Judges 10

1 After the time of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose up to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.

1 अबीमेलेक की मृत्यु के बाद इस्साखार प्रदेश से दोदो के पोते, पुआह के पुत्र तोला का उदय इस्राएल के छुड़ानेवाले के रूप में हुआ. वह एफ्राईम के पहाड़ी इलाके के शामीर नगर का निवासी था.

2 Tola judged Israel twenty-three years, and when he died, he was buried in Shamir.

2 उसने तेईस वर्ष इस्राएल पर शासन किया, इसके बाद उसकी मृत्यु हो गई और शामीर में उसे गाड़ा गया.

3 Tola was followed by Jair the Gileadite, who judged Israel twenty-two years.

3 उसके बाद गिलआदवासी याईर का उदय हुआ. उसने बाईस वर्ष इस्राएल पर शासन किया.

4 He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys. And they had thirty towns in the land of Gilead, which to this day are called Havvoth-jair.

4 उसके तीस पुत्र थे, जो तीस गधों पर यात्रा करते थे. गिलआद प्रदेश में तीस नगर उनके अधिकार में थे. जो आज तक हव्वोथ-याईर नाम से मशहूर हैं.

5 When Jair died, he was buried in Kamon.

5 याईर की मृत्यु होने पर उसे कामोन में गाड़ा गया.

6 And again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. They served the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and Philistines. Thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.

6 इस्राएल के वंशजों ने दोबारा वही किया, जो याहवेह की नज़रों में गलत था. उन्होंने बाल तथा अश्तोरेथ, अराम के, सीदोन के, मोआब के, अम्मोन वंशजों के तथा फिलिस्तीनियों के देवताओं की सेवा-उपासना करना शुरू कर दिया. उन्होंने याहवेह को भुला दिया, और उनकी सेवा-वन्दना का त्याग कर दिया.

7 So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and Ammonites,

7 याहवेह का क्रोध इस्राएल पर भड़क उठा. याहवेह ने उन्हें फिलिस्तीनियों तथा अम्मोन वंशजों के हाथों में बेच दिया.

8 who that very year harassed and oppressed the Israelites, and they did so for eighteen years to all the Israelites on the other side of the Jordan in Gilead, the land of the Amorites.

8 उस पूरे साल वे इस्राएल वंशजों को सताते और पीसते रहे. वे गिलआद में यरदन के पार बसे हुए इस्राएल के वंशजों को अठारह वर्ष तक सताते रहे.

9 The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, and Israel was in deep distress.

9 अम्मोन वंशज यरदन पार कर यहूदिया, बिन्यामिन प्रदेश तथा एफ्राईम वंशजों से भी युद्ध करते रहे, इससे इस्राएल वंशज बहुत ही संकट में पड़ गए थे.

10 Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against You, for we have indeed forsaken our God and served the Baals.”

10 तब इस्राएल वंशजों ने याहवेह की दोहाई दी, “हमने आपके विरुद्ध पाप किया है. हमने वास्तव में अपने परमेश्वर को छोड़कर बाल देवताओं की सेवा-उपासना की है.”

11 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines,

11 याहवेह ने इस्राएल संतानों को उत्तर दिया, “क्या मैं ही वह न था, जिसने तुम्हें मिस्रियों, अमोरियों, अम्मोनियों तथा फिलिस्तीनियों की बंधुआई से,

12 Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites oppressed you and you cried out to Me, did I not save you from their hands?

12 और, जब सीदोनी, अमालेक तथा माओनी तुम्हें सता रहे थे, तुमने मेरी दोहाई दी, और क्या मैंने तुम्हें उनकी अधीनता से नहीं छुड़ाया?

13 But you have forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.

13 यह सब होने पर भी तुमने मुझे भुला दिया और अन्य देवताओं की सेवा-उपासना की, इस कारण अब मैं तुम्हें न छुड़ाऊंगा.

14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble.”

14 जाओ, उन्हीं देवताओं की दोहाई दो, जिन्हें तुमने अपने लिए चुन रखा है. उन्हें ही तुम्हें तुम्हारे संकट के अवसर पर सहायता करने दो.”

15 “We have sinned,” the Israelites said to the LORD. “Deal with us as You see fit; but please deliver us today!”

15 इस्राएल वंशजों ने याहवेह से विनती की, “हमने पाप किया है. हमारे साथ वही कीजिए, जो आपको सही लगे; मगर आज हमें कृपा कर छुटकारा दे दीजिए.”

16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.

16 उन्होंने अपने बीच से सारे पराए देवता हटा दिए और वे याहवेह की सेवा-वन्दना करने लगे. अब याहवेह से इस्राएल की दुर्दशा देखी न गई.

17 Then the Ammonites were called to arms and camped in Gilead, and the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.

17 वहां अम्मोन वंशजों को बुलाया गया और उन्होंने गिलआद में पड़ाव खड़े कर दिए. इस्राएल वंशज इकट्‍ठे हुए और उन्होंने मिज़पाह में पड़ाव खड़े किए.

18 And the rulers of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever will launch the attack against the Ammonites will be the head of all who live in Gilead.”

18 गिलआद के नायक आपस में विचार करने लगे: “कौन होगा वह व्यक्ति, जो अम्मोन वंशजों से युद्ध शुरू करेगा? वही बनेगा गिलआद वासियों का प्रधान.”
