Deuteronomy 12

1 These are the statutes and ordinances you must be careful to follow all the days you live in the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess.

1 “Estes são os mandamentos e as leis a que vocês deverão obedecer quando chegarem à terra que o Senhor, o Deus dos seus pais, deu a vocês para sempre.

2 Destroy completely all the places where the nations you are dispossessing have served their gods—atop the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.

2 Destruam por completo todos os altares nas altas montanhas, no alto dos morros e debaixo de árvores frondosas, nos quais as nações que vocês estão expulsando adoram seus deuses.

3 Tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, burn up their Asherah poles, cut down the idols of their gods, and wipe out their names from every place.

3 Derrubem os seus altares, despedacem as suas colunas e queimem os seus postes-ídolos; despedacem as imagens esculpidas dos seus deuses. Não deixem nenhum rastro dessas coisas!

4 You shall not worship the LORD your God in this way.

4 “Não imitem os sacrifícios deles no culto que vocês oferecem ao Senhor, o seu Deus.

5 Instead, you must seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to establish as a dwelling for His Name, and there you must go.

5 Ao contrário, procurem o lugar próprio indicado pelo Senhor, o seu Deus, entre todas as suas tribos, para ali pôr o seu Nome e a sua habitação.

6 To that place you are to bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and heave offerings, your vow offerings and freewill offerings, as well as the firstborn of your herds and flocks.

6 Ali vocês apresentarão as suas ofertas queimadas e os seus sacrifícios, os seus dízimos, as ofertas especiais, apresentadas com gestos rituais, ofertas de cumprimento de votos e suas ofertas voluntárias, além das ofertas das primeiras crias das suas vacas e das suas ovelhas.

7 There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your households shall eat and rejoice in all you do, because the LORD your God has blessed you.

7 Ali vocês e suas famílias comerão diante do Senhor, o seu Deus, e se alegrarão por tudo o que ele tem feito por vocês e pelas bênçãos do Senhor, o seu Deus.

8 You are not to do as we are doing here today, where everyone does what seems right in his own eyes.

8 “Lá, naquela terra, vocês não vão continuar fazendo o que bem entendem, como fazem aqui,

9 For you have not yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you.

9 pois ainda não chegaram ao lugar de descanso que vão receber como herança do Senhor, o seu Deus.

10 When you cross the Jordan and live in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and He gives you rest from all the enemies around you and you dwell securely,

10 Mas quando atravessarem o rio Jordão e viverem na Terra Prometida que o Senhor, o seu Deus, dá a vocês como herança, ele lhes dará segurança e descanso de todos os seus inimigos que os cercam.

11 then the LORD your God will choose a dwelling for His Name. And there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice offerings you vow to the LORD.

11 Então levem para o lugar que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher como habitação do seu Nome, tudo o que ordenar a vocês: sacrifícios queimados e outros sacrifícios, os seus dízimos, as suas ofertas especiais e todas as outras ofertas prometidas ao Senhor.

12 And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.

12 Ali vocês também se alegrarão diante do Senhor, vocês e os seus filhos e filhas, servos e servas, e os levitas que moram nas suas cidades, por não terem recebido terras nem herança com vocês.

13 Be careful not to offer your burnt offerings in just any place you see;

13 Não caiam no erro de apresentar ofertas queimadas em qualquer lugar que lhes agradar.

14 you must offer them only in the place the LORD will choose in one of your tribal territories, and there you shall do all that I command you.

14 Ofereçam-nas somente no lugar que o Senhor escolher. Ele vai separar para este fim um local nas tribos de Israel. Ali vocês oferecerão sacrifícios queimados e farão tudo o que o Senhor ordenar.

15 But whenever you want, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you. Both the ceremonially clean and unclean may eat it as they would a gazelle or deer,

15 “Contudo, a carne que vocês desejarem comer poderão preparar e comer nas cidades em que moram, como estão acostumados a fazer com a carne do cabrito selvagem ou do veado, de acordo com a bênção que o Senhor, o seu Deus, der a vocês. Tanto quem estiver cerimonialmente impuro quanto quem estiver puro poderá comê-la.

16 but you must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.

16 A única proibição é quanto ao sangue. Esse vocês não poderão comer; derramem o sangue no chão como se fosse água.

17 Within your gates you must not eat the tithe of your grain or new wine or oil, the firstborn of your herds or flocks, any of the offerings that you have vowed to give, or your freewill offerings or special gifts.

