Jeremiah 6

1 “Run for cover, O sons of Benjamin; flee from Jerusalem! Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa; send up a signal over Beth-haccherem, for disaster looms from the north, even great destruction.

1 “बिन्यामिन के वंशजों, अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए, येरूशलेम में से पलायन करो! तकोआ नगर में नरसिंगा नाद किया जाए! तथा बेथ-हक्‍केरेम में संकेत प्रसारित किया जाए! उत्तर दिशा से संकट बड़ा है, घोर विनाश.

2 Though she is beautiful and delicate, I will destroy the Daughter of Zion.

2 ज़ियोन की सुंदर एवं सुरुचिपूर्ण, पुत्री को मैं नष्ट कर दूंगा.

3 Shepherds and their flocks will come against her; they will pitch their tents all around her, each tending his own portion:

3 चरवाहे एवं उनकी भेड़-बकरियां उसके निकट आएंगे; वे अपने तंबू उसके चारों ओर खड़े कर देंगे, उनमें से हर एक अपने-अपने स्थान पर पशुओं को चराएगा.”

4 ‘Prepare for battle against her; rise up, let us attack at noon. Woe to us, for the daylight is fading; the evening shadows grow long.

4 “उसके विरुद्ध युद्ध की तैयारी की जाए! उठो, हम मध्याह्न के अवसर पर आक्रमण करेंगे! धिक्कार है हम पर! दिन ढल चला है, क्योंकि संध्या के कारण छाया लंबी होती जा रही है.

5 Rise up, let us attack by night and destroy her fortresses!’”

5 उठो, अब हम रात्रि में आक्रमण करेंगे और हम उसके महलों को ध्वस्त कर देंगे!”

6 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Cut down the trees and raise a siege ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; there is nothing but oppression in her midst.

6 क्योंकि सेनाओं के याहवेह का यह आदेश है: “काट डालो उसके वृक्ष और येरूशलेम की घेराबंदी करो. आवश्यक है कि इस नगर को दंड दिया जाए; जिसके मध्य अत्याचार ही अत्याचार भरा है.

7 As a well gushes its water, so she pours out her evil. Violence and destruction resound in her; sickness and wounds are ever before Me.

7 जिस प्रकार कुंआ अपने पानी को ढालता रहता है, उसी प्रकार वह भी अपनी बुराई को निकालती रहती है. उसकी सीमाओं के भीतर हिंसा तथा विध्वंस का ही उल्लेख होता रहता है; मुझे वहां बीमारी और घाव ही दिखाई देते रहते हैं.

8 Be forewarned, O Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you; I will make you a desolation, a land without inhabitant.”

8 येरूशलेम, चेत जाओ, ऐसा न हो कि तुम मेरे हृदय से उतर जाओ तथा मैं तुम्हें उजाड़ स्थान बना डालूं जहां किसी भी मनुष्य का निवास न होगा.”

9 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand once more like a grape gatherer over the branches.”

9 यह सेनाओं के याहवेह की वाणी है: “जैसे गिरी हुई द्राक्षा भूमि पर से एकत्र की जाती है वैसे ही वे चुन-चुनकर इस्राएल के लोगों को एकत्र कर लेंगे; तब द्राक्ष तोड़नेवाले के सदृश द्राक्षलता की शाखाएं टटोल लो, कि शेष रह गई द्राक्षा को एकत्र कर सको.”

10 To whom can I give this warning? Who will listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

10 मैं किसे संबोधित करूं, किसे यह चेतावनी सुनाऊं कि वे इस पर ध्यान दें? आप ही देखिए उनके कान तो बंद हैं, सुनना उनके लिए असंभव है. यह भी देख लीजिए याहवेह का संदेश उनके लिए घृणास्पद बन चुका है; इसमें उनको थोड़ा भी उल्लास नहीं है.

11 But I am full of the LORD’s wrath; I am tired of holding it back. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be captured, the old and the very old alike.

11 मुझमें याहवेह का कोप समाया हुआ है, इसे नियंत्रित रखना मेरे लिए मुश्किल हुआ जा रहा है. “अपना यह कोप गली के बालकों पर उंडेल दो और उन एकत्र हो रहे जवानों की सभा पर; क्योंकि पति-पत्नी दोनों ही ले जा लिए जाएंगे, प्रौढ़ तथा अत्यंत वृद्ध भी.

12 Their houses will be turned over to others, their fields and wives as well, for I will stretch out My hand against the inhabitants of the land,” declares the LORD.

12 उनके आवास अपरिचितों को दे दिए जाएंगे, यहां तक कि उनकी पत्नियां एवं खेत भी, क्योंकि मैं अपना हाथ देशवासियों के विरुद्ध बढ़ाऊंगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

13 “For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.

13 “क्योंकि उनमें छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक, हर एक लाभ के लिए लोभी है; यहां तक कि भविष्यद्वक्ता से लेकर पुरोहित तक भी, हर एक अपने व्यवहार में झूठे हैं.

14 They dress the wound of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.

14 उन्होंने मेरी प्रजा के घावों को मात्र गलत उपचार किया है. वे दावा करते रहे, ‘शांति है, शांति है,’ किंतु शांति वहां थी ही नहीं.

