John 14

1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well.

1 “Que o coração de vocês não fique aflito. Creiam em Deus; creiam também em mim.

2 In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

2 Existem muitas moradas na casa do meu Pai; se não fosse assim, eu lhes diria. Vou preparar moradas para vocês.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.

3 E quando tudo estiver pronto, então eu virei buscar todos, para que possam sempre estar onde eu estiver.

4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

4 E vocês conhecem o caminho para onde eu vou”.

5 “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?”

5 “Senhor, nós não sabemos para onde o Senhor vai”, disse Tomé. “Como então podemos saber o caminho?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

6 Jesus disse: “Eu sou o Caminho, a Verdade e a Vida. Ninguém pode chegar ao Pai, a não ser por mim.

7 If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

7 Se vocês realmente me conhecessem, então saberiam quem é o meu Pai. Desde agora vocês o conhecem e o têm visto”.

8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

8 Filipe disse: “Senhor, mostre-nos o Pai, e ficaremos satisfeitos”.

9 Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

9 Jesus respondeu: “Você nem sabe ainda quem sou eu, Filipe, mesmo depois de todo esse tempo que tenho estado com vocês? Qualquer um que me vê, vê o Pai! Portanto, como você está pedindo para ver meu Pai?

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.

10 Você não crê que eu estou no Pai e que o Pai está em mim? As palavras que eu digo não são propriamente minhas, mas do Pai que vive em mim. E ele faz a sua obra por meu intermédio.

11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.

11 Basta vocês crerem em mim quando eu digo que estou no Pai e que o Pai está em mim. Creiam nisto ao menos por causa das mesmas obras.

12 Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

12 Digo a verdade a vocês: Aquele que crê em mim fará as mesmas obras que eu tenho realizado, e fará ainda maiores do que estas, porque eu vou para a presença do Pai.

13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

13 Vocês podem pedir a ele qualquer coisa em meu nome, e eu o farei, e assim o Pai será glorificado por meio do Filho.

14 If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.

14 Sim, peçam qualquer coisa em meu nome, e eu o farei!

15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

15 “Se vocês me amam, obedecerão aos meus mandamentos;

16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever—

16 e eu pedirei ao Pai e ele dará a vocês outro Consolador, que nunca deixará vocês.

17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.

17 É o Espírito da verdade. O mundo não o pode receber, porque não o vê nem o conhece. Mas vocês o conhecem, porque ele mora com todos agora e estará em vocês.

18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

18 Não, eu não abandonarei vocês nem os deixarei como órfãos. Eu voltarei para vocês.

19 In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.

19 Daqui a pouco eu terei ido embora do mundo, mas continuarei presente com vocês. Porque eu vivo, vocês também viverão.

20 On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.

20 Quando eu tornar a viver, vocês compreenderão que eu estou em meu Pai, vocês em mim, e eu em vocês.

21 Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”

21 Aquele que tem os meus mandamentos e lhes obedece, esse é o que me ama. Aquele que me ama será amado por meu Pai, e eu também o amarei, e me revelarei a ele”.

22 Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”

22 Judas (não o Iscariotes) disse: “Por que o Senhor vai se revelar somente a nós e não ao mundo?”

23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

23 Jesus respondeu: “Quem me ama guardará a minha palavra. O Pai também o amará, e nós haveremos de vir e morar nele.

24 Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. The word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me.

24 Todo aquele que não me ama não obedece às minhas palavras. E lembrem-se: Não sou eu que estou inventando essa resposta para a pergunta de vocês! É a resposta dada pelo Pai, que me enviou.

25 All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you.

25 “Eu digo essas coisas agora, enquanto ainda estou com vocês.

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.

26 Mas, quando o Pai enviar o Consolador, o Espírito Santo, que virá em meu nome, ele ensinará todas as coisas a vocês, e fará lembrar todas as coisas que eu mesmo tenho dito a vocês.

27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.

27 Deixo a paz com vocês! E minha paz eu dou a vocês. Não é como a paz que o mundo dá. Portanto, não se aflijam nem tenham medo.

28 You heard Me say, ‘I am going away, and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.

28 “Lembrem-se do que eu lhes disse: Vou embora, mas voltarei para vocês. Se vocês realmente me amarem, ficarão muito contentes comigo, porque agora eu posso ir para o Pai, que é maior do que eu.

29 And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.

29 Eu lhes disse essas coisas antes que elas aconteçam para que, quando acontecerem, vocês creiam.

30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming, and he has no claim on Me.

30 Não tenho muito tempo mais para falar com vocês, porque o príncipe deste mundo está se aproximando. Ele não tem nenhum poder sobre mim.

31 But I do exactly what the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us go on from here.

31 Porém eu farei de espontânea vontade o que o Pai manda, para que o mundo saiba que eu amo o Pai. Levantem-se, vamos sair daqui”.
