by measure. They will possess it forever; they will dwell in it from generation to generation.

17 O Senhor dividirá a terra de Edom e a repartirá entre os animais; eles a possuirão para sempre, de geração em geração.
