1 Chronicles 13

1 Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.

2 And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.

2 dijo a todo el pueblo de Israel: «Si ustedes están de acuerdo, y si es la voluntad del Señor nuestro Dios, les propongo que procedamos a enviar mensajes a nuestros hermanos, el resto del pueblo que se ha quedado en sus ciudades, y a los sacerdotes, para invitarlos a venir y unirse a nosotros.

3 Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”

3 Y traigamos de regreso el cofre de nuestro Dios, el cual hemos tenido abandonado desde que Saúl inició su reinado».

4 And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.

4 Hubo acuerdo unánime, porque cada uno coincidía con él.

5 So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

5 Por tanto David convocó a los habitantes de Israel, a través de toda la tierra, desde Sijor, en la frontera con Egipto, hasta la entrada de Jamat, para que fueran hasta Quiriat Yearín.

6 David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.

6 Así que David y todo Israel se encaminaron a Balá (es decir, Quiriat Yearín), pueblo de Judá, para llevar a Jerusalén el cofre del Señor, que habita entre los querubines.

7 So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.

7 Procedieron a retirarla de la casa de Abinadab en un carro nuevo. Uza y Ajío guiaban la carreta.

8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

8 David y todo el pueblo bailaban delante del Señor con mucho entusiasmo, acompañados por cánticos, y por cítaras, arpas, panderos, címbalos y trompetas.

9 When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.

9 Pero cuando llegaron al terreno de trilla, en Quidón, los bueyes tropezaron y Uza extendió su mano para mantener la estabilidad del cofre.

10 And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

10 Entonces el Señor descargó su enojo contra Uza y le quitó la vida, porque había tocado el cofre. Y así fue que murió allí, delante de Dios.

11 Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.

11 David, a su vez, se enojó porque el Señor había estallado contra Uza. Por eso, a ese lugar le dio el nombre de Peres Uza. Hasta hoy ese lugar conserva dicho nombre.

12 That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”

12 Luego David sintió miedo de Dios y exclamó: «¡No puedo llevarme el cofre de Dios a mi casa!».

13 So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

13 Finalmente decidió conducirlo a la casa de Obed Edom, el de Gat, en lugar de llevarlo a la Ciudad de David.

14 Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.

14 El cofre permaneció allí en la casa de Obed Edom por tres meses, y el Señor lo bendijo, junto con su familia y sus bienes.
