1 Chronicles 23

1 When David was old and full of years, he installed his son Solomon as king over Israel.

1 Por esse tempo Davi já era bem idoso, por isso nomeou o seu filho Salomão como o novo rei de Israel.

2 Then he gathered all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites.

2 Ele reuniu todos os líderes de Israel, bem como os sacerdotes e os levitas.

3 The Levites thirty years of age or older were counted, and the total number of men was 38,000.

3 Nessa ocasião, foi feita a contagem dos homens da tribo de Levi que tinham trinta anos ou mais. O número total deles chegou a trinta e oito mil.

4 “Of these,” said David, “24,000 are to oversee the work of the house of the LORD, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,

4 “Vinte e quatro mil deles vão supervisionar a construção do templo do Senhor”, disse Davi; “e seis mil vão ser oficiais de justiça e juízes;

5 4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments I have made for giving praise.”

5 quatro mil serão guardas das portas do templo e quatro mil vão louvar o Senhor com os instrumentos de música que eu fiz para esse fim”.

6 Then David divided the Levites into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

6 Depois Davi dividiu os homens em três grupos principais com os nomes dos filhos de Levi: de Gérson, de Coate e de Merari.

7 The Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.

7 Dos filhos de Gérson: Ladã e Simei.

8 The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the first, Zetham, and Joel—three in all.

8 Estes foram os filhos de Ladã: Jeiel, o primeiro; Zetã e Joel, três ao todo;

9 The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran—three in all. These were the heads of the families of Ladan.

9 Estes foram os filhos de Simei: Selomote, Haziel e Harã, três ao todo. Estes foram os chefes das famílias de Ladã.

10 And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These were the sons of Shimei—four in all.

10 E os quatro filhos de Simei foram: Jaate, Ziza, Jeús e Berias. Estes foram os filhos de Simei.

11 Jahath was the first and Zizah was the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were counted as one family and received a single assignment.

11 Jaate foi o primeiro e Ziza, o segundo. Jeús e Berias não tiveram muitos descendentes e por isso foram contados como um só grupo de famílias.

12 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel—four in all.

12 Coate teve quatro filhos: Anrão, Jizar, Hebrom e Uziel.

13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart forever to consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name forever.

13 Os filhos de Anrão foram Arão e Moisés. Arão e seus descendentes foram separados para sempre para o serviço santo de queimar sobre o altar as ofertas que o povo trazia ao Senhor. Ele servia ao Senhor todo o tempo e era ele quem dava a bênção em nome do Senhor.

14 As for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

14 Os filhos de Moisés, homem de Deus, foram contados com a tribo de Levi.

15 The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

15 Estes foram os filhos de Moisés: Gérson e Eliezer.

16 The descendants of Gershom: Shebuel was the first.

16 Os descendentes de Gérson eram chefiados por Sebuel,

17 The descendants of Eliezer: Rehabiah was the first. Eliezer did not have any other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.

17 e Reabias, o único filho de Eliezer, era o chefe dos descendentes de Eliezer, pois teve muitos filhos.

18 The sons of Izhar: Shelomith was the first.

18 Selomite foi o chefe dos filhos de Jizar.

19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah was the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

19 Estes foram os filhos de Hebrom: Jerias era o primeiro, Amarias, o segundo, Jaaziel, o terceiro, e Jecameão, o quarto.

20 The sons of Uzziel: Micah was the first and Isshiah the second.

20 Estes foram os filhos de Uziel: Mica era o primeiro, e Issias, o segundo.

21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

21 Os filhos de Merari foram Mali e Musi. Os filhos de Musi foram Eleazar e Quis.

22 Eleazar died without having any sons; he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.

22 Eleazar morreu sem deixar filhos; ele teve apenas filhas. Elas se casaram com os primos delas, os filhos de Quis.

23 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth—three in all.

23 Os filhos de Musi foram Mali, Éder e Jeremote, três ao todo.

24 These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families, registered individually by name—those twenty years of age or older who worked in the service of the house of the LORD.

24 Estes foram os descendentes de Levi, segundo as suas famílias e chefes de famílias, conforme registrados por seus nomes, os que tinham vinte anos ou mais. E eles ficaram com a responsabilidade de servir no templo do Senhor.

25 For David had said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever.

25 Porque Davi disse: “O Senhor Deus de Israel nos deu paz e ele vai morar em Jerusalém para sempre.

26 So now the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles for its service.”

26 Agora os levitas não precisam mais levar o Tabernáculo nem os objetos usados para o serviço quando mudarem de um lugar para outro”.

27 For according to the final instructions of David, the Levites twenty years of age or older were counted,

27 Esta contagem da tribo de Levi foi uma das últimas coisas que Davi fez antes de morrer.

28 but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible for the courts and chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,

28 O trabalho dos levitas era ajudar os sacerdotes, descendentes de Arão, no serviço feito no templo do Senhor. Eles também eram responsáveis para guardar os objetos sagrados e ajudar nos atos de purificação e qualquer outro serviço da casa de Deus.

29 as well as for the rows of the showbread, the fine flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baking, the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.

29 Eles providenciavam o Pão da Presença, da farinha para as ofertas de cereais, e dos bolos sem fermento, de assar o pão e de misturar a massa — frita ou misturada com azeite. Eles também conferiam todos os pesos e todas as medidas.

30 They were also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the LORD, and likewise in the evening.

30 Todas as manhãs e todas as tardes se apresentavam ao Senhor para cantar hinos de ações de graças e louvar a Deus.

31 Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.

31 Ajudavam nos sacrifícios especiais de ofertas queimadas, nos sacrifícios feitos no sábado, nas festas de lua nova e em todas as outras festas. Sempre havia levitas presentes conforme o número prescrito para eles.

32 So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.

32 Eles cuidavam do Tabernáculo, do santuário e de ajudar os seus parentes, os descendentes de Arão, no serviço do templo do Senhor; eles ajudavam os sacerdotes em tudo que estes precisavam.
