Isaiah 40

1 “Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God.

1 तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यह कहता है, कि मेरी प्रजा को शांति दो, शांति दो!

2 “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her forced labor has been completed; her iniquity has been pardoned. For she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.”

2 येरूशलेम से शांति की बात करो, उनसे कहो कि अब उनकी कठिन सेवा खत्म हो चुकी है, क्योंकि उनके अधर्म का मूल्य दे चुका है, उसने याहवेह ही के हाथों से अपने सारे पापों के लिए दो गुणा दंड पा लिया है.

3 A voice of one calling: “Prepare the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert.

3 एक आवाज, जो पुकार-पुकारने वाले की, कह रही है, “याहवेह के लिए जंगल में मार्ग को तैयार करो; हमारे परमेश्वर के लिए उस मरुस्थल में एक राजमार्ग सीधा कर दो.

4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground will become smooth, and the rugged land a plain.

4 हर एक तराई भर दो, तथा हर एक पर्वत तथा पहाड़ी को गिरा दो; असमतल भूमि को चौरस मैदान बना दो, तथा ऊंचा नीचा है वह चौड़ा किया जाए.

5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all humanity together will see it.” For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

5 तब याहवेह का प्रताप प्रकट होगा, तथा सब जीवित प्राणी इसे एक साथ देख सकेंगे. क्योंकि यह याहवेह के मुंह से निकला हुआ वचन है.”

6 A voice says, “Cry out!” And I asked, “What should I cry out?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field.

6 फिर बोलनेवाले कि आवाज सुनाई दी कि प्रचार करो. मैंने कहा, “मैं क्या प्रचार करूं?” “सभी मनुष्य घास समान हैं, उनकी सुंदरता मैदान के फूल समान है.

7 The grass withers and the flowers fall when the breath of the LORD blows on them; indeed, the people are grass.

7 घास मुरझा जाती है तथा फूल सूख जाता है, जब याहवेह की श्वास चलती है. तब घास सूख जाती है.

8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”

8 घास मुरझा जाती है तथा फूल सूख जाता है, किंतु हमारे परमेश्वर का वचन स्थिर रहेगा.”

9 Go up on a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news. Raise your voice loudly, O Jerusalem, herald of good news. Lift it up, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”

9 किसी ऊंचे पर्वत पर चले जाओ, हे ज़ियोन, तुम तो शुभ संदेश सुनाते हो. अत्यंत ऊंचे स्वर में घोषणा करो, हे येरूशलेम, तुम जो शुभ संदेश सुनाते हो, बिना डरे हुए ऊंचे शब्द से कहो; यहूदिया के नगरों को बताओ, “देखो ये हैं हमारे परमेश्वर!”

10 Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and His arm establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.

10 तुम देखोगे कि प्रभु याहवेह बड़ी सामर्थ्य के साथ आएंगे, वह अपने भुजबल से शासन करेंगे. वह अपने साथ मजदूरी लाए हैं, उनका प्रतिफल उनके आगे-आगे चलता है.

11 He tends His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the nursing ewes.

11 वह चरवाहे के समान अपने झुंड की देखभाल करेंगे: वह मेमनों को अपनी बाहों में ले लेंगे वह उन्हें अपनी गोद में उठा लेंगे और बाहों में लेकर चलेंगे; उनके साथ उनके चरवाहे भी होंगे.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance?

12 कौन है जिसने अपनी हथेली से महासागर को नापा है, किसने बित्ते से आकाश को नापा है? किसने पृथ्वी की धूल को माप कर उसकी गिनती की है, तथा पर्वतों को कांटे से तथा पहाड़ियों को तौल से मापा है?

13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or informed Him as His counselor?

13 किसने याहवेह के आत्मा को मार्ग बताया है, अथवा याहवेह का सहायक होकर उन्हें ज्ञान सिखाया है?

14 Whom did He consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the paths of justice? Who imparted knowledge to Him and showed Him the way of understanding?

14 किससे उसने सलाह ली, तथा किसने उन्हें समझ दी? किसने उन्हें न्याय की शिक्षा दी तथा उन्हें ज्ञान सिखाया, किसने उन्हें बुद्धि का मार्ग बताया?

