Acts 8

1 And Saul was there, giving approval to Stephen’s death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

1 स्तेफ़ानॉस की हत्या में पूरी तरह शाऊल सहमत था. उसी दिन से येरूशलेम नगर की कलीसियाओं पर घोर सताना शुरू हो गया, जिसके फलस्वरूप प्रेरितों के अलावा सभी शिष्य यहूदिया तथा शमरिया के क्षेत्रों में बिखर गए.

2 God-fearing men buried Stephen and mourned deeply over him.

2 कुछ श्रद्धालु व्यक्तियों ने स्तेफ़ानॉस के शव की अंत्येष्टि की तथा उनके लिए गहरा शोक मनाया.

3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.

3 शाऊल कलीसिया को सता रहा था; वह घरों में घुस, स्त्री-पुरुषों को घसीटकर कारागार में डाल रहा था.

4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

4 वे, जो यहां वहां बिखर गए थे, शुभ संदेश सुनाने लगे.

5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them.

5 फ़िलिप्पॉस शमरिया के एक नगर में जाकर मसीह के विषय में शिक्षा देने लगे.

6 The crowds all paid close attention to Philip’s message and to the signs they saw him perform.

6 फ़िलिप्पॉस के अद्भुत चिह्नों को देख भीड़ एक मन होकर उनके प्रवचन सुनने लगी.

7 With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the paralyzed and lame were healed.

7 अनेक दुष्टात्माओं के सताए हुओं में से दुष्टात्मा ऊंचे शब्द में चिल्लाते हुए बाहर आ रहे थे. अनेक अपंग और लकवे के पीड़ित भी स्वस्थ हो रहे थे.

8 So there was great joy in that city.

8 नगर में आनंद की लहर दौड़ गई थी.

9 Prior to that time, a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and astounded the people of Samaria. He claimed to be someone great,

9 उसी नगर में शिमओन नामक एक व्यक्ति था, जिसने शमरिया राष्ट्र को जादू-टोने के द्वारा चकित कर रखा था. वह अपनी महानता का दावा करता था.

10 and all the people, from the least to the greatest, heeded his words and said, “This man is the divine power called the Great Power.”

10 छोटे-बड़े सभी ने यह कहकर उसका लोहा मान रखा था: “यही है वह, जिसे परमेश्वर की महाशक्ति कहा जाता है.”

11 They paid close attention to him because he had astounded them for a long time with his sorcery.

11 उसके इन चमत्कारों से सभी अत्यंत प्रभावित थे क्योंकि उसने उन्हें बहुत दिनों से अपनी जादूई विद्या से चकित किया हुआ था.

12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

12 किंतु जब लोगों ने परमेश्वर के राज्य और मसीह येशु के नाम के विषय में फ़िलिप्पॉस का संदेश सुनकर विश्वास किया, स्त्री और पुरुष दोनों ही ने बपतिस्मा लिया.

13 Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip closely and was astounded by the great signs and miracles he observed.

13 स्वयं शिमओन ने भी विश्वास किया, बपतिस्मा लिया और फ़िलिप्पॉस का शिष्य बन गया. वह अद्भुत चिह्न और सामर्थ्य से भरे महान कामों को देखकर हैरान था.

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

14 जब येरूशलेम नगर में प्रेरितों को यह मालूम हुआ कि शमरिया नगर ने परमेश्वर के वचन को स्वीकार कर लिया है, उन्होंने पेतरॉस तथा योहन को वहां भेज दिया.

15 On their arrival, they prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit.

15 वहां पहुंचकर उन्होंने उनके लिए प्रार्थना की कि वे पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्‍त करें

16 For the Holy Spirit had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

16 क्योंकि वहां अब तक किसी पर भी पवित्र आत्मा नहीं उतरा था. उन्होंने प्रभु येशु के नाम में बपतिस्मा मात्र ही लिया था.

17 Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

17 तब प्रेरितों ने उन पर हाथ रखे और उन्होंने पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्‍त किया.

18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money.

18 जब शिमओन ने यह देखा कि प्रेरितों के मात्र हाथ रखने से पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्‍ति संभव है, उसने प्रेरितों को यह कहते हुए धन देना चाहा,

19 “Give me this power as well,” he said, “so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

19 “मुझे भी यह अधिकार प्रदान कर दीजिए कि मैं जिस किसी पर हाथ रखूं उसे पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्‍त हो जाए.”

20 But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!

20 किंतु पेतरॉस ने उससे कहा, “सर्वनाश हो तेरा और तेरे धन का! क्योंकि तूने परमेश्वर का वरदान धन से प्राप्‍त करना चाहा.

21 You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God.

21 इस सेवा में तेरा न कोई भाग है न कोई हिस्सेदारी, क्योंकि तेरा हृदय परमेश्वर के सामने सच्चा नहीं है.

22 Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.

22 इसलिये सही यह होगा कि तू अपनी दुर्वृत्ति से पश्चाताप करे और प्रार्थना करे कि यदि संभव हो तो प्रभु तेरे दिल की इस बुराई को क्षमा करें,

23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and captive to iniquity.”

