Psalms 8

1 For the choirmaster. According to Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

1 Oh Señor, soberano nuestro, ¡qué imponente es tu nombre en toda la tierra! ¡Has puesto tu gloria sobre los cielos!

2 From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.

2 Has enseñado a los pequeños y a los niños de pecho a rendirte perfecta alabanza. ¡Que su ejemplo avergüence a tus enemigos!

3 When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—

3 Cuando alzo la vista al cielo nocturno y contemplo la obra de tus manos, la luna y las estrellas que tú hiciste,

4 what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

4 no logro comprender por qué te ocupas de nosotros, simples mortales.

5 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.

5 Nos hiciste apenas un poco inferior a un dios, y nos coronaste de gloria y de honra.

6 You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet:

6 Pusiste a nuestro cuidado todo cuanto has hecho; todo ha sido puesto bajo nuestra autoridad:

7 all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,

7 las ovejas, bueyes, los animales salvajes,

8 the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

8 las aves, los peces y todos los seres del mar.

9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!

9 ¡Oh Señor nuestro, la majestad y gloria de tu nombre llenan la tierra!