15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are considered a speck of dust on the scales; He lifts up the islands like fine dust.

15 यह जान लो, कि देश पानी की एक बूंद और पलड़ों की धूल के समान है; वह द्वीपों को धूल के कण समान उड़ा देते हैं.

16 Lebanon is not sufficient for fuel, nor its animals enough for a burnt offering.

16 न तो लबानोन ईंधन के लिए पर्याप्‍त है, और न ही होमबलि के लिए पशु है.

17 All the nations are as nothing before Him; He regards them as nothingness and emptiness.

17 उनके समक्ष पूरा देश उनके सामने कुछ नहीं है; उनके सामने वे शून्य समान हैं.

18 To whom will you liken God? To what image will you compare Him?

18 तब? किससे तुम परमेश्वर की तुलना करोगे? या किस छवि से उनकी तुलना की जा सकेगी?

19 To an idol that a craftsman casts and a metalworker overlays with gold and fits with silver chains?

19 जैसे मूर्ति को शिल्पकार रूप देता है, स्वर्णकार उस पर सोने की परत चढ़ा देता है तथा चांदी से उसके लिए कड़ियां गढ़ता है.

20 One lacking such an offering chooses wood that will not rot. He seeks a skilled craftsman to set up an idol that will not topple.

20 कंगाल इतनी भेंट नहीं दे सकता इसलिये वह अच्छा पेड़ चुने, जो न सड़े; फिर एक योग्य शिल्पकार को ढूंढ़कर मूरत खुदवाकर स्थिर करता है ताकि यह हिल न सके.

21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the foundation of the earth?

21 क्या तुम नहीं जानते? क्या तुमने सुना नहीं? क्या शुरू में ही तुम्हें नहीं बताया गया था? क्या पृथ्वी की नींव रखे जाने के समय से ही तुम यह समझ न सके थे?

22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

22 यह वह हैं जो पृथ्वी के घेरे के ऊपर आकाश में विराजमान हैं. पृथ्वी के निवासी तो टिड्डी के समान हैं, वह आकाश को मख़मल के वस्त्र के समान फैला देते हैं.

23 He brings the princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth meaningless.

23 यह वही हैं, जो बड़े-बड़े हाकिमों को तुच्छ मानते हैं और पृथ्वी के अधिकारियों को शून्य बना देते हैं.

24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner have their stems taken root in the ground, than He blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like stubble.

24 कुछ ही देर पहले उन्हें बोया गया, जड़ पकड़ते ही हवा चलती और वे सूख जाति है, और आंधी उन्हें भूसी के समान उड़ा ले जाती है.

25 “To whom will you liken Me, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.

25 “अब तुम किससे मेरी तुलना करोगे? कि मैं उसके तुल्य हो जाऊं?” यह पवित्र परमेश्वर का वचन है.

26 Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

26 अपनी आंख ऊपर उठाकर देखो: किसने यह सब रचा है? वे अनगिनत तारे जो आकाश में दिखते हैं जिनका नाम लेकर बुलाया जाता है. और उनके सामर्थ्य तथा उनके अधिकार की शक्ति के कारण, उनमें से एक भी बिना आए नहीं रहता.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and why do you assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my claim is ignored by my God”?

27 हे याकोब, तू क्यों कहता है? हे इस्राएल, तू क्यों बोलता है, “मेरा मार्ग याहवेह से छिपा है; और मेरा परमेश्वर मेरे न्याय की चिंता नहीं करता”?

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.

28 क्या तुम नहीं जानते? तुमने नहीं सुना? याहवेह सनातन परमेश्वर है, पृथ्वी का सृजनहार, वह न थकता, न श्रमित होता है, उसकी बुद्धि अपरंपार है.

29 He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.

29 वह थके हुओं को बल देता है, शक्तिहीनों को सामर्थ्य देता है.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.

30 यह संभव है कि जवान तो थकते, और मूर्छित हो जाते हैं और लड़खड़ा जाते हैं;

31 But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

31 परंतु जो याहवेह पर भरोसा रखते हैं वे नया बल पाते जाएंगे. वे उकाबों की नाई उड़ेंगे; वे दौड़ेंगे, किंतु श्रमित न होंगे, चलेंगे, किंतु थकित न होंगे.
