1 Kings 5

1 Now when Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king in his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for Hiram had always been a friend of David.

1 泰爾王希蘭，平素愛大衛；他聽見以色列人膏所羅門，接續他父親作王，就差遣臣僕來見他。

2 And Solomon relayed this message to Hiram:

2 所羅門也差遣人去見希蘭，說：

3 “As you are well aware, due to the wars waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.

3 「你知道我父親大衛因四圍的爭戰，不能為耶和華－他上帝的名建殿，直等到耶和華使仇敵都服在他腳下。

4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or crisis.

4 現在耶和華－我的上帝使我四圍平安，沒有仇敵，沒有災禍。

5 So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’

5 我定意要為耶和華－我上帝的名建殿，是照耶和華應許我父親大衛的話說：『我必使你兒子接續你坐你的位，他必為我的名建殿。』

6 Now therefore, order that cedars of Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in logging as the Sidonians.”

6 所以求你吩咐你的僕人在黎巴嫩為我砍伐香柏木，我的僕人也必幫助他們，我必照你所定的，給你僕人的工價；因為你知道，在我們中間沒有人像西頓人善於砍伐樹木。」

7 When Hiram received Solomon’s message, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the LORD this day! He has given David a wise son over this great people!”

7 希蘭聽見所羅門的話，就甚喜悅，說：「今日應當稱頌耶和華；因他賜給大衛一個有智慧的兒子，治理這眾多的民。」

8 Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: “I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding the cedar and cypress timber.

8 希蘭打發人去見所羅門，說：「你差遣人向我所提的那事，我都聽見了；論到香柏木和松木，我必照你的心願而行。

9 My servants will haul the logs from Lebanon to the Sea, and I will float them as rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”

9 我的僕人必將這木料從黎巴嫩運到海裏，紮成筏子，浮海運到你所指定我的地方，在那裏拆開，你就可以收取；你也要成全我的心願，將食物給我的家。」

10 So Hiram provided Solomon with all the cedar and cypress timber he wanted,

10 於是希蘭照着所羅門所要的，給他香柏木和松木；

11 and year after year Solomon would provide Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.

11 所羅門給希蘭麥子二萬歌珥，清油二十歌珥，作他家的食物。所羅門每年都是這樣給希蘭。

12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.

12 耶和華照着所應許的賜智慧給所羅門。希蘭與所羅門和好，彼此立約。

13 Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel.

13 所羅門王從以色列人中挑取服苦的人共有三萬，

14 He sent them to Lebanon in monthly shifts of 10,000 men, so that they would spend one month in Lebanon and two months at home. And Adoniram was in charge of the forced labor.

14 派他們輪流每月一萬人上黎巴嫩去；一個月在黎巴嫩，兩個月在家裏。亞多尼蘭掌管他們。

15 Solomon had 70,000 porters and 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains,

15 所羅門用七萬扛抬的，八萬在山上鑿石頭的。

16 not including his 3,300 foremen who supervised the workers.

16 此外，所羅門用三千三百督工的，監管工人。

17 And the king commanded them to quarry large, costly stones to lay the foundation of the temple with dressed stones.

17 王下令，人就鑿出又大又寶貴的石頭來，用以立殿的根基。

18 So Solomon’s and Hiram’s builders, along with the Gebalites, quarried the stone and prepared the timber and stone for the construction of the temple.

18 所羅門的匠人和希蘭的匠人，並迦巴勒人，都將石頭鑿好，預備木料和石頭建殿。