23 क्योंकि मुझे यह स्पष्ट दिखाई दे रहा है कि तू कड़वाहट से भरा हुआ और पूरी तरह पाप में जकड़ा हुआ है.”

24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”

24 यह सुन टोनहे शिमओन ने उनसे विनती की “आप ही प्रभु से मेरे लिए प्रार्थना कीजिए कि आपने जो कुछ कहा है, उसमें से कुछ भी मुझ पर असर न करने पाए.”

25 And after Peter and John had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many of the Samaritan villages.

25 पेतरॉस तथा योहन परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा और गवाही देते हुए येरूशलेम लौट गए. वे शमरिया क्षेत्र के अनेक गांवों में ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार सुनाते गए.

26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”

26 प्रभु के एक दूत ने फ़िलिप्पॉस से कहा, “उठो, दक्षिण दिशा की ओर उस मार्ग पर जाओ, जो येरूशलेम से अज्जाह नगर को जाता है.” यह बंजर भूमि का मार्ग है.

27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,

27 फ़िलिप्पॉस इस आज्ञा के अनुसार चल पड़े. मार्ग में उनकी भेंट एक खोजे से हुई, जो इथियोपिया की रानी कन्दाके की राज्यसभा में मंत्री था. वह आराधना के लिए येरूशलेम आया हुआ था.

28 and on his return was sitting in his chariot reading Isaiah the prophet.

28 वह स्वदेश लौटते समय अपने रथ में बैठे हुए भविष्यवक्ता यशायाह का लेख पढ़ रहा था.

29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that chariot and stay by it.”

29 पवित्र आत्मा ने फ़िलिप्पॉस को आज्ञा दी, “आगे बढ़ो और रथ के साथ साथ चलते जाओ.”

30 So Philip ran up and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

30 फ़िलिप्पॉस दौड़कर रथ के पास पहुंचे. उन्होंने उस व्यक्ति को भविष्यवक्ता यशायाह के ग्रंथ से पढ़ते हुए सुना तो उससे प्रश्न किया, “आप जो पढ़ रहे हैं, क्या उसे समझ रहे हैं?”

31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

31 “भला मैं इसे कैसे समझ सकता हूं जब तक कोई मुझे ये सब न समझाए?” मंत्री ने उत्तर दिया. इसलिये उसने फ़िलिप्पॉस से रथ में बैठने की विनती की.

32 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth.

32 खोजे जो भाग पढ़ रहा था, वह यह था: “वध के लिए ले जाए जा रहे मेमने के समान उसको ले जाया गया, तथा जैसे ऊन कतरनेवाले के सामने मेमना शांत रहता है, वैसे ही उसने भी अपना मुख न खोला.

33 In His humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can recount His descendants? For His life was removed from the earth.”

33 अपने अपमान में वह न्याय से वंचित रह गए. कौन उनके वंशजों का वर्णन करेगा? क्योंकि पृथ्वी पर से उनका जीवन समाप्‍त कर दिया गया.”

34 “Tell me,” said the eunuch, “who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?”

34 खोजे ने फ़िलिप्पॉस से विनती की, “कृपया मुझे बताएं, भविष्यवक्ता यह किसका वर्णन कर रहे हैं—अपना, या किसी और का?”

35 Then Philip began with this very Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

35 तब फ़िलिप्पॉस ने पवित्र शास्त्र के उसी भाग से प्रारंभ कर मसीह येशु के विषय में ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार स्पष्ट किया.

36 As they traveled along the road and came to some water, the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is there to prevent me from being baptized?”

36 जब वे मार्ग में ही थे, एक जलाशय को देख खोजे ने फ़िलिप्पॉस से पूछा, “यह देखिए, जल! मेरे बपतिस्मा लेने में क्या कोई बाधा है?” [

37 फ़िलिप्पॉस ने उत्तर दिया, “यदि आप सारे हृदय से विश्वास करते हैं तो आप बपतिस्मा ले सकते हैं.” खोजे ने कहा, “मैं विश्वास करता हूं कि मसीह येशु ही परमेश्वर के पुत्र हैं.”]

38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.

38 तब फ़िलिप्पॉस ने रथ रोकने की आज्ञा दी और स्वयं फ़िलिप्पॉस व खोजे दोनों जल में उतर गए और फ़िलिप्पॉस ने उसे बपतिस्मा दिया.

39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.

39 जब वे दोनों जल से बाहर आए, सहसा फ़िलिप्पॉस प्रभु के आत्मा के द्वारा वहां से उठा लिए गए. वह खोजे को दोबारा दिखाई न दिए. आनंद से भरकर खोजा स्वदेश लौट गया,

40 But Philip appeared at Azotus and traveled through that region, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

40 जबकि फ़िलिप्पॉस अज़ोतॉस नगर में देखे गए. कयसरिया नगर पहुंचते हुए वह मार्ग पर सभी नगरों में ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार का प्रचार करते गए.
