Psalms 55

1 For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. Listen to my prayer, O God, and do not ignore my plea.

1 परमेश्वर, मेरी प्रार्थना पर ध्यान दीजिए, मेरी गिड़गिड़ाहट को न ठुकराईए;

2 Attend to me and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and distraught

2 मेरी गिड़गिड़ाहट सुनकर, मुझे उत्तर दीजिए. मेरे विचारों ने मुझे व्याकुल कर दिया है.

3 at the voice of the enemy, at the pressure of the wicked. For they bring down disaster upon me and resent me in their anger.

3 शत्रुओं की ललकार ने मुझे निराश कर छोड़ा है; उन्हीं के द्वारा मुझ पर कष्ट उण्डेले गए हैं और वे क्रोध में मुझे खरीखोटी सुना रहे हैं.

4 My heart pounds within me, and the terrors of death assail me.

4 भीतर ही भीतर मेरा हृदय वेदना में भर रहा है; मुझमें मृत्यु का भय समा गया है.

5 Fear and trembling grip me, and horror has overwhelmed me.

5 भय और कंपकंपी ने मुझे भयभीत कर लिया है; मैं आतंक से घिर चुका हूं.

6 I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and find rest.

6 तब मैं विचार करने लगा, “कैसा होता यदि कबूतर समान मेरे पंख होते! और मैं उड़कर दूर शांति में विश्राम कर पाता.

7 How far away I would flee! In the wilderness I would remain. Selah

7 हां, मैं उड़कर दूर चला जाता, और निर्जन प्रदेश में निवास बना लेता.

8 I would hurry to my shelter, far from this raging tempest.”

8 मैं बवंडर और आंधी से दूर, अपने आश्रय-स्थल को लौटने की शीघ्रता करता.”

9 O Lord, confuse and confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city.

9 प्रभु, दुष्टों के मध्य फूट डाल दीजिए, उनकी भाषा में गड़बड़ी कर दीजिए, यह स्पष्ट ही है कि नगर में हिंसा और कलह फूट पड़े हैं.

10 Day and night they encircle the walls, while malice and trouble lie within.

10 दिन-रात वे शहरपनाह पर छिप-छिप कर घूमते रहते हैं; नगर में वैमनस्य और अधर्म का साम्राज्य है.

11 Destruction is within; oppression and deceit never leave the streets.

11 वहां विनाशकारी शक्तियां प्रबल हो रही हैं; गलियों में धमकियां और छल समाप्‍त ही नहीं होते.

12 For it is not an enemy who insults me; that I could endure. It is not a foe who rises against me; from him I could hide.

12 यदि शत्रु मेरी निंदा करता तो यह, मेरे लिए सहनीय है; यदि मेरा विरोधी मेरे विरुद्ध उठ खड़ा हो तो, मैं उससे छिप सकता हूं.

13 But it is you, a man like myself, my companion and close friend.

13 किंतु यहां तो तुम, मेरे साथी, मेरे परम मित्र, मेरे शत्रु हो गए हैं, जो मेरे साथ साथ रहे हैं,

14 We shared sweet fellowship together; we walked with the crowd into the house of God.

14 तुम्हारे ही साथ मैंने संगति के मेल-मिलाप अवसरों का आनंद लिया था, अन्य आराधकों के साथ हम भी साथ साथ परमेश्वर के भवन को जाते थे.

15 Let death seize them by surprise; let them go down to Sheol alive, for evil is with them in their homes.

15 अब उत्तम वही होगा कि अचानक ही मेरे शत्रुओं पर मृत्यु आ पड़े; वे जीवित ही अधोलोक में उतर जाएं, क्योंकि बुराई उनके घर में आ बसी है, उनकी आत्मा में भी.

16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.

16 यहां मैं तो परमेश्वर को ही पुकारूंगा, याहवेह ही मेरा उद्धार करेंगे.

17 Morning, noon, and night, I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice.

17 प्रातः, दोपहर और संध्या मैं पीड़ा में कराहता रहूंगा, और वह मेरी पुकार सुनेंगे.

18 He redeems my soul in peace from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.

18 उन्होंने मुझे उस युद्ध से बिना किसी हानि के सुरक्षित निकाल लिया, जो मेरे विरुद्ध किया जा रहा था जबकि मेरे अनेक विरोधी थे.

19 God will hear and humiliate them—the One enthroned for the ages—Selah because they do not change and they have no fear of God.

19 सर्वदा के सिंहासन पर विराजमान परमेश्वर, मेरी विनती सुनकर उन्हें ताड़ना करेंगे. वे ऐसे हैं, जिनका हृदय परिवर्तित नहीं होता; उनमें परमेश्वर का कोई भय नहीं.

20 My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant.

20 मेरा साथी ही अपने मित्रों पर प्रहार कर रहा है; उसने अपनी वाचा भंग कर दी है.

21 His speech is smooth as butter, but war is in his heart. His words are softer than oil, yet they are swords unsheathed.

21 मक्खन जैसी चिकनी हैं उसकी बातें, फिर भी युद्ध उसके दिल में है; उसके शब्दों में तेल से अधिक कोमलता थी, फिर भी वे नंगी तलवार थे.

22 Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

22 अपने दायित्वों का बोझ याहवेह को सौंप दो, तुम्हारे बल का स्रोत वही हैं; यह हो ही नहीं सकता कि वह किसी धर्मी पुरुष को पतन के लिए शोकित छोड़ दें.

23 But You, O God, will bring them down to the Pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.

23 किंतु परमेश्वर, आपने दुष्टों के लिए विनाश के गड्ढे को निर्धारित किया है; रक्त पिपासु और कपटी मनुष्य अपनी आधी आयु तक भी पहुंच न पाएंगे. किंतु मेरा भरोसा आप पर अटल बना रहेगा.
