Genesis 10

1 This is the account of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, who also had sons after the flood.

1 هَذَا سِجِلُّ مَوَالِيدِ سَامٍ وَحَامٍ وَيَافَثَ أَبْنَاءِ نُوحٍ، وَمَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ الطُّوفَانِ.

2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

2 أَبْنَاءُ يَافَثَ: جُومَرُ وَمَاجُوجُ وَمَادَايُ وَيَاوَانُ وَتُوبَالُ وَمَاشَكُ وَتِيرَاسُ.

3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

3 وَأَبْنَاءُ جُومَرَ: أَشْكَنَازُ وَرِيفَاثُ وَتُوجَرْمَةُ.

4 And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites.

4 وَأَبْنَاءُ يَاوَانَ: أَلِيشَةُ وَتَرْشِيشُ وَكِتِّيمُ وَدُودَانِيمُ.

5 From these, the maritime peoples separated into their territories, according to their languages, by clans within their nations.

5 وَتَفَرَّعَ مِنْ هَؤُلاءِ سُكَّانُ الْجَزَائِرِ وَتَفَرَّقُوا فِي مَنَاطِقِهِمْ حَسَبَ قَبَائِلِهِمْ وَأُمَمِهِمْ، وَلُغَاتِهِمْ.

6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

6 وَأَبْنَاءُ حَامٍ: كُوشٌ وَمِصْرَايِمُ وَفُوطُ وَكَنْعَانُ.

7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.

7 وَأَبْنَاءُ كُوشٍ: سَبَا، وَحَوِيلَةُ، وَسَبْتَةُ وَرَعْمَةُ وَسَبْتَكَا. وَأَبْنَاءُ رَعْمَةَ: سَبَا وَدَدَانُ.

8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty one on the earth.

8 وَأَنْجَبَ كُوْشُ نِمْرُودَ الَّذِي مَا لَبِثَ أَنْ أَصْبَحَ عَاتِياً فِي الأَرْضِ.

9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; so it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”

9 كَانَ صَيَّاداً عَاتِياً أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ، لِذَلِكَ يُقَالُ: «كَنِمْرُودَ جَبَّارُّ صَيْدٍ أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ».

10 His kingdom began in Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

10 وَقَدْ تَكَوَّنَتْ مَمْلَكَتُهُ أَوَّلَ الأَمْرِ مِنْ بَابِلَ وَأَرَكَ وَأَكَّدَ وَكَلْنَةَ فِي أَرْضِ شِنْعَارَ.

11 From that land he went forth into Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,

11 وَمِنْ تِلْكَ الأَرْضِ خَرَجَ أَشُّورُ وَبَنَى مُدُنَ نِينَوَى وَرَحُبُوتَ عَيْرَ وَكَالَحَ،

12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.

12 وَرَسَنَ الْوَاقِعَةَ بَيْنَ نِينَوَى وَكَالَحَ. وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ الْكَبِيرَةُ.

13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites,

13 وَمِنْ مِصْرَايِمَ تَحَدَّرَتْ هَذِهِ الْقَبَائِلُ: اللُّودِيُّونَ وَالْعَنَامِيُّونَ، وَاللهَابِيُّونَ وَالنَّفْتُوحِيُّونَ

14 the Pathrusites, the Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came), and the Caphtorites.

14 وَالْفَتْرُوسِيُّونَ وَالْكَسْلُوحِيُّونَ. وَمِنْهُمْ تَحَدَّرَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ وَالْكَفْتُورِيُّونَ.

