2 Thessalonians 2

1 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers,

1 E agora, uma palavra sobre a volta do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e a nossa reunião com ele. Pedimos a vocês

2 not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come.

2 que não fiquem, absolutamente, perturbados e aflitos, irmãos, com o rumor de que o dia do Senhor já começou. Se vocês ouvirem de pessoas que têm uma profecia, uma palavra, ou de uma carta que dizem ter sido mandada por nós, não creiam nisso.

3 Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.

3 Não se deixem enganar por ninguém, não obstante o que eles digam. Porque aquele dia não chegará enquanto não acontecerem duas coisas: primeiramente, haverá uma época de grande rebelião contra Deus, e depois virá o homem da rebelião, o filho da perdição.

4 He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

4 Ele se oporá a qualquer deus que houver e derrubará qualquer outro objeto de culto e adoração. Ele se assentará como Deus no templo de Deus, alegando ser o próprio Deus.

5 Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?

5 Vocês não se lembram de que eu lhes falei a este respeito quando estava aí?

6 And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.

6 E vocês sabem quem o está impedindo de já estar aqui; pois ele só pode vir quando tiver chegado a sua hora.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.

7 A obra desse homem da rebelião já está em marcha, mas ainda aguarda que se afaste do caminho aquele que a detém.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival.

8 E então aparecerá o perverso, a quem o Senhor Jesus matará com o sopro da sua boca, e o destruirá com sua presença quando voltar.

9 The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder,

9 Esse perverso virá como instrumento de Satanás, cheio de poder e falsos milagres e maravilhas.

10 and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them.

10 Ele enganará completamente aqueles que estão perecendo porque rejeitaram a verdade; recusaram-se a crer nela e a amá-la, e a deixar que ela os salvasse.

11 For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie,

11 Portanto, Deus permitirá que eles creiam nessas mentiras, por meio do seu poder sedutor,

12 in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.

12 e todos eles serão julgados com justiça por terem crido na falsidade, rejeitando a verdade e sentindo prazer na injustiça.

13 But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.

13 Mas nós devemos dar para sempre graças a Deus por vocês, irmãos amados pelo Senhor, porque Deus escolheu desde o princípio dar-lhes a salvação, purificando-os pela obra do Espírito Santo e pela fé na verdade.

14 To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

14 Por nosso intermédio ele apresentou o evangelho a vocês. Por nosso intermédio ele os chamou para participarem da glória do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.

15 Portanto, irmãos, permaneçam firmes e mantenham-se fortemente seguros na verdade que nós lhes ensinamos em nossas cartas e durante o tempo que estivemos aí.

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope,

16 Que o próprio Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor, e Deus, nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu consolo e esperança eterna, que não merecemos,

17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed.

17 anime seus corações com todo o consolo, e os ajude a fazer sempre o bem, tanto em atos como em palavras.
