Matthew 26

1 When Jesus had finished saying all these things, He told His disciples,

1 इस रहस्य के खुलने के बाद येशु ने शिष्यों को देखकर कहा,

2 “You know that the Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

2 “यह तो तुम्हें मालूम ही है कि दो दिन बाद फ़सह उत्सव है. इस समय मनुष्य के पुत्र को क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए सौंप दिया जाएगा.”

3 At that time the chief priests and elders of the people assembled in the courtyard of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,

3 दूसरी ओर प्रधान पुरोहित और वरिष्ठ नागरिक कायाफ़स नामक महापुरोहित के घर के आंगन में इकट्ठा हुए.

4 and they conspired to arrest Jesus covertly and kill Him.

4 उन्होंने मिलकर येशु को छलपूर्वक पकड़कर उनकी हत्या कर देने का विचार किया.

5 “But not during the feast,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”

5 वे यह विचार भी कर रहे थे: “यह फ़सह उत्सव के अवसर पर न किया जाए—कहीं इससे लोगों में बलवा न भड़क उठे.”

6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper,

6 जब येशु बैथनियाह गांव में शिमओन के घर पर थे—वही शिमओन, जिसे पहले कोढ़ रोग हुआ था,

7 a woman came to Him with an alabaster jar of expensive perfume, which she poured on His head as He reclined at the table.

7 एक स्त्री उनके पास संगमरमर के बर्तन में कीमती इत्र लेकर आई. उसे उसने भोजन के लिए बैठे येशु के सिर पर उंडेल दिया.

8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant and asked, “Why this waste?

8 यह देख शिष्य गुस्सा हो कहने लगे, “यह फिज़ूलखर्ची किस लिए?

9 This perfume could have been sold at a high price, and the money given to the poor.”

9 यह इत्र तो ऊंचे दाम पर बिक सकता था और प्राप्‍त धनराशि गरीबों में बांटी जा सकती थी.”

10 Aware of this, Jesus asked, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful deed to Me.

10 इस विषय को जानकर येशु ने उन्हें झिड़कते हुए कहा, “क्यों सता रहे हो इस स्त्री को? इसने मेरे हित में एक सराहनीय काम किया है.

11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have Me.

11 निर्धन तुम्हारे साथ हमेशा रहेंगे किंतु मैं तुम्हारे साथ हमेशा नहीं रहूंगा.

12 By pouring this perfume on Me, she has prepared My body for burial.

12 मुझे मेरे अंतिम संस्कार के लिए तैयार करने के लिए इसने यह इत्र मेरे शरीर पर उंडेला है.

13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached in all the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

13 सच तो यह है कि सारे जगत में जहां कहीं यह सुसमाचार प्रचार किया जाएगा, इस स्त्री के इस कार्य का वर्णन भी इसकी याद में किया जाएगा.”

14 Then one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests

14 तब कारियोतवासी यहूदाह, जो बारह शिष्यों में से एक था, प्रधान पुरोहितों के पास गया

15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?” And they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.

15 और उनसे विचार-विमर्श करने लगा, “यदि मैं येशु को पकड़वा दूं तो आप मुझे क्या देंगे?” उन्होंने उसे गिन कर चांदी के तीस सिक्‍के दे दिए.

16 So from then on Judas looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus.

16 उस समय से वह येशु को पकड़वाने के लिए सही अवसर की ताक में रहने लगा.

17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

17 अखमीरी रोटी के उत्सव के पहले दिन शिष्यों ने येशु के पास आकर पूछा, “हम आपके लिए फ़सह भोज की तैयारी कहां करें? आप क्या चाहते हैं?”

18 He answered, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him that the Teacher says, ‘My time is near. I will keep the Passover with My disciples at your house.’”

18 येशु ने उन्हें निर्देश दिया, “नगर में एक व्यक्ति विशेष के पास जाना और उससे कहना, ‘गुरुवर ने कहा है, मेरा समय पास है. मुझे अपने शिष्यों के साथ आपके घर में फ़सह उत्सव मनाना है.’”

19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

19 शिष्यों ने वैसा ही किया, जैसा येशु ने निर्देश दिया था और उन्होंने फ़सह भोज तैयार किया.

20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining with the twelve disciples.

20 संध्या समय येशु अपने बारह शिष्यों के साथ बैठे हुए थे.

