Revelation 13

1 Then I saw a beast with ten horns and seven heads rising out of the sea. There were ten royal crowns on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads.

1 E agora, em minha visão, eu vi uma besta levantando-se do mar. Tinha sete cabeças e dez chifres, e dez coroas nos chifres. E em cada cabeça estavam escritos nomes insultuosos, cada um deles blasfemando contra Deus.

2 The beast I saw was like a leopard, with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.

2 Esta besta parecia um leopardo, mas tinha pés como os de urso e boca como a de leão! E o dragão deu à besta o seu próprio poder, o seu trono e grande autoridade.

3 One of the heads of the beast appeared to have been mortally wounded. But the mortal wound was healed, and the whole world marveled and followed the beast.

3 E eu vi que uma das cabeças dela parecia ferida, sem possibilidade de cura — mas a ferida mortal foi curada! O mundo inteiro ficou maravilhado com esse milagre e, com grande medo, seguiu a besta.

4 They worshiped the dragon who had given authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can wage war against it?”

4 Todos adoravam o dragão por ter dado a ela tal poder, e adoravam também a besta, dizendo: “Onde haverá alguém tão grande como a besta?” “Quem é capaz de lutar contra ela?”

5 The beast was given a mouth to speak arrogant and blasphemous words, and authority to act for 42 months.

5 Então foi permitido à besta falar palavras arrogantes e blasfêmias contra o Senhor; e lhe foi dada autoridade para governar a terra durante quarenta e dois meses.

6 And the beast opened its mouth to speak blasphemies against God and to slander His name and His tabernacle—those who dwell in heaven.

6 Todo aquele tempo ela blasfemou contra o nome de Deus, o tabernáculo dele e todos aqueles que moram no céu.

7 Then the beast was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.

7 Ela recebeu poder para lutar contra o povo de Deus e vencê-lo, e governar sobre toda tribo, povo, língua e nação.

8 And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.

8 E toda a humanidade, cujos nomes não estavam escritos no Livro da Vida do Cordeiro que foi morto desde a criação do mundo, adorará a besta.

9 He who has an ear, let him hear:

9 Todo aquele que pode ouvir, ouça com cuidado:

10 “If anyone is destined for captivity, into captivity he will go; if anyone is to die by the sword, by the sword he must be killed.” Here is a call for the perseverance and faith of the saints.

10 Do povo de Deus, aqueles que se destinam ao cárcere, serão presos e levados; aqueles que se destinam à morte pela espada, serão mortos pela espada. Mas não se espantem, porque esta é a oportunidade de vocês serem perseverantes e fiéis.

11 Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. This beast had two horns like a lamb, but spoke like a dragon.

11 Depois eu vi outra besta; essa outra surgiu da terra, com dois chifres como os de um cordeiro, mas com voz de um dragão.

12 And this beast exercised all the authority of the first beast and caused the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed.

12 Ela exercia toda a autoridade da besta cuja ferida mortal havia sido curada, e exigia que todos os habitantes da terra adorassem a primeira besta.

13 And the second beast performed great signs, even causing fire from heaven to come down to earth in the presence of the people.

13 E operava milagres inacreditáveis, tais como fazer cair fogo do céu à terra diante dos olhos de todo o mundo.

14 Because of the signs it was given to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived those who dwell on the earth, telling them to make an image to the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet had lived.

14 Ao fazer esses milagres, ela enganava o povo em toda parte. E podia fazer essas coisas admiráveis todas as vezes que a primeira besta estava lá para contemplá-la. E ela ordenou ao povo do mundo que fizesse uma grande estátua da primeira besta, que tinha sido mortalmente ferida e depois tinha voltado à vida.

15 The second beast was permitted to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship it to be killed.

15 Foi-lhe permitido dar fôlego a essa estátua e até fazê-la falar! Então a estátua ordenou que todo aquele que se recusasse a adorá-la morresse!

16 And the second beast required all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,

16 Depois ela exigiu que todos — grandes e pequenos, ricos e pobres, escravos e livres — fossem marcados com determinado sinal na mão direita ou na testa.

17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.

17 E ninguém podia comprar ou vender sem aquele sinal, que era o nome da besta ou o número do nome dela em código.

18 Here is a call for wisdom: Let the one who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and that number is 666.

18 Este é um enigma que exige um estudo cuidadoso para solucioná-lo. Aqueles que são capazes calculem o número da besta, pois é o número de homem. Seu número é 666!
