Revelation 9

1 Then the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the Abyss.

1 Nisso o quinto anjo tocou a sua trombeta, e eu vi uma estrela que caiu do céu na terra, e foi-lhe entregue a chave do abismo insondável.

2 The star opened the pit of the Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.

2 Quando ela abriu o abismo, saiu fumaça como se fosse duma imensa fornalha, e o sol e o céu ficaram escurecidos pela fumaça que saía do abismo.

3 And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth.

3 Então saíram gafanhotos da fumaça e desceram sobre a terra; e foi-lhes dado poder para ferroar como escorpiões da terra.

4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

4 Foi-lhes dito que não prejudicassem a erva, nem as plantas, nem as árvores, mas sim que atacassem as pessoas que não tivessem a marca de Deus na testa.

5 The locusts were not given power to kill them, but only to torment them for five months, and their torment was like the stinging of a scorpion.

5 Eles não deviam matá-las, e sim torturá-las durante cinco meses com sofrimento semelhante à dor da ferroada de escorpião.

6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them.

6 Naqueles dias os homens procurarão matar-se mas não poderão fazê-lo — a morte não virá. Suspirarão por morrer — mas a morte fugirá!

7 And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads; and their faces were like the faces of men.

7 Os gafanhotos pareciam cavalos armados para a batalha. Tinham na cabeça o que pareciam coroas de ouro, e o rosto deles era semelhante a rostos de homens.

8 They had hair like that of women, and teeth like those of lions.

8 O cabelo deles era como o das mulheres, e os dentes como os de leão.

9 They also had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the roar of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.

9 Levavam couraças que pareciam feitas de ferro, e as asas deles roncavam como um exército de carruagens correndo para a batalha.

10 They had tails with stingers like scorpions, which had the power to injure people for five months.

10 Tinham caudas com ferrão, como escorpiões, e o seu poder de ferir, dado a eles por cinco meses, estava na cauda.

11 They were ruled by a king, the angel of the Abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek it is Apollyon.

11 O rei deles é o príncipe do Abismo insondável, cujo nome em hebraico é Abadom, e em grego, Apoliom.

12 The first woe has passed. Behold, two woes are still to follow.

12 Um terror termina aqui, porém há mais dois que ainda vêm!

13 Then the sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God

13 O sexto anjo tocou sua trombeta e eu ouvi uma voz que vinha dos quatro chifres do altar de ouro que está diante do trono de Deus,

14 saying to the sixth angel with the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”

14 dizendo ao sexto anjo que tinha a trombeta: “Solte os quatro anjos que estão amarrados junto ao grande rio Eufrates”.

15 So the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

15 Os quatro anjos estavam de prontidão para aquele ano, mês, dia e hora, e então foram soltos para matar uma terça parte da humanidade.

16 And the number of mounted troops was two hundred million; I heard their number.

16 Eles dirigiam um exército de duzentos milhões de guerreiros — eu ouvi um anúncio de quantos havia.

17 Now the horses and riders in my vision looked like this: The riders had breastplates the colors of fire, sapphire, and sulfur. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths proceeded fire, smoke, and sulfur.

17 E vi os cavalos deles espalhados diante de mim, na minha visão; os seus cavaleiros levavam couraças vermelhas como fogo, embora algumas fossem azul-celeste como o jacinto e outras amarelas como o enxofre. A cabeça dos cavalos parecia muito com a de um leão, e das suas bocas lançavam fumaça, fogo e enxofre incandescente;

18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke, and sulfur that proceeded from their mouths.

18 e mataram uma terça parte da humanidade pelas três pragas: fogo, fumaça e enxofre que saíam das suas bocas.

19 For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; indeed, their tails were like snakes, having heads with which to inflict harm.

19 O seu poder de matar não estava só na boca, mas também na cauda, porque suas caudas eram semelhantes à cabeça de serpentes com as quais feriam as pessoas.

20 Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.

20 Mas os homens que foram deixados vivos depois destas pragas ainda se recusaram a arrepender-se das obras das suas mãos. Não quiseram deixar o seu culto aos demônios, nem seus ídolos feitos de ouro, prata, bronze, pedra e madeira, ídolos que nem podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar!

21 Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft.

21 Tampouco mudaram de opinião ou de atitude a respeito de todos os seus assassinatos e atos de feitiçaria, das suas imoralidades sexuais e dos seus roubos.
