Luke 16

1 Jesus also said to His disciples, “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.

1 प्रभु येशु ने अपने शिष्यों को यह वृत्तांत भी सुनाया: “किसी धनी व्यक्ति का एक भंडारी था, जिसके विषय में उसे यह सूचना दी गई कि वह उसकी संपत्ति का दुरुपयोग कर रहा है.

2 So he called him in to ask, ‘What is this I hear about you? Turn in an account of your management, for you cannot be manager any longer.’

2 इसलिये स्वामी ने उसे बुलाकर उससे पूछताछ की: ‘तुम्हारे विषय में मैं यह क्या सुन रहा हूं? अपने प्रबंधन का हिसाब दे दो क्योंकि अब तुम भंडारी के पद पर नहीं रह सकते.’

3 The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking away my position? I am too weak to dig and too ashamed to beg.

3 “भंडारी मन में विचार करने लगा, ‘अब मैं क्या करूं? मालिक मुझ से भंडारी का पद छीन रहा है. मेरा शरीर इतना बलवान नहीं कि मैं भूमि खोदने का काम करूं और लज्जा के कारण मैं भीख भी न मांग सकूंगा.

4 I know what I will do so that after my removal from management, people will welcome me into their homes.’

4 अब मेरे सामने क्या रास्ता बचा रह गया है, मैं समझ गया कि मेरे लिए क्या करना सही है कि मुझे पद से हटा दिए जाने के बाद भी लोगों की मित्रता मेरे साथ बनी रहे.’

5 And he called in each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first.

5 “उसने अपने स्वामी के हर एक कर्ज़दार को बुलवाया. पहले कर्ज़दार से उसने प्रश्न किया, ‘तुम पर मेरे स्वामी का कितना कर्ज़ है?’

6 ‘A hundred measures of olive oil,’ he answered. ‘Take your bill,’ said the manager, ‘sit down quickly, and write fifty.’

6 “ ‘3,000 लीटर तेल,’ उसने उत्तर दिया. “भंडारी ने उससे कहा, ‘लो, यह है तुम्हारा बही खाता. तुरंत बैठकर इसमें 1,500 लिख दो.’

7 Then he asked another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ ‘A hundred measures of wheat,’ he replied. ‘Take your bill and write eighty,’ he told him.

7 “तब उसने दूसरे को बुलाया उससे पूछा, ‘तुम पर कितना कर्ज़ है?’ “ ‘30 टन गेहूं.’ “भंडारी ने कहा, ‘अपना बही खाता लेकर उसमें 24 लिख दो.’

8 The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the sons of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the sons of light.

8 “स्वामी ने इस ठग भंडारी की इस चतुराई भरी योजना की सराहना की: सांसारिक लोग ज्योति की संतान की तुलना में अपने जैसे लोगों के साथ अपने आचार-व्यवहार में कितने अधिक चतुर हैं!

9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to make friends for yourselves so that when it is gone, they will welcome you into eternal dwellings.

9 मैं तुमसे कहता हूं कि सांसारिक संपत्ति का उपयोग अपने मित्र बनाने के लिए करो कि जब यह संपत्ति न रहे तो अनंत काल के घर में तुम्हारा स्वागत हो.

10 Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

10 “वह, जो थोड़े में विश्वासयोग्य है, वह उस ज्यादा में भी विश्वासयोग्य होता है; वह, जो थोड़े में भ्रष्‍ट है, ज्यादा में भी भ्रष्‍ट होगा.

11 So if you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches?

11 इसलिये यदि तुम सांसारिक संपत्ति के प्रति विश्वासयोग्य न पाए गए तो तुम्हें सच्चा धन कौन सौंपेगा?

12 And if you have not been faithful with the belongings of another, who will give you belongings of your own?

12 यदि तुम किसी अन्य की संपत्ति के प्रति विश्वासयोग्य प्रमाणित न हुए तो कौन तुम्हें वह सौंपेगा, जो तुम्हारा ही है?

13 No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

13 “किसी भी दास के लिए दो स्वामियों की सेवा नहीं कर सकता क्योंकि वह एक को तुच्छ मानकर दूसरे के प्रति समर्पित रहेगा या एक का सम्मान करते हुए दूसरे को तुच्छ जानेगा. तुम परमेश्वर और धन दोनों की सेवा कर ही नहीं सकते.”

14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all of this and were scoffing at Jesus.

14 वे फ़रीसी, जिन्हें धन से लगाव था, ये सब सुनकर प्रभु येशु का उपहास करने लगे.

15 So He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is detestable before God.

15 उन्हें संबोधित करते हुए प्रभु येशु ने कहा, “तुम स्वयं को अन्यों के सामने नीतिमान प्रस्तुत करते हो किंतु परमेश्वर तुम्हारे हृदय को जानते हैं. वह, जो मनुष्यों के सामने महान है, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में घृणित है.