21 And while they were eating, He said to them, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray Me.”

21 जब वे भोजन कर रहे थे येशु ने उनसे कहा, “मैं तुम पर एक सच प्रकट कर रहा हूं: तुम्हीं में एक है, जो मेरे साथ धोखा करेगा.”

22 They were deeply grieved and began to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?”

22 बहुत उदास मन से हर एक शिष्य येशु से पूछने लगा, “प्रभु, वह मैं तो नहीं हूं?”

23 Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with Me will betray Me.

23 येशु ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “जिसने मेरे साथ कटोरे में अपना कौर डुबोया था, वही है, जो मेरे साथ धोखा करेगा.

24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

24 मनुष्य के पुत्र को तो जैसा कि उसके विषय में पवित्र शास्त्र में लिखा है, जाना ही है; किंतु धिक्कार है उस व्यक्ति पर, जो मनुष्य के पुत्र के साथ धोखा करेगा. उस व्यक्ति के लिए अच्छा तो यही होता कि उसका जन्म ही न होता.”

25 Then Judas, who would betray Him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said it yourself.”

25 यहूदाह ने, जो येशु के साथ धोखा कर रहा था, उनसे प्रश्न किया, “रब्बी, वह मैं तो नहीं हूं न?” येशु ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “यह तुमने स्वयं ही कह दिया है.”

26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.”

26 जब वे भोजन के लिए बैठे, येशु ने रोटी ली, उसके लिए आशीष विनती की, उसे तोड़ी और शिष्यों को देते हुए कहा, “यह लो, खाओ; यह मेरा शरीर है.”

27 Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.

27 तब येशु ने प्याला लिया, उसके लिए धन्यवाद दिया तथा शिष्यों को देते हुए कहा, “तुम सब इसमें से पियो.

28 This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

28 यह वाचा का मेरा लहू है जो अनेकों की पाप क्षमा के लिए उंडेला जा रहा है.

29 I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

29 मैं यह बताना चाहता हूं कि मैं दाख का रस उस दिन तक नहीं पिऊंगा जब तक मैं अपने पिता के राज्य में तुम्हारे साथ दाखरस दोबारा नहीं पिऊं.”

30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

30 एक भक्ति गीत गाने के बाद वे ज़ैतून पर्वत पर चले गए.

31 Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

31 येशु ने शिष्यों से कहा, “आज रात तुम सभी मेरा साथ छोड़कर चले जाओगे, जैसा कि इस संबंध में पवित्र शास्त्र का लेख है: “ ‘मैं चरवाहे का संहार करूंगा और, झुंड की सभी भेड़ें तितर-बितर हो जाएंगी.’

32 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”

32 हां, पुनर्जीवित किए जाने के बाद मैं तुमसे पहले गलील प्रदेश पहुंच जाऊंगा.”

33 Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”

33 किंतु पेतरॉस ने येशु से कहा, “सभी शिष्य आपका साथ छोड़कर जाएं तो जाएं किंतु मैं आपका साथ कभी न छोड़ूंगा.”

34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus declared, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

34 येशु ने उनसे कहा, “सच्चाई तो यह है कि आज ही रात में, इसके पहले कि मुर्ग बांग दे, तुम मुझे तीन बार नकार चुके होंगे.”

35 Peter replied, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the other disciples said the same thing.

35 पेतरॉस ने दोबारा उनसे कहा, “मुझे आपके साथ यदि मृत्यु को भी गले लगाना पड़े तो भी मैं आपको नहीं नकारूंगा.” अन्य सभी शिष्यों ने यही दोहराया.

36 Then Jesus went with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and He told them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

36 तब येशु उनके साथ गेतसेमनी नामक स्थान पर पहुंचे. उन्होंने अपने शिष्यों से कहा, “तुम यहीं बैठो जब तक मैं वहां जाकर प्रार्थना करता हूं.”

37 He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

37 फिर वह पेतरॉस और ज़ेबेदियॉस के दोनों पुत्रों को अपने साथ ले आगे चले गए. वहां येशु अत्यंत उदास और व्याकुल होने लगे.

38 Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”

38 उन्होंने शिष्यों से कहा, “मेरे प्राण इतने अधिक उदास हैं, मानो मेरी मृत्यु हो रही हो. मेरे साथ तुम भी जागते रहो.”

39 Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

39 तब येशु उनसे थोड़ी ही दूर जा मुख के बल गिरकर प्रार्थना करने लगे. उन्होंने परमेश्वर से निवेदन किया, “मेरे पिता, यदि संभव हो तो यह प्याला मुझसे टल जाए; फिर भी मेरी नहीं परंतु आपकी इच्छा के अनुरूप हो.”

