Job 26

1 Then Job answered:

1 Então Jó respondeu:

2 “How you have helped the powerless and saved the arm that is feeble!

2 “Mas que grande ajuda você me dá, quando estou fraco e desanimado da vida! Que socorro você prestou ao braço que não tinha vigor?

3 How you have counseled the unwise and provided fully sound insight!

3 Que fabuloso conselheiro você é, e que grande sabedoria você revelou!

4 To whom have you uttered these words? And whose spirit spoke through you?

4 Como foi que chegou a conclusões tão brilhantes? Quem o ajudou a descobrir essas grandes verdades?

5 The dead tremble—those beneath the waters and those who dwell in them.

5 “No reino dos mortos, os homens tremem de medo debaixo da água, com os seus moradores.

6 Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.

6 A morte está nua perante Deus, e nada encobre a destruição.

7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth upon nothing.

7 Ele estende os céus do norte sobre o espaço vazio e faz a terra flutuar sobre o nada.

8 He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their own weight.

8 Conserva a chuva em grossas nuvens, que não se rompem com o peso da água.

9 He covers the face of the full moon, spreading over it His cloud.

9 Com as suas nuvens ele esconde a face da lua cheia.

10 He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.

10 Ele colocou um limite para os oceanos, uma divisão entre a luz e as trevas para o dia e a noite.

11 The foundations of heaven quake, astounded at His rebuke.

11 Quando Deus fica irado, até as colunas do céu estremecem e ficam perplexas.

12 By His power He stirred the sea; by His understanding He shattered Rahab.

12 Com o seu poder ele agita o mar; com a sua sabedoria ele derrota o Monstro dos Mares.

13 By His breath the skies were cleared; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

13 Com um simples sopro ele transforma uma tempestade em céu azul; com sua mão matou a serpente arisca.

14 Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”

14 Isso é apenas uma amostra do poder de Deus, um simples sinal; quando ele mostrar toda a sua gloriosa força, quem será capaz de sobreviver?”
