1 John 5

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves those born of Him.

1 Todos aqueles que creem que Jesus é o Cristo são filhos de Deus. E todos os que amam ao Pai amam também os seus filhos.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments.

2 Portanto, você pode saber quanto ama os filhos de Deus pelo grau do seu amor e da sua obediência a Deus.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,

3 Amar a Deus significa obedecer aos seus mandamentos. E os seus mandamentos, na realidade, não são difíceis,

4 because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

4 pois todo filho de Deus pode obedecer-lhe, derrotando o mundo. Com a nossa fé conseguimos a vitória sobre o mundo.

5 Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

5 Mas quem teria possibilidades de lutar e vencer o mundo, a não ser crendo que Jesus é verdadeiramente o Filho de Deus?

6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.

6 E nós sabemos quem ele é, porque Jesus Cristo veio por meio da água e do sangue: não apenas por água, mas por água e sangue. E o Espírito Santo, que é eternamente verdadeiro, é o que dá testemunho.

7 For there are three that testify:

7 Portanto, temos estes três que dão testemunho:

8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.

8 o Espírito, a água, e o sangue. E todos eles dizem a mesma coisa: que Jesus Cristo é o Filho de Deus.

9 Even if we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony that God has given about His Son.

9 Nós cremos nos homens que servem como testemunhas, mas o testemunho de Deus tem valor maior, pois é o testemunho de Deus. E afirma que Jesus é seu Filho.

10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.

10 Todos os que creem no Filho de Deus sabem, em seus próprios corações, que isto é verdade. Se alguém não crê nisto, na realidade está chamando Deus de mentiroso, porque não crê no que Deus afirmou a respeito do seu Filho.

11 And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

11 E que foi que Deus afirmou? Que ele nos deu a vida eterna, e que esta vida está no seu Filho.

12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

12 Portanto, todo aquele que tem o Filho de Deus tem a vida; todo aquele que não tem o Filho de Deus não tem a vida.

13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

13 Eu escrevi isto a vocês que creem no nome do Filho de Deus, a fim de que vocês possam saber que têm a vida eterna.

14 And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

14 E esta é a confiança quando estamos na presença de Deus: que ele nos ouvirá todas as vezes que lhe pedirmos alguma coisa que esteja de acordo com sua vontade.

15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.

15 E se nós realmente sabemos que ele está ouvindo quando falamos com ele e fazemos os nossos pedidos, então podemos ter a certeza de que ele nos responderá.

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he should ask God, who will give life to those who commit this kind of sin. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying he should ask regarding that sin.

16 Se vocês virem um irmão pecar de uma forma que não cause a morte, devem pedir a Deus que o perdoe, e Deus lhe dará a vida, a não ser que ele tenha cometido pecado que leva à morte. Pois há pecado que causa a morte e por este não digo que se deva orar.

17 All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death.

17 É claro que toda injustiça é pecado. Mas há pecados que não levam à morte.

18 We know that anyone born of God does not keep on sinning; the One who was born of God protects him, and the evil one cannot touch him.

18 Ninguém que passou a fazer parte da família de Deus faz do pecado um hábito, pois Cristo, o Filho de Deus, o protege com segurança, e o Maligno não pode pôr as mãos nele.

19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.

19 Nós sabemos que somos filhos de Deus e que o mundo todo ao nosso redor está sob o poder e o domínio do Maligno.

20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

20 E sabemos também que o Filho de Deus veio para ajudar-nos a compreender e encontrar o verdadeiro Deus. E agora estamos em Deus, porque estamos em Jesus Cristo seu Filho, que é o único Deus verdadeiro; e ele é a vida eterna.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

21 Meus queridos filhos, afastem-se de qualquer coisa que possa tomar o lugar de Deus no coração de vocês. Amém.
