2 John 1

1 The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I alone, but also all who know the truth—

1 João, o ancião, à senhora eleita, e aos seus filhos a quem tanto amo na verdade, como fazem todos os outros que conhecem a verdade,

2 because of the truth that abides in us and will be with us forever:

2 por causa da verdade que está para sempre nos nossos corações.

3 Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, will be with us in truth and love.

3 A graça, a misericórdia e a paz de Deus, o Pai, e de Jesus Cristo, seu Filho, estejam conosco em verdade e amor.

4 I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father has commanded us.

4 Como eu me sinto feliz por encontrar alguns dos seus filhos aqui, e ver que eles estão vivendo como devem, seguindo a verdade e obedecendo aos mandamentos que recebemos do Pai!

5 And now I urge you, dear lady—not as a new commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.

5 E agora eu quero lembrar-lhe insistentemente, querida senhora, o velho mandamento que Deus nos deu bem no princípio: que nos amemos uns aos outros.

6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.

6 Se amamos a Deus, faremos tudo quanto ele nos manda. E, desde o começo mesmo, ele nos mandou que amássemos uns aos outros.

7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, refusing to confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

7 Tomem cuidado com os falsos líderes que têm saído pelo mundo, que não creem que Jesus Cristo veio à terra como um ser humano, com um corpo como o nosso. Quem faz isso é o enganador e o anticristo.

8 Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be fully rewarded.

8 Tenham cuidado para não serem como eles e perderem o prêmio pelo qual eu e vocês temos trabalhado tão duramente. Procurem ganhar do Senhor a recompensa completa.

9 Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son.

9 Se vocês forem além do ensino de Cristo, perderão a Deus de vista; mas se forem leais aos ensinos de Cristo, terão a Deus também. E então, terão tanto o Pai como o Filho.

10 If anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even greet him.

10 Se alguém for ensinar a vocês e não crê no que Cristo ensinou, nem sequer o convidem a entrar em suas casas, nem o saúdem.

11 Whoever greets such a person shares in his evil deeds.

11 Se vocês o fizerem, estarão tornando-se companheiros dele e das suas obras malignas.

12 I have many things to write to you, but I would prefer not to do so with paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come and speak with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

12 Bem que eu gostaria de dizer muito mais; porém não quero fazê-lo por intermédio desta carta, porque espero ir vê-los face a face em breve, e então poderemos conversar juntos a respeito destas coisas, para que a minha alegria seja completa.

13 The children of your elect sister send you greetings.

13 Saudações dos filhos da sua irmã escolhida por Deus.
