Job 34

1 Then Elihu continued:

1 以利户又说：

2 “Hear my words, O wise men; give ear to me, O men of learning.

2 你们智慧人要听我的话； 有知识的人要留心听我说。

3 For the ear tests words as the mouth tastes food.

3 因为耳朵试验话语， 好像上膛尝食物。

4 Let us choose for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good.

4 我们当选择何为是， 彼此知道何为善。

5 For Job has declared, ‘I am righteous, yet God has deprived me of justice.

5 约伯曾说：我是公义， 神夺去我的理；

6 Would I lie about my case? My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.’

6 我虽有理，还算为说谎言的； 我虽无过，受的伤还不能医治。

7 What man is like Job, who drinks up derision like water?

7 谁像约伯， 喝讥诮如同喝水呢？

8 He keeps company with evildoers and walks with wicked men.

8 他与作孽的结伴， 和恶人同行。

9 For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight in God.’

9 他说：人以 神为乐， 总是无益。

10 Therefore listen to me, O men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wrong, and from the Almighty to act unjustly.

10 所以，你们明理的人要听我的话。 神断不致行恶； 全能者断不致作孽。

11 For according to a man’s deeds He repays him; according to a man’s ways He brings consequences.

11 他必按人所做的报应人， 使各人照所行的得报。

12 Indeed, it is true that God does not act wickedly, and the Almighty does not pervert justice.

12 神必不作恶； 全能者也不偏离公平。

13 Who gave Him charge over the earth? Who appointed Him over the whole world?

13 谁派他治理地， 安定全世界呢？

14 If He were to set His heart to it and withdraw His Spirit and breath,

14 他若专心为己， 将灵和气收归自己，

15 all flesh would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.

15 凡有血气的就必一同死亡； 世人必仍归尘土。

16 If you have understanding, hear this; listen to my words.

16 你若明理，就当听我的话， 留心听我言语的声音。

17 Could one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn the just and mighty One,

17 难道恨恶公平的可以掌权吗？ 那有公义的、有大能的，岂可定他有罪吗？

18 who says to kings, ‘You are worthless!’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’

18 他对君王说：你是鄙陋的； 对贵臣说：你是邪恶的。

19 who is not partial to princes and does not favor rich over poor? For they are all the work of His hands.

19 他待王子不徇情面， 也不看重富足的过于贫穷的， 因为都是他手所造。

20 They die in an instant, in the middle of the night. The people convulse and pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.

20 在转眼之间，半夜之中， 他们就死亡。 百姓被震动而去世； 有权力的被夺去非借人手。

21 For His eyes are on the ways of a man, and He sees his every step.

21 神注目观看人的道路， 看明人的脚步。

22 There is no darkness or deep shadow where the workers of iniquity can hide.

22 没有黑暗、阴翳能给作孽的藏身。

23 For God need not examine a man further or have him approach for judgment.

23 神审判人，不必使人到他面前再三鉴察。

24 He shatters the mighty without inquiry and sets up others in their place.

24 他用难测之法打破有能力的人， 设立别人代替他们。

25 Therefore, He recognizes their deeds; He overthrows them in the night and they are crushed.

25 他原知道他们的行为， 使他们在夜间倾倒灭亡。

26 He strikes them for their wickedness in full view,

26 他在众人眼前击打他们， 如同击打恶人一样。

27 because they turned aside from Him and had no regard for any of His ways.

27 因为他们偏行不跟从他， 也不留心他的道，

28 They caused the cry of the poor to come before Him, and He heard the outcry of the afflicted.

28 甚至使贫穷人的哀声达到他那里； 他也听了困苦人的哀声。

29 But when He remains silent, who can condemn Him? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both man and nation,

29 他使人安静，谁能扰乱 呢？ 他掩面，谁能见他呢？ 无论待一国或一人都是如此—

30 that godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people.

30 使不虔敬的人不得作王， 免得有人牢笼百姓。

31 Suppose someone says to God, ‘I have endured my punishment; I will offend no more.

31 有谁对 神说： 我受了责罚，不再犯罪；

32 Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not do it again.’

32 我所看不明的，求你指教我； 我若作了孽，必不再作？

33 Should God repay you on your own terms when you have disavowed Him? You must choose, not I; so tell me what you know.

33 他施行报应， 岂要随你的心愿、叫你推辞不受吗？ 选定的是你，不是我。 你所知道的只管说吧！

34 Men of understanding will declare to me, and the wise men who hear me will say:

34 明理的人和听我话的智慧人必对我说：

35 ‘Job speaks without knowledge; his words lack insight.’

35 约伯说话没有知识， 言语中毫无智慧。

36 If only Job were tried to the utmost for answering like a wicked man.

36 愿约伯被试验到底， 因他回答像恶人一样。

37 For he adds rebellion to his sin; he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.”

37 他在罪上又加悖逆； 在我们中间拍手， 用许多言语轻慢 神。
