Revelation 12

1 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.

1 Então apareceu no céu um grande sinal: Vi uma mulher vestida de sol, com a lua debaixo dos pés e uma coroa de doze estrelas na cabeça.

2 She was pregnant and crying out in the pain and agony of giving birth.

2 Ela estava grávida e gritava com as dores do parto, esperando a hora de dar à luz.

3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven royal crowns on his heads.

3 Subitamente apareceu um outro sinal: Um enorme dragão vermelho, com sete cabeças e dez chifres, e sete coroas nas cabeças.

4 His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky, hurling them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, ready to devour her child as soon as she gave birth.

4 Com a cauda ele puxou atrás de si uma terça parte das estrelas do céu, que depois lançou na terra. O dragão ficou na frente da mulher enquanto ela estava para dar à luz, pronto para devorar o filho logo que nascesse.

5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

5 A mulher deu à luz um menino que devia governar todas as nações com mão forte, e ele foi arrebatado para junto de Deus e de seu trono.

6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place for her to be nourished for 1,260 days.

6 A mulher fugiu para o deserto, onde Deus lhe tinha preparado um lugar, para cuidar dela durante 1.260 dias.

7 Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.

7 Então houve guerra no céu; Miguel e os anjos debaixo do comando dele lutaram contra o dragão e os seus exércitos de anjos.

8 But the dragon was not strong enough, and no longer was any place found in heaven for him and his angels.

8 O dragão não foi suficientemente forte, e perdeu a batalha e foi expulso dos céus.

9 And the great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

9 Esse grande dragão — a antiga serpente chamada diabo ou Satanás, aquele que engana o mundo todo — foi lançado sobre a terra com todos os seus anjos.

10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down—he who accuses them day and night before our God.

10 Depois ouvi uma forte voz que bradava pelos céus: “Por fim aconteceu! A salvação, o poder e o Reino do nosso Deus e a autoridade do seu Cristo finalmente se manifestaram aqui; porque o acusador dos nossos irmãos foi lançado fora, aquele que os acusa dia e noite diante do nosso Deus.

11 They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death.

11 Eles o derrotaram pelo sangue do Cordeiro e pelo testemunho deles; pois não amaram suas vidas, nem diante da própria morte.

12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea; with great fury the devil has come down to you, knowing he has only a short time.”

12 Portanto, alegrem-se, ó céus! Vocês, cidadãos do céu, alegrem-se! Fiquem contentes! Porém ai da terra e do mar, pois o diabo desceu até vocês com grande fúria, sabendo que lhe resta pouco tempo”.

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

13 E quando o dragão viu que tinha sido jogado na terra, perseguiu a mulher que tinha dado à luz o menino.

14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle to fly from the presence of the serpent to her place in the wilderness, where she was nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

14 Mas a mulher recebeu duas asas como as de uma grande águia, a fim de voar para o deserto ao lugar preparado para ela, onde foi cuidada e protegida da serpente por três anos e meio.

15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman and sweep her away in the torrent.

15 E a serpente, num esforço para alcançar a mulher, fez jorrar da sua boca uma enorme torrente de água para arrastá-la com a correnteza;

16 But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth to swallow up the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth.

16 mas a terra ajudou a mulher, porque abriu a boca e engoliu a torrente que o dragão tinha feito jorrar da sua boca!

17 And the dragon was enraged at the woman and went to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea.

17 Então o dragão, furioso, desfechou um ataque ao restante da sua descendência — todos aqueles que guardam os mandamentos de Deus e confessam que pertencem a Jesus. E para isso o dragão ficou em pé numa praia.
