Proverbs 8

1 Does not wisdom call out, and understanding raise her voice?

1 ¿No está llamando la sabiduría? ¿No está alzando la voz la inteligencia?

2 On the heights overlooking the road, at the crossroads she takes her stand.

2 Está parada en lo más alto de las colinas, donde se cruzan los caminos.

3 Beside the gates to the city, at the entrances she cries out:

3 A un lado de las puertas que llevan a la ciudad, dice a gritos:

4 “To you, O men, I call out, and my cry is to the sons of men.

4 «A ustedes hombres, les hablo a todos ustedes; dirijo mis palabras a toda la humanidad.

5 O simple ones, learn to be shrewd; O fools, gain understanding.

5 Ustedes los necios e inexpertos, ¡adquieran sentido común y aprendan a ser prudentes!

6 Listen, for I speak of noble things, and the opening of my lips will reveal right.

6 Escuchen las cosas importantes que tengo que decirles; mis labios hablarán cosas rectas.

7 For my mouth will speak the truth, and wickedness is detestable to my lips.

7 Mi boca hablará la verdad, porque mis labios detestan la mentira.

8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; none are crooked or perverse.

8 Mis palabras son justas; no hay en ellas perversidad o cosa torcida.

9 They are all plain to the discerning, and upright to those who find knowledge.

9 Mis palabras son claras para el que quiera entender; irreprochables para el que sea sabio.

10 Receive my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold.

10 Elijan mi instrucción en lugar de la plata, y el conocimiento en lugar del oro puro».

11 For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her.

11 Porque la sabiduría vale mucho más que las piedras preciosas; nada se puede comparar con ella.

12 I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

12 Yo, la sabiduría, habito con el buen juicio, y sé dónde encontrar discernimiento y conocimiento.

13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.

13 El que teme al Señor aborrece el mal; yo aborrezco el orgullo y la arrogancia, la mala conducta y el hablar perverso.

14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight and strength.

14 Son míos el consejo y el sentido común; son míos el entendimiento y el poder.

15 By me kings reign, and rulers enact just laws;

15 Por mí reinan los reyes y los gobernantes dictan leyes justas.

16 By me princes rule, and all nobles who govern justly.

16 Por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles dictan leyes justas.

17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me.

17 Amo al que me ama, y los que me buscan, sin duda me hallarán.

18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and righteousness.

18 Tengo riquezas, honra, bienes y prosperidad para repartir.

19 My fruit is better than gold, pure gold, and my harvest surpasses choice silver.

19 Lo que yo doy es mejor que el oro más fino; mi salario es mejor que la plata refinada.

20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,

20 Yo voy por el camino de la rectitud, por las sendas de la justicia.

21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

21 A los que me aman los enriquezco y lleno sus arcas de tesoros.

22 The LORD created me as His first course, before His works of old.

22 El Señor me creó antes que empezara su creación, antes que a ninguna de sus obras.

23 From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, before the earth began.

23 Me formó desde los primeros tiempos, al principio, antes que formara la tierra.

24 When there were no watery depths, I was brought forth, when no springs were overflowing with water.

24 Nací antes que fueran creados los grandes mares, antes que surgieran los manantiales de abundantes aguas,

25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth,

25 antes que los montes y las colinas fueran formados, yo ya había nacido,

26 before He made the land or fields, or any of the dust of the earth.

26 antes que Dios creara la tierra y sus campos y el polvo con el que hizo el mundo.

27 I was there when He established the heavens, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,

27 Yo estaba allí cuando Dios estableció la bóveda celeste y trazó el horizonte sobre las aguas.

28 when He established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep gushed forth,

28 Yo estaba allí cuando estableció las nubes en los cielos y reforzó las fuentes en las profundidades de los mares.

29 when He set a boundary for the sea, so that the waters would not surpass His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth.

29 Yo estaba allí cuando Dios puso límite a los mares y les mandó no salirse de sus bordes,

30 Then I was a skilled craftsman at His side, and His delight day by day, rejoicing always in His presence.

30 yo estaba allí, a su lado. Yo era su continua alegría, disfrutaba estar siempre en su presencia;

31 I was rejoicing in His whole world, delighting together in the sons of men.

31 me alegraba en el mundo que el Señor creó; ¡me gozaba en la humanidad!

32 Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

32 Y ahora, hijos míos, escúchenme: dichosos los que van por mis caminos.

33 Listen to instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.

33 Escuchen mi consejo, y sean sabios; no lo rechacen.

34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at the posts of my doorway.

34 ¡Dichoso el hombre que me escucha, que me espera día tras día atentamente a las puertas de mi casa!

35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains the favor of the LORD.

35 El que me encuentra, halla la vida y recibe la aprobación del Señor.

36 But he who fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.”

36 Pero el que me rechaza, se hace daño a sí mismo; el que me aborrece ama la muerte.
