Jeremiah 36

1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

1 योशियाह के पुत्र यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम के राज्य-काल के चौथे वर्ष में येरेमियाह को याहवेह का यह संदेश भेजा गया:

2 “Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I first spoke to you during the reign of Josiah until today.

2 “जिस दिन से मैंने तुमसे बात करना प्रारंभ किया है, उसके पहले दिन से ही योशियाह के दिनों से लेकर आज तक मैंने तुमसे इस्राएल, यहूदिया तथा सारे राष्ट्रों के संबंध में जो कुछ कहा है, उसे एक चर्मपत्र कुण्डली लेकर उस पर मेरे सारे संदेश लिख डालो.

3 Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about all the calamity I plan to bring upon them, each of them will turn from his wicked way. Then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

3 यह संभव है कि यहूदाह के वंशज सारे विपत्ति के विषय में सुनेंगे, जो मैं उन पर प्रभावी करने की योजना बना रहा हूं; कि हर एक व्यक्ति इसे सुन अपनी संकट नीति से विमुख हो जाए और मैं उनकी अधर्मिता तथा उनके पाप को क्षमा कर दूं.”

4 So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and at the dictation of Jeremiah, Baruch wrote on a scroll all the words that the LORD had spoken to Jeremiah.

4 फिर येरेमियाह ने नेरियाह के पुत्र बारूख को बुलवाया. याहवेह द्वारा प्रगट हर एक संदेश को जैसे जैसे येरेमियाह बोलते गए, वैसे वैसे बारूख एक चर्मपत्र कुण्डली पर लिखता गया.

5 Then Jeremiah commanded Baruch, “I am restricted; I cannot enter the house of the LORD;

5 येरेमियाह ने बारूख को यह आदेश दिया, “मुझ पर प्रतिबन्ध लगाया गया है; इसलिये याहवेह के भवन में मेरा प्रवेश निषिद्ध है.

6 so you are to go to the house of the LORD on a day of fasting, and in the hearing of the people you are to read the words of the LORD from the scroll you have written at my dictation. Read them in the hearing of all the people of Judah who are coming from their cities.

6 इसलिये तुम्हें ही याहवेह के भवन में जाना होगा और उपवास के लिए निर्धारित दिवस पर तुम मेरे बोले हुए लेख द्वारा चर्मपत्र कुण्डली पर लिखे गए सारे वचन लोगों के समक्ष पढ़ देना. तुम्हें यही वचन उन लोगों के समक्ष भी पढ़ना होगा, जो यहूदिया के नगरों से वहां आएंगे.

7 Perhaps they will bring their petition before the LORD, and each one will turn from his wicked way; for great are the anger and fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”

7 संभव है उनकी बिनती याहवेह के समक्ष प्रस्तुत की जाए, हर एक व्यक्ति अपने अधर्म से विमुख हो जाए, क्योंकि प्रचंड है याहवेह का क्रोध एवं प्रकोप, जिसकी वाणी इन लोगों के विरुद्ध की जा चुकी है.”

8 So Baruch son of Neriah did everything that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him. In the house of the LORD he read the words of the LORD from the scroll.

8 नेरियाह के पुत्र बारूख ने येरेमियाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के आदेश का पूरी तरह पालन किया, उसने याहवेह के भवन में जाकर इस अभिलेख में से याहवेह के संदेश का वाचन किया.

9 Now in the ninth month of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a fast before the LORD was proclaimed to all the people of Jerusalem and all who had come there from the cities of Judah.

9 योशियाह के पुत्र यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम के राज्य-काल के पांचवें वर्ष के नवें माह में येरूशलेम के सभी निवासियों ने तथा यहूदिया के नगरों से वहां आए सभी निवासियों ने याहवेह के समक्ष उपवास रखे जाने की घोषणा की.

10 From the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, which was in the upper courtyard at the opening of the New Gate of the house of the LORD, Baruch read from the scroll the words of Jeremiah in the hearing of all the people.

10 तत्पश्चात बारूख ने याहवेह के भवन में लिपिक शापान के पुत्र गेमारियाह के कक्ष में, जो ऊपरी आंगन में था, याहवेह के भवन के नये प्रवेश द्वार के प्रवेश में खड़े होकर उपस्थित सारे जनसमूह के समक्ष येरेमियाह के अभिलेख के संदेश को पढ़ा.