17 Vocês não poderão comer em suas cidades o dízimo dos cereais, do vinho e do azeite; nem as primeiras crias das vacas e das ovelhas; nem coisa alguma daquilo que foi prometido, por meio de voto, nem as suas ofertas voluntárias e as contribuições especiais.

18 Instead, you must eat them in the presence of the LORD your God at the place the LORD your God will choose—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates. Rejoice before the LORD your God in all you do,

18 Somente diante do Senhor, o seu Deus, vocês comerão destas ofertas, vocês e os seus filhos e filhas, servos e servas, como também os levitas das suas cidades. Alegrem-se diante do Senhor, o seu Deus, em tudo o que fizerem.

19 and be careful not to neglect the Levites as long as you live in your land.

19 Mas tenham cuidado de não deixar de lado os levitas enquanto viverem na terra de vocês.

20 When the LORD your God expands your territory as He has promised, and you crave meat and say, “I want to eat meat,” you may eat it whenever you want.

20 “Quando o Senhor, o seu Deus, alargar as fronteiras do seu território conforme prometeu, e vocês desejarem comer carne, então poderão comer o quanto desejarem.

21 If the place where the LORD your God chooses to put His Name is too far from you, then you may slaughter any of the herd or flock He has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat it within your gates whenever you want.

21 Se o local que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher para ali pôr o seu Nome estiver muito longe de vocês, então poderão abater em casa o seu gado e o rebanho que o Senhor deu a vocês, como lhes ordenei, e em suas próprias casas poderão comer quanta carne desejarem comer.

22 Indeed, you may eat it as you would eat a gazelle or deer; both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it.

22 Vocês poderão comer a carne como fazem com os cabritos selvagens e com os veados. Todos poderão comer, inclusive os que estiverem cerimonialmente impuros.

23 Only be sure not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat.

23 Mas cuidado! Não comam o sangue, pois o sangue é vida. Portanto, não comam a vida com a carne.

24 You must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.

24 Não comam o sangue; derramem-no no chão como se fosse água.

25 Do not eat it, so that it may go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD.

25 Não comam o sangue para que tudo vá bem com vocês e com os seus filhos, porque estarão fazendo o que é honesto diante do Senhor.

26 But you are to take your holy things and your vow offerings and go to the place the LORD will choose.

26 “Porém, as ofertas sagradas e o que prometeram por meio do voto precisam ser apresentados ao Senhor no local escolhido por ele.

27 Present the meat and blood of your burnt offerings on the altar of the LORD your God. The blood of your other sacrifices must be poured out beside the altar of the LORD your God, but you may eat the meat.

27 Ali apresentarão as suas ofertas queimadas sobre o altar do Senhor, o seu Deus, tanto a carne como o sangue. O sangue dos seus sacrifícios será derramado no altar do Senhor, e a carne vocês poderão comer.

28 Be careful to obey all these things I command you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God.

28 Procurem obedecer rigorosamente a todas estas palavras que estou dando a vocês. Se fizerem o que é certo aos olhos do Senhor, o seu Deus, então tudo correrá bem para vocês e para os seus filhos para sempre.

29 When the LORD your God cuts off before you the nations you are entering to dispossess, and you drive them out and live in their land,

29 “O Senhor, o seu Deus, eliminará as nações das terras em que vocês vão morar. Mas, quando vocês tiverem expulsado essas nações e estiverem habitando em suas terras,

30 be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”

30 tenham cuidado de não imitar os seus cultos idólatras, depois das nações terem sido destruídas. Não perguntem a respeito dos seus deuses, dizendo: ‘Como é que estes povos adoravam os seus deuses? Vamos praticar os mesmos cultos!’

31 You must not worship the LORD your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every abomination which the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

31 Não insultem o Senhor, o seu Deus, desta maneira, porque tudo o que é repugnante ao Senhor e que ele odeia, essas nações fizeram aos seus deuses. Até queimaram seus filhos e filhas no fogo, em sacrifício aos seus deuses!

32 See that you do everything I command you; do not add to it or subtract from it.

32 “Obedeçam a todos os meus mandamentos; não acrescentem, nem tirem coisa alguma.
