Deuteronomy 6

1 These are the commandments and statutes and ordinances that the LORD your God has instructed me to teach you to follow in the land that you are about to enter and possess,

1 “O Senhor, o seu Deus, me mandou dar a vocês os mandamentos, as ordenanças e as leis que deverão obedecer na terra que vocês passarão a possuir.

2 so that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives by keeping all His statutes and commandments that I give you, and so that your days may be prolonged.

2 Desse modo, vocês, seus filhos e netos temerão o Senhor, o seu Deus, obedecendo enquanto viverem a todas as instruções e mandamentos que ordeno, todos os dias das suas vidas, para que os seus dias sejam prolongados.

3 Hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe them, so that you may prosper and multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

3 Portanto, ó Israel, ouça cada ordem com muita atenção, e tenha cuidado de ser obediente em tudo. Assim tudo irá bem e você será muito numeroso numa terra que é fonte de leite e mel, como o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, prometeu.

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One.

4 “Ouça, ó Israel: O Senhor é o nosso Deus, o Senhor somente!

5 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

5 Ame o Senhor, o seu Deus, de todo o seu coração, de toda a sua alma e com todas as suas forças.

6 These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts.

6 Medite sempre nessas palavras que hoje estou ordenando.

7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

7 Ensine-as com diligência aos seus filhos. Converse sobre elas quando estiver em casa, quando estiver andando por algum caminho, quando se deitar e quando se levantar.

8 Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

8 Amarre estes mandamentos nos braços como constante lembrete; fixe-os na sua testa,

9 Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

9 bem como nos batentes das portas de sua casa e nos seus portões!

10 And when the LORD your God brings you into the land He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that He would give you—a land with great and splendid cities that you did not build,

10 “Quando o Senhor, o seu Deus, introduzir vocês na terra que ele prometeu aos seus antepassados, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, e quando ele tiver dado a vocês grandes cidades, que vocês mesmos não construíram,

11 with houses full of every good thing with which you did not fill them, with wells that you did not dig, and with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you eat and are satisfied,

11 casas cheias de coisas boas, de coisas que vocês não fizeram, com poços que vocês não cavaram, com vinhas e oliveiras que vocês não plantaram, e quando vocês comerem e se fartarem,

12 be careful not to forget the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

12 então, cuidado! Não esqueçam que o Senhor tirou vocês da escravidão do Egito.

13 Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only, and take your oaths in His name.

13 Ao Senhor, o seu Deus, vocês devem respeitar, e servir somente a ele, e jurem somente pelo seu nome.

14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you.

14 Não prestem culto aos deuses das nações vizinhas,

15 For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God. Otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.

15 porque o Senhor, o seu Deus, que está sempre presente entre vocês, é Deus zeloso; para que a ira do Senhor, o seu Deus, não se acenda contra vocês, e vocês sejam varridos da face da terra!

16 Do not test the LORD your God as you tested Him at Massah.

16 Não ponham à prova o Senhor, o seu Deus, como aconteceu em Massá.

17 You are to diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and the testimonies and statutes He has given you.

17 Sejam realmente obedientes ao Senhor, o seu Deus, em tudo o que ele ordenou em seus mandamentos e leis.

18 Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, so that it may be well with you and that you may enter and possess the good land that the LORD your God swore to give your fathers,

18 Façam o que é justo e bom aos olhos do Senhor, para que tudo vá bem a vocês. Somente assim vocês poderão entrar e possuir a boa terra que o Senhor prometeu, sob juramento, a seus antepassados.

19 driving out all your enemies before you, as the LORD has said.

19 Expulsem todos os seus inimigos que vivem naquela terra, como o Senhor falou.

20 In the future, when your son asks, “What is the meaning of the decrees and statutes and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?”

20 “No futuro, quando os seus filhos fizerem esta pergunta: ‘O que significam estas leis e mandamentos que o Senhor, o nosso Deus ordenou a vocês?’,

21 then you are to tell him, “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

21 vocês lhes responderão: ‘Éramos escravos do faraó, no Egito, mas o Senhor nos tirou de lá com grande poder.

22 Before our eyes the LORD inflicted great and devastating signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household.

22 O Senhor realizou grandes sinais e ações terríveis ao Egito, ao faraó e a toda a sua família. Nossos olhos viram tudo!

23 But He brought us out from there to lead us in and give us the land that He had sworn to our fathers.

23 Mas o Senhor nos tirou do Egito para trazer-nos à terra que ele tinha prometido, sob juramento, aos nossos antepassados.

24 And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes and to fear the LORD our God, that we may always be prosperous and preserved, as we are to this day.

24 E o Senhor ordenou que obedecêssemos a todas estas leis e que temêssemos ao Senhor, o nosso Deus, para que tudo corra bem, porque assim ele preservará a nossa vida, como tem feito até agora.

25 And if we are careful to observe every one of these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us, then that will be our righteousness.”

25 E, se tivermos cuidado em obedecer a todas estas leis diante do Senhor, nosso Deus, como ele nos ordenou, tudo correrá bem’.
