1 Chronicles 13

1 Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.

1 Depois que Davi havia consultado todos os oficiais, os comandantes de mil e de cem do seu exército,

2 And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.

2 os homens de Israel se reuniram, e Davi falou a eles o seguinte: “Se vocês estão de acordo que esta é a vontade do Senhor, o nosso Deus, então vamos enviar mensagens a nossos irmãos por toda a terra de Israel. Vamos incluir os sacerdotes e os levitas, e convidar todos para que venham das suas cidades unir-se a nós.

3 Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”

3 E vamos trazer de volta a arca de nosso Deus, porque nós nos esquecemos dela desde que Saul se tornou rei”.

4 And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.

4 Todos acharam bom o que Davi disse e concordaram com ele em fazer assim.

5 So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

5 Então Davi convidou o povo de Israel desde o rio Sior, no Egito, até Lebo-Hamate, para que todos estivessem presentes quando a arca de Deus fosse trazida de Quiriate-Jearim.

6 David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.

6 Depois disto, Davi e todos os israelitas foram a Baalá, que é Quiriate-Jearim, em Judá, a fim de buscar a arca de Deus, o Senhor, que está num trono entre os querubins, diante da qual é invocado o seu nome.

7 So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.

7 Ela foi levada da casa de Abinadabe num carro novo. Uzá e Aiô guiavam os bois.

8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

8 Davi e todo o povo festejavam perante o Senhor com grande alegria, acompanhados por cânticos e por instrumentos musicais, como cítaras, harpas, tamborins, címbalos e trombetas.

9 When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.

9 Mas quando chegaram na eira de Quidom, os bois tropeçaram, e Uzá estendeu a mão para segurar a arca para que não caísse.

10 And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

10 Então o Senhor se irou com Uzá e ele o matou por ter tocado na arca. Ele morreu ali mesmo, diante de Deus.

11 Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.

11 Davi ficou triste com o que o Senhor fizera a Uzá, e chamou aquele lugar de Perez-Uzá até hoje.

12 That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”

12 Davi ficou com medo de Deus e perguntou: “Como posso levar para casa a arca de Deus?”

13 So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

13 Por fim ele resolveu levar a arca para a casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu, em vez de levá-la para a Cidade de Davi.

14 Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.

14 A arca de Deus ficou com a família de Obede-Edom durante três meses. E o Senhor abençoou Obede-Edom, a sua família e tudo o que ele possuía.