15 And Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites,

15 وَأَنْجَبَ كَنْعَانُ صِيدُونَ ابْنَهُ الْبِكْرَ ثُمَّ حِثًّا،

16 the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,

16 وَمِنْهُ تَحَدَّرَتْ قَبَائِلُ الْيَبُوسِيِّينَ وَالأَمُورِيِّينَ وَالْجِرْجَاشِيِّينَ،

17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,

17 وَالْحِوِّيِّينَ وَالْعَرْقِيِّينَ وَالسِّينِيِّينَ،

18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans were scattered,

18 وَالأَرْوَادِيِّينَ وَالصَّمَارِيِّينَ وَالْحَمَاتِيِّينَ، وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ انْتَشَرَتِ الْقَبَائِلُ الْكَنْعَانِيَّةُ

19 and the borders of Canaan extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

19 فِي الأَرَاضِي الْوَاقِعَةِ بَيْنَ صِيدُونَ وَغَزَّةَ مُرُوراً بِجَرَارَ، وَبَيْنَ صِيدُونَ وَلاشَعَ مُرُوراً بِسَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَأَدْمَةَ وَصَبُويِيمَ.

20 These are the sons of Ham according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.

20 كَانَ هَؤُلاءِ هُمُ الْمُنْحَدِرُونَ مِنْ حَامٍ بِحَسَبِ قَبَائِلِهِمْ وَلُغَاتِهِمْ وَبُلْدَانِهِمْ وَشُعُوبِهِمْ.

21 And sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth; Shem was the forefather of all the sons of Eber.

21 وَأَنْجَبَ سَامٌ، أَخُو يَافَثَ الأَكْبَرُ، أَبْنَاءً. وَمِنْهُ تَحَدَّرَ جَمِيعُ بَنِي عَابِرَ.

22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

22 أَمَّا أَبْنَاءُ سَامٍ فَهُمْ: عِيلامُ وَأَشُّورُ وَأَرْفَكْشَادُ وَلُودُ وَأَرَامُ

23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

23 وَأَبْنَاءُ أَرَامَ: عُوصُ، وَحُولُ، وَجَاثَرُ وَمَاشُ.

24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.

24 وَأَنْجَبَ أَرْفَكْشَادُ شَالَحَ، وَوَلَدَ شَالَحُ عَابِرَ.

25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.

25 وَوُلِدَ لِعَابِرَ ابْنَانِ: اسْمُ أَحَدِهِمَا فَالَجُ (وَمَعْنَاهُ انْقِسَامٌ) لأَنَّ أَهْلَ الأَرْضِ انْقَسَمُوا فِي أَيَّامِهِ. وَاسْمُ أَخِيهِ يَقْطَانُ.

26 And Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

26 وَأَنْجَبَ يَقْطَانُ أَلْمُودَادَ وَشَالَفَ وَحَضَرْمَوْتَ وَيَارَحَ،

27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

27 وَهَدُورَامَ وَأُوزَالَ وَدِقْلَةَ،

28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

28 وَعُوبَالَ وَأَبِيمَايِلَ وَشَبَا،

29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.

29 وَأُوفِيرَ وَحَوِيلَةَ وَيُوبَابَ. وَهَؤُلاءِ جَمِيعُهُمْ أَبْنَاءُ يَقْطَانَ.

30 Their territory extended from Mesha to Sephar, in the eastern hill country.

30 وَقَدِ اسْتَوْطَنُوا فِي الأَرَاضِي الْوَاقِعَةِ بَيْنَ مِيشَا وَالتِّلالِ الشَّرْقِيَّةِ مِنْ جَبَلِ سَفَارَ.

31 These are the sons of Shem, according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.

31 هَؤُلاءِ هُمُ الْمُنْحَدِرُونَ مِنْ سَامٍ حَسَبَ قَبَائِلِهِمْ وَلُغَاتِهِمْ وَبُلْدَانِهِمْ وَشُعُوبِهِمْ.

32 All these are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their generations and nations. From these the nations of the earth spread out after the flood.

32 هَذِهِ هِيَ الْقَبَائِلُ الْمُنْحَدِرَةُ مِنْ أَبْنَاءِ نُوحٍ حَسَبَ شُعُوبِهِمْ، وَمِنْهُمُ انْتَشَرَتِ الأُمَمُ فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ الطُّوفَانِ.
