Amos 9

1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds shake. Topple them on the heads of all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.

1 Eu vi o Senhor em pé, junto ao altar. Ele me ordenou: “Quebre os topos das colunas para que tremam os umbrais do templo até que as colunas caiam e o telhado desabe sobre o povo. Mesmo que corram, eles não escaparão. E os que sobrarem, matarei à espada.

2 Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will pull them down.

2 “Mesmo que cavem um esconderijo nas profundezas, eu os arrancarei dali. Mesmo que eles subam aos céus, de lá os farei descer.

3 Though they hide themselves atop Carmel, there I will track them and seize them; and though they hide from Me at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.

3 Mesmo que eles se escondam entre as pedras no pico do monte Carmelo, eu irei buscá-los e os tirarei dali. Mesmo que se escondam no fundo das águas do oceano, eu mandarei a serpente marinha atacá-los e destruí-los.

4 Though they are driven by their enemies into captivity, there I will command the sword to slay them. I will fix My eyes upon them for harm and not for good.”

4 Mesmo que eles sejam levados para o exílio por seus inimigos, darei ordens à espada para que os mate na terra de seu cativeiro. Eu mesmo farei planos para que eles recebam o mal e não o bem”.

5 The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers mourn—all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—

5 O Senhor, o Senhor dos Exércitos, toca a terra, e ela se derrete; todos os seus habitantes choram de dor e tristeza. A terra sobe como as águas do rio Nilo no Egito e volta a descer, como o ribeiro do Egito.

6 He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name.

6 A habitação do Senhor se estende até os céus, e coloca o céu sobre a terra; ele ordena ao vapor que suba do oceano e o derrama como chuva sobre a terra. Senhor é o seu nome.

7 “Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O children of Israel?” declares the LORD. “Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir?

7 “Povo de Israel, vocês pensam que são melhores para mim do que os etíopes”, diz o Senhor. “Não veem que eu, que tirei vocês da terra do Egito, tirei os filisteus de Caftor e os sírios de Quir?

8 Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the LORD.

8 “Os olhos do Senhor, o Soberano, observam Israel com atenção, vendo como essa nação peca terrivelmente. Eu a arrancarei de sua terra e espalharei seus habitantes por todo o mundo. Mas prometo que não destruirei completamente a descendência de Jacó”, diz o Senhor.

9 “For surely I will give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve; but not a pebble will reach the ground.

9 “Pois ordenei que Israel seja sacudido pelas nações como o trigo é peneirado, sem que um único grão seja desperdiçado.

10 All the sinners among My people will die by the sword—all those who say, ‘Disaster will never draw near or confront us.’”

10 Mas todos esses pecadores que dizem: ‘Deus não nos castigará’ serão mortos à espada.

11 “In that day I will restore the fallen tent of David. I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,

11 “Naquele dia, reconstruirei a tenda caída de Davi, que agora está em ruínas. Consertarei o que estiver quebrado, e restaurarei as suas ruínas. Eu a reerguerei, e ela terá novamente a sua antiga glória.

12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear My name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.

12 Israel tomará posse do remanescente de Edom e de todas as nações que pertencem a mim”, declara o Senhor, que planeja todas essas coisas.

13 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman will overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes, the sower of seed. The mountains will drip with sweet wine, with which all the hills will flow.

13 “Virá o tempo”, diz o Senhor, “em que as colheitas serão tão formidáveis que, logo após ter sido feita uma colheita, os lavradores começarão a plantar de novo. As vinhas plantadas nos montes de Israel produzirão tantas uvas que o vinho vai correr à vontade de todas as colinas!

14 I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.

14 Eu mudarei a sorte do meu povo, Israel. Eles reconstruirão suas cidades destruídas e morarão nelas mais uma vez. Eles plantarão suas vinhas e pomares, comerão os frutos e beberão do seu vinho.

15 I will firmly plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

15 Eu plantarei Israel em sua própria terra; nunca mais serão arrancados da terra que lhe dei”, diz o Senhor, o seu Deus.