16 The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the gospel of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

16 “व्यवस्था और भविष्यवाणियां बपतिस्मा देनेवाले योहन तक प्रभाव में थी. उसके बाद से परमेश्वर के राज्य का प्रचार किया जा रहा है और हर एक इसमें प्रबलता से प्रवेश करता जा रहा है.

17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.

17 स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी का खत्म हो जाना सरल है बजाय इसके कि व्यवस्था का एक भी बिंदु व्यर्थ प्रमाणित हो.

18 Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

18 “वह, जो अपनी पत्नी से तलाक लेकर अन्य स्त्री से विवाह करता है, व्यभिचार करता है; और वह पुरुष, जो उस त्यागी हुई स्त्री से विवाह करता है, व्यभिचार करता है.”

19 Now there was a rich man dressed in purple and fine linen, who lived each day in joyous splendor.

19 प्रभु येशु ने आगे कहा, “एक धनवान व्यक्ति था, जो हमेशा कीमती तथा अच्छे वस्त्र ही पहनता था. उसकी जीवनशैली विलासिता से भरी थी.

20 And a beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores

20 उसके द्वार पर लाज़रॉस नामक एक गरीब व्यक्ति को, जिसका सारा शरीर घावों से भरा था, लाकर छोड़ दिया जाता था.

21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

21 वह धनवान व्यक्ति की मेज़ से नीचे गिरे हुए टुकड़े को खाने के लिए तरसता रहता था; ऊपर से कुत्ते आ-आकर उसके घावों को चाटते रहते थे.

22 One day the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. And the rich man also died and was buried.

22 “एक तय समय पर उस गरीब व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हुई और स्वर्गदूत उसे अब्राहाम के सामने ले गए. कुछ समय बाद धनी व्यक्ति की भी मृत्यु हुई और उसे भूमि में गाड़ दिया गया.

23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham from afar, with Lazarus by his side.

23 अधोलोक की ताड़ना में पड़े हुए धनवान व्यक्ति ने दूर से ही अब्राहाम को देखा, जिनके सामने लाज़रॉस बैठा हुआ था.

24 So he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. For I am in agony in this fire.’

24 उसने अब्राहाम को पुकारा और उनसे कहा, ‘पिता अब्राहाम, मुझ पर कृपा कीजिए और लाज़रॉस को मेरे पास भेज दीजिए कि वह अपनी उंगली का सिरा जल में डुबोकर उससे मेरी जीभ को ठंडक प्रदान करे क्योंकि मैं यहां इस आग की ताड़ना में पड़ा हुआ हूं.’

25 But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

25 “किंतु अब्राहाम ने उसे उत्तर दिया, ‘मेरे पुत्र, यह न भूलो कि अपने शारीरिक जीवन में तुमने अच्छी से अच्छी वस्तुएं प्राप्‍त की जबकि लाज़रॉस ने तुच्छ वस्तुएं, किंतु वह अब यहां सुख और संतोष में है;

26 And besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us and you, so that even those who wish cannot cross from here to you, nor can anyone cross from there to us.’

26 और फिर इन सबके अलावा तुम्हारे और हमारे बीच में एक बड़ी दरार बनायी गयी है, जिससे कि यहां से वहां जाने के इच्छुक वहां न जा सकें और न ही वहां से कोई यहां आ सके.’

27 ‘Then I beg you, father,’ he said, ‘send Lazarus to my father’s house,

27 “इस पर उस धनवान व्यक्ति ने विनती की, ‘तो पिता, मेरी विनती है कि आप उसे मेरे परिजनों के पास भेज दें;

28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also end up in this place of torment.’

28 वहां मेरे पांच भाई हैं—कि वह उन्हें सावधान कर दे, ऐसा न हो कि वे भी इस ताड़ना के स्थान में आ जाएं.’

29 But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let your brothers listen to them.’

29 “अब्राहाम ने उत्तर दिया, ‘उनके पास मोशेह और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के लेख हैं. सही होगा कि वे उनका पालन करें.’

30 ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone is sent to them from the dead, they will repent.’

30 “ ‘नहीं पिता अब्राहाम,’ उसने विरोध करते हुए कहा, ‘वे मन तभी फिराएंगे जब कोई मृत व्यक्ति पुनर्जीवित होकर उनके पास जाएगा.’

31 Then Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

31 “अब्राहाम ने इसके उत्तर में कहा, ‘जब वे मोशेह और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के आदेशों का पालन नहीं करते तो वे किसी दोबारा जीवित हुए व्यक्ति का भी विश्वास न करेंगे.’”
