Numbers 36

1 Now the family heads of the clan of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh, one of the clans of Joseph, approached Moses and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families and addressed them,

1 Entonces los dirigentes del subclan de Galaad (el clan de Maquir, de la tribu de Manasés, uno de los hijos de José) vinieron a Moisés ante los jefes de Israel con una petición:

2 saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.

2 ―El Señor dio orden de repartir la tierra por sorteo entre el pueblo de Israel —le recordaron a Moisés—, y que se diera la heredad de nuestro hermano Zelofejad a sus hijas.

3 But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Israel, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our allotted inheritance would be taken away.

3 Pero si ellas se casan en otra tribu, la tierra de ellas pasará a la tribu de su marido. De esta manera nuestra tierra se verá reducida,

4 And when the Jubilee for the Israelites comes, their inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”

4 y no regresará a nosotros en el año del jubileo.

5 So at the word of the LORD, Moses commanded the Israelites: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks correctly.

5 Moisés contestó públicamente, dando estas órdenes de parte del Señor: ―Los hombres de la tribu de José tienen una queja justa.

6 This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.

6 Esto es lo que el Señor ha ordenado acerca de las hijas de Zelofejad:

7 No inheritance in Israel may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the Israelites is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

7 Pueden casarse con quienes quieran, siempre que sea dentro de su tribu. De esta manera, ninguna parte de la tierra de su tribu pasará a otra tribu, ya que la tierra debe pertenecer permanentemente a la tribu a la que fue asignada en el principio.

8 Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.

8 Las jóvenes de las tribus de Israel que pertenezcan a una familia que esté sin heredero varón, deberán casarse dentro de su propia tribu, para que la tierra no salga de la tribu.

9 No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Israel must retain its inheritance.”

9 De este modo, la tierra no pasará de una tribu a otra».

10 So the daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

10 Las hijas de Zelofejad hicieron lo que el Señor le había ordenado a Moisés.

11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to cousins on their father’s side.

11 Estas eran: Majlá, Tirsá, Joglá, Milca y Noa, y se casaron con hombres de su propia tribu de Manasés (hijo de José).

12 They married within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained within the tribe of their father’s clan.

12 De este modo la tierra de ellas permaneció en la tribu.

13 These are the commandments and ordinances that the LORD gave the Israelites through Moses on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

13 Estos son los mandamientos y las ordenanzas que el Señor le dio al pueblo de Israel por medio de Moisés, mientras estaban acampados en las llanuras de Moab junto al río Jordán, frente a Jericó.
