Psalms 82

1 A Psalm of Asaph. God presides in the divine assembly; He renders judgment among the gods:

1 Ein Psalm Asaphs. Gott steht in der Gottesversammlung, inmitten der Götter richtet er:

2 “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah

2 «Wie lange wollt ihr ungerecht richten und die Person des Schuldigen ansehen? (Pause.)

3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.

3 Schafft dem Geringen und Verwaisten Recht, rechtfertigt den Elenden und Armen!

4 Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.

4 Lasset den Geringen und Dürftigen frei, errettet ihn aus der Hand der Gottlosen!»

5 They do not know or understand; they wander in the darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

5 Aber sie wollen nichts merken und nichts verstehen, sondern wandeln in der Finsternis; es wanken alle Stützen des Landes!

6 I have said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.’

6 Ich habe gesagt: «Ihr seid Götter und allzumal Kinder des Höchsten;

7 But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall.”

7 dennoch sollt ihr sterben wie Menschen und fallen wie einer der Fürsten!»

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.

8 Mache dich auf, o Gott, richte die Erde; denn du bist Erbherr über alle Nationen!