15 Are they ashamed of the abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they will collapse,” says the LORD.

15 क्या अपने घृणास्पद कार्य के लिए उनमें थोड़ी भी लज्जा देखी गई? निश्चयतः थोड़ी भी नहीं; उन्हें तो लज्जा में गिर जाना आता ही नहीं. तब उनकी नियति वही होगी जो समावेश किए जा रहे व्यक्तियों की नियति है; जब मैं उन्हें दंड दूंगा, घोर होगा उनका पतन,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

16 This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’

16 याहवेह का संदेश यह है: “चौराहों पर जाकर ठहरो, वहां ठहर कर अवलोकन करो; और वहां प्राचीन काल मार्गों के विषय में ज्ञात करो, यह पूछ लो कि कौन सा है वह सर्वोत्तम मार्ग, और उसी पर चलो, तब तुम्हारे प्राण को चैन का अनुभव होगा. किंतु उन्होंने कहा, ‘हम उस पथ पर नहीं चलेंगे.’

17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen for the sound of the ram’s horn.’ But they answered, ‘We will not listen!’

17 तब मैंने इस विचार से तुम पर प्रहरी नियुक्त किए, ‘नरसिंगा नाद सुनो!’ किंतु उन्होंने हठ किया, ‘हम नहीं सुनेंगे.’

18 Therefore hear, O nations, and learn, O congregations, what will happen to them.

18 इसलिये राष्ट्रों, सुनो और यह जान लो; एकत्र जनसमूह, तुम भी यह समझ लो कि उनकी नियति क्या होगी.

19 Hear, O earth! I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their own schemes, because they have paid no attention to My word and have rejected My instruction.

19 पृथ्वी, तुम सुन लो: कि तुम इन लोगों पर लाया गया विनाश देखोगी, यह उन्हीं के द्वारा गढ़ी गई युक्तियों का परिणाम है, क्योंकि उन्होंने मेरे आदेश की अवज्ञा की है तथा उन्होंने मेरे नियमों को भी ठुकरा दिया है.

20 What use to Me is frankincense from Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me.”

20 क्या लाभ है उस लोहबान का जो मेरे लिए शीबा देश से लाया जाता है, तथा दूर देश से लाए गए सुगंध द्रव्य का? तुम्हारे बलियों से मैं खुश नहीं हूं, न तुम्हारे अर्पण से मैं प्रसन्‍न!”

21 Therefore this is what the LORD says: “I will lay stumbling blocks before this people; fathers and sons alike will be staggered; friends and neighbors will perish.”

21 इसलिये याहवेह की यह वाणी है: “यह देख लो कि मैं इन लोगों के पथ में ठोकर के लिए लक्षित पत्थर रख रहा हूं. उन्हें इन पत्थरों से ठोकर लगेगी, पिता और पुत्र दोनों ही; उनके पड़ोसी एवं उनके मित्र नष्ट हो जाएंगे.”

22 This is what the LORD says: “Behold, an army is coming from the land of the north; a great nation is stirred up from the ends of the earth.

22 यह याहवेह की वाणी है: “यह देखना, कि उत्तरी देश से एक जनसमूह आ रहा है; पृथ्वी के दूर क्षेत्रों में एक सशक्त राष्ट्र तैयार हो रहा है.

23 They grasp the bow and spear; they are cruel and merciless. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride upon horses, lined up like men in formation against you, O Daughter of Zion.”

23 वे धनुष एवं भाला छीन रहे हैं; वे क्रूर एवं सर्वथा कृपाहीन हैं. उनका स्वर सागर गर्जन सदृश है, तथा वे युद्ध के लिए तैयार घुड़सवारों के सदृश आ रहे हैं. ज़ियोन की पुत्री, तुम हो उनका लक्ष्य.”

24 We have heard the report; our hands hang limp. Anguish has gripped us, pain like that of a woman in labor.

24 इसकी सूचना हमें प्राप्‍त हो चुकी है, हमारे हाथ ढीले पड़ चुके हैं. प्रसव पीड़ा ने हमें अपने अधीन कर रखा है, वैसी ही पीड़ा जैसी प्रसूता की होती है.

25 Do not go out to the fields; do not walk the road. For the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.

25 न तो बाहर खेत में जाना न ही मार्ग पर निकल पड़ना, क्योंकि शत्रु तलवार लिए हुए है, सर्वत्र आतंक छाया हुआ है.

26 O daughter of my people, dress yourselves in sackcloth and roll in ashes. Mourn with bitter wailing, as you would for an only son, for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.

26 अतः मेरी पुत्री, मेरी प्रजा, शोक-वस्त्र धारण करो, भस्म में लोटो; तुम्हारा शोक वैसा ही हो जैसा उसका होता है जिसने अपना एकमात्र पुत्र खो दिया है, अत्यंत गहन शोक, क्योंकि हम पर विनाशक का आक्रमण सहसा ही होगा.

27 “I have appointed you to examine My people like ore, so you may know and try their ways.

27 “मैंने तुम्हें अपनी प्रजा के लिए परखने तथा जानने के लिए पारखी नियुक्त किया है, कि तुम उनकी जीवनशैली को परखकर जान लो.

28 All are hardened rebels, walking around as slanderers. They are bronze and iron; all of them are corrupt.

28 वे सब हठी और विद्रोही हैं, बदनाम करते फिरते हैं. वे ऐसे कठोर हैं जैसे कांस्य एवं लौह; वे सबके सब भ्रष्‍ट हो चुके हैं.

29 The bellows blow fiercely, blasting away the lead with fire. The refining proceeds in vain, for the wicked are not purged.

29 धौंकनियों ने भट्टी को अत्यंत गर्म कर रखा है, अग्नि ने सीसे को भस्म कर दिया है, शुद्ध करने की प्रक्रिया व्यर्थ ही की जा रही है; जिससे बुरे लोगों को अलग नहीं किया जा सका!

30 They are called rejected silver, because the LORD has rejected them.”

30 उन्हें खोटी चांदी कहा गया है, क्योंकि उन्हें याहवेह ने त्याग दिया है.”
