Jeremiah 45

1 This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:

1 Esta foi a mensagem que Jeremias deu a Baruque, filho de Nerias, no quarto ano de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, depois que Baruque terminou de escrever o rolo com as profecias de Jeremias, ditadas pelo profeta:

2 “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:

2 “Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, a você, Baruque:

3 You have said, ‘Woe is me because the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am worn out with groaning and have found no rest.’”

3 Você anda reclamando: ‘Pobre de mim! Será que já não tenho sofrido o bastante? Por que o Senhor ainda me dá mais esta tristeza? Já não aguento mais; é um fardo pesado demais para mim’.

4 Thus Jeremiah was to say to Baruch: “This is what the LORD says: Throughout the land I will demolish what I have built and uproot what I have planted.

4 Mas o Senhor manda-me dizer o seguinte a você, Baruque: ‘Assim diz o Senhor: Estou destruindo o que construí e arrancando o que plantei em toda esta terra.

5 But as for you, do you seek great things for yourself? Stop seeking! For I will bring disaster on every living creature, declares the LORD, but wherever you go, I will grant your life as a spoil of war.”

5 E você pensa em obter grandezas? Pare de pensar nisso! Vou trazer desgraça sobre toda a humanidade’, diz o Senhor, ‘mas deixarei você escapar com vida, esteja onde estiver’”.
