Isaiah 26

1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation is established as its walls and ramparts.

1 Ouçam o povo cantando! Naquele dia, toda a terra de Judá vai cantar este cântico: “Nossa cidade é forte e bem protegida! Estamos cercados pelos altos muros da salvação de Deus!”

2 Open the gates so a righteous nation may enter—one that remains faithful.

2 Abram os portões! Deixem a nação justa entrar, a nação que se mantém fiel e obediente.

3 You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.

3 O Senhor guardará em perfeita paz todos os que confiam nele, aqueles cujo propósito está firme, porque confiam no Senhor.

4 Trust in the LORD forever, because GOD the LORD is the Rock eternal.

4 Confiem para sempre no Senhor, pois o Senhor, somente o Senhor, é a Rocha eterna.

5 For He has humbled those who dwell on high; He lays the lofty city low. He brings it down to the ground; He casts it into the dust.

5 Ele humilha os orgulhosos; rebaixa e arrasa a cidade arrogante e cheia de si, e a lança ao pó.

6 Feet trample it down—the feet of the oppressed, the steps of the poor.

6 E depois ele a entrega aos pobres e necessitados, que a pisam nas suas ruínas.

7 The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the upright.

7 Mas o caminho do homem justo é plano. O Senhor torna o caminho fácil e reto para quem obedece a ele.

8 Yes, we wait for You, O LORD; we walk in the path of Your judgments. Your name and renown are the desire of our souls.

8 Andando nos caminhos dos seus mandamentos, esperamos no Senhor. O que mais desejamos é glorificar o seu nome.

9 My soul longs for You in the night; indeed, my spirit seeks You at dawn. For when Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

9 Durante a noite eu busco o Senhor, de toda a minha alma; e logo cedo o meu espírito anseia pelo Senhor. Quando o Senhor vier julgar o mundo é que os homens vão desviar-se do mal e aprender a fazer o que é direito.

10 Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.

10 A sua bondade com os maus não os faz praticar o bem. Mesmo vivendo na terra da retidão, eles continuam fazendo o mal e desprezando a glória e o poder do Senhor.

11 O LORD, Your hand is upraised, but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will consume them!

11 Eles não veem a sua mão levantada, pronta para o castigo. Mostre-lhes o seu amor para o com o seu povo; talvez assim eles sintam vergonha. Sim, que o fogo preparado para os inimigos de Deus os consuma.

12 O LORD, You will establish peace for us. For all that we have accomplished, You have done for us.

12 O Senhor estabelece a paz para nós, porque tudo o que somos e temos veio da sua mão.

13 O LORD our God, other lords besides You have ruled over us, but Your name alone do we confess.

13 Ó Senhor, nosso Deus, temos sido dominados por outros senhores, mas agora só lembramos o seu nome.

14 The dead will not live; the departed spirits will not rise. Therefore You have punished and destroyed them; You have wiped out all memory of them.

14 Aqueles povos estão mortos e não voltarão a viver. O Senhor castigou e destruiu todos eles, e agora já não estão mais em nossa lembrança.

15 You have enlarged the nation, O LORD; You have enlarged the nation. You have gained glory for Yourself; You have extended all the borders of the land.

15 O Senhor fez a nossa nação crescer, aumentou as terras de nossa gente, e isso trouxe glória ao seu nome.

16 O LORD, they sought You in their distress; when You disciplined them, they poured out a quiet prayer.

16 Na hora do sofrimento, eles o buscaram, Senhor. Quando o seu castigo caiu sobre eles, derramaram suas fracas orações.

17 As a woman with child about to give birth writhes and cries out in pain, so were we in Your presence, O LORD.

17 Sofremos como a mulher grávida que vai dar à luz, que geme e se contorce de dor! Assim estamos diante da sua presença, ó Senhor.

18 We were with child; we writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any life into the world.

18 Nós também sofremos e gememos, ficamos em agonia. Mas de nada adiantou; não trouxemos salvação à terra, não demos à luz os habitantes do mundo.

19 Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your dew is like the dew of the morning, and the earth will bring forth her dead.

19 Mas temos esta certeza: os que pertencem ao Senhor voltarão a viver. Os seus corpos serão ressuscitados! Os que já foram enterrados vão despertar e cantar de alegria. A luz da vida vai cair sobre eles como o orvalho, a terra dará à luz os seus mortos.

20 Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourselves a little while until the wrath has passed.

20 Meu povo, vá para casa! Tranque bem as portas! Fique escondido por um pouco até que passe a ira do Senhor.

21 For behold, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will reveal her bloodshed and will no longer conceal her slain.

21 Vejam! O Senhor está saindo da sua morada no céu para castigar os homens por causa de seus pecados. A terra mostrará o sangue derramado sobre ela; não encobrirá mais os seus mortos.
