Psalms 124

1 A song of ascents. Of David. If the LORD had not been on our side—let Israel now declare—

1 Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado; responda Israel:

2 if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,

2 Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado, quando os inimigos nos atacaram,

3 when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,

3 eles já nos teriam engolido vivos, tão grande era a sua fúria contra nós.

4 then the floods would have engulfed us, then the torrent would have overwhelmed us,

4 Teríamos sido arrastados pelas águas, e a enchente nos teria afogado;

5 then the raging waters would have swept us away.

5 sim, teríamos sido afogados na correnteza violenta do ódio dos nossos inimigos.

6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

6 Bendito seja o Senhor, que não deixou que fôssemos destruídos pelos nossos inimigos.

7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.

7 Escapamos vivos como uma ave que foge da armadilha do caçador. A armadilha se quebrou e ficamos livres!

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

8 O nosso socorro está no nome do Senhor, o Criador dos céus e da terra!