11 When Micaiah son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the LORD from the scroll,

11 जब शापान के पौत्र गेमारियाह के पुत्र मीकायाह ने इस अभिलेख से याहवेह का संदेश सुना,

12 he went down to the scribe’s chamber in the king’s palace, where all the officials were sitting: Elishama the scribe, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials.

12 वह महलों में लिपिकों के कक्ष में चला गया. वहां उसने देखा कि वहां सारे अधिकारी बैठे हुए थे. लिपिक एलीशामा, शेमायाह का पुत्र देलाइयाह, अखबोर को पुत्र एल-नाथान, शापान का पुत्र गेमारियाह, हननियाह का पुत्र सीदकियाहू तथा अन्य सभी अधिकारी भी.

13 And Micaiah reported to them all the words he had heard Baruch read from the scroll in the hearing of the people.

13 मीकायाह ने उनके समक्ष उस अभिलेख से बारूख द्वारा लोगों के समक्ष पढ़ी गई संपूर्ण विषय-वस्तु दोहरा दी, जो वह स्वयं सुनकर आया था,

14 Then all the officials sent word to Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, saying, “Bring the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come here.” So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll and went to them.

14 इस पर सारे अधिकारियों ने कूशी के परपोते, शेलेमियाह के पोते, नेथनियाह के पुत्र, येहूदी को बारूख के लिए इस संदेश के साथ भेजा, “तुमने जिस चर्मपत्र कुण्डली से लोगों के समक्ष पढ़ा है, उसे लेकर यहां आ जाओ.” इसलिये नेरियाह का पुत्र बारूख उस चर्मपत्र कुण्डली को लेकर उनकी उपस्थिति में पहुंच गया.

15 “Please sit down,” they said, “and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.

15 उन्होंने उससे आग्रह किया, “कृपया बैठ जाओ और इसे हमें पढ़कर सुनाओ.” तब बारूख ने उसे उनके समक्ष पढ़ दिया.

16 When they had heard all these words, they turned to one another in fear and said to Baruch, “Surely we must report all these words to the king.”

16 जब उन्होंने संपूर्ण विषय-वस्तु सुन ली, तब वे भयभीत होकर एक दूसरे की ओर देखने लगे और उन्होंने बारूख से कहा, “निश्चयतः हम यह सब राजा को सूचित कर देंगे.”

17 “Tell us now,” they asked Baruch, “how did you write all these words? Was it at Jeremiah’s dictation?”

17 उन्होंने बारूख से यह भी पूछा, “हमें कृपा कर यह भी बताओ, यह सब तुमने लिखा कैसे? क्या यह येरेमियाह द्वारा बोली हुई बातों का लेख है?”

18 “It was at his dictation,” Baruch replied. “He recited all these words to me and I wrote them in ink on the scroll.”

18 तब बारूख ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “उन्होंने ही मुझे यह सारे वचन कहे हैं, जिन्हें मैंने स्याही से सूची में लिख दिया है.”

19 Then the officials said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah must hide yourselves and tell no one where you are.”

19 तब अधिकारियों ने बारूख को आदेश दिया, “तुम और येरेमियाह जाकर कहीं छिप जाओ और किसी को भी यह ज्ञात न होने पाए कि तुम कहां हो.”

20 So the officials went to the king in the courtyard. And having stored the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, they reported everything to the king.

20 अधिकारियों ने जाकर चर्मपत्र कुण्डली को लिपिक एलीशामा के कक्ष में सुरक्षित रख दिया और फिर राज्यसभा में जाकर राजा को चर्मपत्र कुण्डली में लिखित संपूर्ण विषय-वस्तु की सूचना दे दी.

21 Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing beside him.

21 राजा ने येहूदी को यह चर्मपत्र कुण्डली लाने का आदेश दिया, उसने जाकर इसे लिपिक एलीशामा के कक्ष से बाहर निकाल लिया. तब येहूदी ने राजा एवं राजा की उपस्थिति में खड़े सारे अधिकारियों के समक्ष चर्मपत्र कुण्डली अभिलेख पढ़ दिया.

22 Since it was the ninth month, the king was sitting in his winter quarters with a fire burning before him.

22 यह नवें माह का अवसर था और राजा अपने शीतकालीन आवास में विराजमान था; उसके समक्ष अंगीठी में अग्नि प्रज्वलित थी.

