Hebrews 2

1 We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

1 Meidän on tarkasti pidettävä kiinni sanomasta, jonka olemme kuulleet, ettemme vain joudu harhateille.

2 For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment,

2 Jo enkelienkin tuomat sanomat ovat aina osoittautuneet tosiksi, ja ihmiset, jotka eivät ole niitä totelleet, ovat saaneet oikeudenmukaisen rangaistuksen.

3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

3 Kuinka me siis voimme kuvitella pääsevämme pakoon, jos suhtaudumme välinpitämättömästi siihen ainutkertaiseen pelastukseen, jonka itse Herra Jeesus ilmoitti ja josta me saimme tiedon hänen omilta oppilailtaan?

4 and was affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.

4 Jumala on tunnusmerkeillä ja ihmeteoilla osoittanut meille, että hänen lähettämänsä sanoma on tosi. Hän on myös antanut meille Pyhän Hengen lahjoja sen mukaan kuin on tahtonut.

5 For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.

5 Tulevaa maailmaa, josta nyt puhumme, eivät hallitse enkelit.

6 But somewhere it is testified in these words: “What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

6 Mutta psalmeissa Daavid sanoo Jumalalle: »Mikä ihminen on, kun huolehdit hänestä? Entä kuka on tämä Ihmisen Poika, jolle olet antanut näin suuren kunnian?

7 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor

7 Vähäksi aikaa teit hänet enkeleitä halvemmaksi, mutta nyt olet kruunannut hänet kirkkaudella ja kunnialla.

8 and placed everything under his feet.” When God subjected all things to him, He left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him.

8 Olet antanut kaiken hänen johtoonsa. Mitään ei ole jäänyt hänen valtapiirinsä ulkopuolelle.» Tätä kaikkea emme vielä saa nähdä,

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

9 mutta sen näemme, että Jumala on kruunannut Jeesuksen kunnialla ja kirkkaudella, koska hän kärsi kuoleman meidän puolestamme. Vain vähän aikaa hän siis oli alempiarvoisempi kuin enkelit. Jumalan suuren hyvyyden tähden Jeesus kuoli jokaisen ihmisen puolesta.

10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.

10 Jumala, kaiken Luoja, lähetti Jeesuksen tänne kärsimään, sillä näin Jeesus vei suuret joukot Jumalan omia taivaaseen, ja kärsiessään Jeesuksesta tuli heidän täydellinen Pelastajansa.

11 For both the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.

11 Jeesus puhdisti meidät synnistä, ja meillä on nyt sama Isä kuin hänellä. Siksi Jeesus ei häpeä nimittää meitä veljikseen.

12 He says: “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the assembly.”

12 Hänhän sanoo psalmeissa: »Kerron veljilleni Isästäni, Jumalasta, ja me ylistämme häntä yhdessä.»

13 And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And once again: “Here am I, and the children God has given Me.”

13 Toisella kertaa hän sanoi: »Me luotamme Jumalaan», ja: »Tässä olen yhdessä lasten kanssa, jotka sain Jumalalta.»

14 Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,

14 Nämä lapset ovat ihmisiä, lihaa ja verta, ja siksi Jeesuskin syntyi ihmiseksi. Vain ihmisenä hän saattoi kuolla ja voittaa paholaisen, jolla oli kuolema vallassaan.

15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

15 Vain tällä tavoin hän voi vapauttaa ihmiset, jotka olivat koko elämänsä olleet kuolemanpelon orjia.

16 For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.

16 Tiedämme kaikki, ettei hän tullut tänne enkelinä vaan ihmisenä – niin, juutalaisena.

17 For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.

17 Jeesuksen täytyi tulla samanlaiseksi ihmiseksi kuin me, hänen veljensä, olemme voidakseen olla meidän ylipappimme Jumalan edessä. Hän oli armahtava ja Jumalalle uskollinen toimittaessaan hyvityksen kansan synneistä.

18 Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.

18 Koska hän on itse joutunut kärsimään ja kokemaan kiusauksia, hän tietää millaista meillä on ja voi meitä auttaa.
