1 Kings 5

1 Now when Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king in his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for Hiram had always been a friend of David.

1 泰尔王希兰素来与大卫修好，他听说以色列人膏立了所罗门继承大卫的王位，就派使者来见所罗门。

2 And Solomon relayed this message to Hiram:

2 所罗门也传信给希兰，说：

3 “As you are well aware, due to the wars waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.

3 “你知道，我父大卫因周围战事连连，未能为他的上帝耶和华的名建殿，要等到耶和华使仇敌伏在他脚下后再建。

4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or crisis.

4 现在我的上帝耶和华使我四境太平，内外无患，

5 So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’

5 我想为我的上帝耶和华建殿，因为耶和华曾对我父大卫说，‘我必使你的儿子继承你的王位，他必为我的名建殿。’

6 Now therefore, order that cedars of Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in logging as the Sidonians.”

6 请你命人为我砍伐黎巴嫩的香柏木。我会派人帮助你的人，并按你的要求付你的人工钱。因为你知道，我们没有人像西顿人那样善于砍伐树木。”

7 When Hiram received Solomon’s message, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the LORD this day! He has given David a wise son over this great people!”

7 希兰听了所罗门的话后，非常高兴，说：“今天当赞美耶和华！祂赐给大卫一个有智慧的儿子治理这伟大的民族。”

8 Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: “I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding the cedar and cypress timber.

8 他派人回复所罗门说：“我已收到你派人带来的口信。我一定会照你的心愿提供香柏木和松木。

9 My servants will haul the logs from Lebanon to the Sea, and I will float them as rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”

9 我的工人会将这些木料从黎巴嫩运到海边，扎成木筏，经海道运到你指定的地点。木筏拆散以后，你就可以点收了。你也要成全我的心愿，供应我家食粮。”

10 So Hiram provided Solomon with all the cedar and cypress timber he wanted,

10 于是，希兰供应所罗门需用的香柏木和松木，

11 and year after year Solomon would provide Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.

11 所罗门每年供应希兰四百四十万升麦子和四十四万升橄榄油。

12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.

12 耶和华照着应许赐给所罗门智慧。他跟希兰修好，缔结盟约。

13 Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel.

13 所罗门王从以色列征集了三万劳工，

14 He sent them to Lebanon in monthly shifts of 10,000 men, so that they would spend one month in Lebanon and two months at home. And Adoniram was in charge of the forced labor.

14 派他们每月轮班到黎巴嫩工作，每班一万人，在黎巴嫩一个月，在家两个月。亚多尼兰做他们的总管。

15 Solomon had 70,000 porters and 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains,

15 所罗门又征用了七万名搬运工，八万名在山上凿石的匠人。

16 not including his 3,300 foremen who supervised the workers.

16 此外，他还派了三千三百名监工，监督工人做工。

17 And the king commanded them to quarry large, costly stones to lay the foundation of the temple with dressed stones.

17 他们按照王的命令在山上凿出珍贵的巨石，用来作殿的根基。

18 So Solomon’s and Hiram’s builders, along with the Gebalites, quarried the stone and prepared the timber and stone for the construction of the temple.

18 于是，所罗门和希兰的工匠及迦巴勒人凿好石头，备好木料，准备建殿。