23 And as soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns, Jehoiakim would cut them off with a scribe’s knife and throw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll had been consumed by the fire.

23 जब येहूदी तीन अथवा चार अंश पढ़ लेता था, राजा उतने चर्मपत्र को लिपिक के चाकू से काटकर अंगीठी की अग्नि में डाल देता था, इस प्रकार होते-होते संपूर्ण चर्मपत्र कुण्डली अंगीठी की अग्नि में भस्म हो गई.

24 Yet in hearing all these words, the king and his servants did not become frightened or tear their garments.

24 इतना सब होने पर भी राजा तथा उसके सारे सेवकों पर कोई प्रभाव न पड़ा, न वे भयभीत हुए और न उनमें से किसी ने शोक में अपने वस्त्र ही फाड़े.

25 Even though Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.

25 यहां तक कि एल-नाथान, देलाइयाह तथा गेमारियाह, राजा से चर्मपत्र कुण्डली को दहन न करने का आग्रह करते रहे, राजा ने उनकी एक न सुनी.

26 Instead, the king commanded Jerahmeel, a son of the king, as well as Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them.

26 राजा ने राजपुत्र येराहमील को, आज़रियल के पुत्र सेराइयाह तथा अबदील के पुत्र शेलेमियाह को आदेश दिया, कि वे लिपिक बारूख को तथा भविष्यद्वक्ता येरेमियाह को पकड़ लें, किंतु इस समय वे याहवेह द्वारा छिपा दिए गए थे.

27 After the king had burned the scroll containing the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:

27 येरेमियाह के बोले हुए लेख जो बारूख द्वारा लिखित चर्मपत्र कुण्डली में था, जिसका दहन जब राजा यहोइयाकिम ने कर चुका, तब येरेमियाह को याहवेह का यह संदेश प्राप्‍त हुआ:

28 “Take another scroll and rewrite on it the very words that were on the original scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah has burned.

28 “अब एक नयी चर्मपत्र कुण्डली लो और उस पर वे ही संदेश लिपिबद्ध कर दो, जो उस चर्मपत्र कुण्डली पर लिखे गए थे, जिसको यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम द्वारा दहन कर दिया गया है.

29 You are to proclaim concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah that this is what the LORD says: You have burned the scroll and said, ‘Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon would surely come and destroy this land and deprive it of man and beast?’

29 यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम के विषय में तुम्हें यह कहना होगा, ‘यह याहवेह का संदेश है: तुमने तो यह कहते हुए चर्मपत्र कुण्डली का दहन कर दिया है, “तुमने इसमें ऐसा क्यों लिख दिया, कि बाबेल का राजा निश्चयतः आएगा तथा इस देश को ध्वस्त कर देगा तथा उस देश से मनुष्यों एवं पशुओं का अस्तित्व ही समाप्‍त हो जाएगा?”

30 Therefore this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He will have no one to sit on David’s throne, and his body will be thrown out and exposed to heat by day and frost by night.

30 इसलिये यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम के विषय में याहवेह की पूर्ववाणी यह है: दावीद के सिंहासन पर विराजमान होने के लिए उसका कोई भी वंशज नहीं रह जाएगा तथा उसका शव दिन की उष्णता तथा रात्रि के पाले में पड़ा रह जाएगा.

31 I will punish him and his descendants and servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the residents of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the calamity about which I warned them but they did not listen.”

31 मैं उसे, उसके वंशजों तथा उसके सेवकों को उनके अधर्म के लिए दंड भी दूंगा; मैं उन पर, येरूशलेम वासियों पर तथा यहूदिया की प्रजा पर वे सभी विपत्तियां प्रभावी कर दूंगा, जिनकी वाणी मैं कर चुका हूं, क्योंकि उन्होंने मेरी चेतावनियों की अवहेलना की है.’”

32 Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and at Jeremiah’s dictation he wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

32 तब येरेमियाह ने नेरियाह के पुत्र लिपिक बारूख को एक अन्य चर्मपत्र कुण्डली दी, जिस पर उसने येरेमियाह के बोले हुए वचन लिखे, इसमें उसने वे सभी संदेश पुनः लिख दिए, जो उस चर्मपत्र कुण्डली में लिखे थे, जिसे यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम ने अग्नि में दहन कर दिया था. इसके सिवा इसमें इसी प्रकार के अन्य संदेश भी सम्मिलित कर दिए गए.
