Deuteronomy 11

1 You shall therefore love the LORD your God and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.

1 “Amem o Senhor, o seu Deus, e obedeçam às suas leis, aos seus mandamentos e às suas ordens.

2 Know this day that it is not your children who have known and seen the discipline of the LORD your God: His greatness, His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm;

2 Ouçam! Não estou falando com os seus filhos, que não experimentaram nem viram a disciplina do Senhor, o seu Deus. Considerem a grandeza dele, a sua mão poderosa e o seu braço forte,

3 the signs and works He did in Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt and all his land;

3 os sinais e as obras que fez no meio do Egito, tanto ao faraó, rei do Egito, quanto a toda a sua terra;

4 what He did to the Egyptian army and horses and chariots when He made the waters of the Red Sea engulf them as they pursued you, and how He destroyed them completely, even to this day;

4 o que fez ao exército dos egípcios, aos seus cavalos e aos seus carros, fazendo com que fossem tragados pelas águas do mar Vermelho quando estavam perseguindo vocês, e como o Senhor anulou as forças deles até hoje.

5 what He did for you in the wilderness until you reached this place;

5 Os nossos filhos também não viram como o Senhor cuidou de vocês, durante o longo tempo em que estiveram vagando pelo deserto, até chegarem a este lugar,

6 and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.

6 nem estavam presentes quando Datã e Abirão, filhos de Eliabe, descendentes de Rúben, cometeram grave pecado, e a terra abriu a sua boca e os tragou com as suas famílias, sua tendas e tudo que pertencia a eles, no meio de todo o povo de Israel.

7 For it is your own eyes that have seen every great work that the LORD has done.

7 Mas vocês viram com os seus próprios olhos todas essas coisas grandiosas que o Senhor fez!

8 You shall therefore keep every commandment I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to go in and possess the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,

8 “Obedeçam, portanto, a todos os mandamentos que hoje estou transmitindo a vocês, para que tenham forças para ir avante e conquistar a terra para onde estou conduzindo vocês,

9 and so that you may live long in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give them and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.

9 e para que tenham vida longa e abençoada na terra que o Senhor prometeu dar aos seus pais e aos seus descendentes, uma terra em que há leite e mel em abundância.

10 For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated on foot, like a vegetable garden.

10 Porque a terra de que vocês vão tomar posse não é como a terra do Egito, de onde você saíram. Lá vocês tinham de semear e precisavam regar todas as plantações, como se rega uma horta.

11 But the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks in the rain from heaven.

11 Mas a terra de que vocês vão tomar posse é terra de montes e vales, onde não falta chuva.

12 It is a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning to the end of the year.

12 É uma terra da qual o Senhor, o seu Deus, toma conta pessoalmente. Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre ela continuamente, desde o começo até o fim do ano.

13 So if you carefully obey the commandments I am giving you today, to love the LORD your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,

13 “Se vocês obedecerem fielmente a todos os mandamentos que estou transmitindo hoje, e se amarem o Senhor, o seu Deus, e o servirem de todo o coração e de toda a alma,

14 then I will provide rain for your land in season, the autumn and spring rains, that you may gather your grain, new wine, and oil.

14 então darei chuva sobre a terra de vocês, no tempo certo, as primeiras e as últimas de cada ano, para que vocês possam recolher os seus cereais, o seu trigo e produzam muito vinho e azeite.

15 And I will provide grass in the fields for your livestock, and you will eat and be satisfied.

15 E haverá ricas pastagens para o seu gado, e vocês terão comida com fartura.

16 But be careful that you are not enticed to turn aside to worship and bow down to other gods,

16 “Tenham cuidado, porém, para que o coração de vocês não seja enganado, e vocês caiam no erro de servir e adorar a outros deuses.

17 or the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you. He will shut the heavens so that there will be no rain, nor will the land yield its produce, and you will soon perish from the good land that the LORD is giving you.

17 Cuidado, porque isso provocará a ira do Senhor, e ele fechará os céus para que vocês não tenham chuvas nem colheitas. Assim vocês desaparecerão em pouco tempo da boa terra que receberam do Senhor.

18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

18 Portanto, gravem estas minhas palavras no coração e na alma de vocês. Amarrem estas instruções nas suas mãos como constante lembrete, e fixem-nas nas suas testas, entre os seus olhos!

19 Teach them to your children, speaking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

19 Ensinem essas leis aos seus filhos. Conversem a respeito delas quando estiverem sentados na sua casa, quando estiverem andando no caminho, quando se deitarem e quando se levantarem.

20 Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates,

20 Escrevam-nas nos batentes das portas de suas casas e nos seus portões.

21 so that as long as the heavens are above the earth, your days and those of your children may be multiplied in the land that the LORD swore to give your fathers.

21 Fazendo assim, vocês e seus filhos viverão muitos anos na terra que o Senhor prometeu dar aos seus antepassados, e isso durará enquanto houver céus acima da terra!

22 For if you carefully keep all these commandments I am giving you to follow—to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him—

22 “Se vocês obedecerem com cuidado a todos os mandamentos que estou dando a vocês, amando o Senhor, o seu Deus, andando em todos os seus caminhos e não se afastando dele,

23 then the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you.

23 então o Senhor expulsará todas estas nações de diante de vocês, e vocês tomarão posse de nações maiores e mais poderosas do que vocês.

24 Every place where the sole of your foot treads will be yours. Your territory will extend from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Western Sea.

24 Todo lugar em que pisarem será de vocês. Suas fronteiras se estenderão desde o deserto no sul, até o Líbano; e desde o rio Eufrates, no leste, até o mar ocidental.

25 No man will be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will put the fear and dread of you upon all the land, wherever you set foot, as He has promised you.

25 Ninguém poderá oferecer resistência a vocês, porque o Senhor, o seu Deus, fará com que todos os povos daquela terra fiquem apavorados e com medo de vocês, como ele lhes prometeu.

26 See, today I am setting before you a blessing and a curse—

26 “Hoje estou propondo a vocês que escolham a bênção ou a maldição;

27 a blessing if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you today,

27 bênção, se obedecerem aos mandamentos do Senhor, o seu Deus, os quais estou dando hoje a vocês;

28 but a curse if you disobey the commandments of the LORD your God and turn aside from the path I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

28 maldição, se desobedecerem aos mandamentos do Senhor, o seu Deus, e se desviarem do caminho que hoje ordeno a vocês, para seguirem outros deuses que vocês não conhecem.

29 When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, you are to proclaim the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

29 Quando o Senhor, o seu Deus, introduzir vocês na terra da qual vão tomar posse, então pronunciarão a bênção sobre o monte Gerizim, e a maldição sobre o monte Ebal.

30 Are not these mountains across the Jordan, west of the road toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite Gilgal near the Oak of Moreh?

30 Por acaso vocês não sabem que esses montes estão situados a oeste do rio Jordão, na direção do pôr do sol, na terra dos cananeus que habitam na Arabá, perto de Gilgal, junto aos carvalhos de Moré?

31 For you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you. When you take possession of it and settle in it,

31 Vocês estão atravessando o Jordão para entrar e possuir a terra que o Senhor, o seu Deus, está dando a vocês.

32 be careful to follow all the statutes and ordinances that I am setting before you today.

32 Mas prestem atenção! Tenham cuidado em obedecer a todas as leis e mandamentos que hoje estou dando a vocês.