40 Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter.

40 जब वह अपने शिष्यों के पास लौटे तो उन्हें सोया हुआ देख उन्होंने पेतरॉस से कहा, “अच्छा, तुम मेरे साथ एक घंटा भी सजग न रह सके!

41 “Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

41 सजग रहो, प्रार्थना करते रहो, ऐसा न हो कि तुम परीक्षा में पड़ जाओ. हां, निःसंदेह आत्मा तो तैयार है किंतु शरीर दुर्बल.”

42 A second time He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”

42 तब येशु ने दूसरी बार जाकर प्रार्थना की, “मेरे पिता, यदि यह प्याला मेरे पिए बिना मुझसे टल नहीं सकता तो आप ही की इच्छा पूरी हो.”

43 And again Jesus returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

43 वह दोबारा लौटकर आए तो देखा कि शिष्य सोए हुए हैं—क्योंकि उनकी पलकें बोझिल थी.

44 So He left them and went away once more and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.

44 एक बार फिर वह उन्हें छोड़ आगे चले गए और तीसरी बार प्रार्थना की और उन्होंने प्रार्थना में वही सब दोहराया.

45 Then He returned to the disciples and said, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

45 तब वह शिष्यों के पास लौटे और उनसे कहा, “क्या तुम अभी भी सो रहे और आराम कर रहे हो? बहुत हो गया! देखो! आ गया है वह क्षण! मनुष्य का पुत्र पापियों के हाथों पकड़वाया जा रहा है.

46 Rise, let us go! See, My betrayer is approaching!”

46 उठो! यहां से चलें. देखो, जो मुझे पकड़वाने पर है, वह आ गया!”

47 While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.

47 येशु अपना कथन समाप्‍त भी न कर पाए थे कि यहूदाह, जो बारह शिष्यों में से एक था, वहां आ पहुंचा. उसके साथ एक बड़ी भीड़ थी, जो तलवारें और लाठियां लिए हुए थी. ये सब प्रधान पुरोहितों और पुरनियों की ओर से भेजे गए थे.

48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The One I kiss is the man; arrest Him.”

48 येशु के विश्वासघाती ने उन्हें यह संकेत दिया था: “मैं जिसे चूमूं, वही होगा वह. उसे ही पकड़ लेना.”

49 Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

49 वहां पहुंचते ही यहूदाह सीधे मसीह येशु के पास गया और उनसे कहा, “प्रणाम, रब्बी!” और उन्हें चूम लिया.

50 “Friend,” Jesus replied, “do what you came for.” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested Him.

50 येशु ने यहूदाह से कहा, “मेरे मित्र, जिस काम के लिए आए हो, उसे पूरा कर लो.” उन्होंने आकर येशु को पकड़ लिया.

51 At this, one of Jesus’ companions drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

51 येशु के शिष्यों में से एक ने तलवार खींची और महापुरोहित के दास पर चला दी जिससे उसका कान कट गया.

52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

52 येशु ने उस शिष्य से कहा, “अपनी तलवार को म्यान में रखो! जो तलवार उठाते हैं, वे तलवार से ही नाश किए जाएंगे.

53 Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

53 क्या तुम यह तो सोच रहे कि मैं अपने पिता से विनती नहीं कर सकता और वह मेरे लिए स्वर्गदूतों के बारह या उससे अधिक लेगिओन (बड़ी सेना) नहीं भेज सकते?

54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”

54 फिर भला पवित्र शास्त्र के लेख कैसे पूरे होंगे, जिनमें लिखा है कि यह सब इसी प्रकार होना अवश्य है?”

55 At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw? Every day I sat teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me.

55 तब येशु ने भीड़ को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, “क्या तुम्हें मुझे पकड़ने के लिए तलवारें और लाठियां लेकर आने की ज़रूरत थी, जैसे किसी डाकू को पकड़ने के लिए होती है? मैं तो प्रतिदिन मंदिर में बैठकर शिक्षा दिया करता था! तब तुमने मुझे नहीं पकड़ा!

56 But this has all happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled.

56 यह सब इसलिये हुआ है कि भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के लेख पूरे हों.” इस समय सभी शिष्य उन्हें छोड़कर भाग चुके थे.

57 Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders had gathered.

57 जिन्होंने येशु को पकड़ा था वे उन्हें महापुरोहित कायाफ़स के यहां ले गए, जहां शास्त्री तथा पुरनिये इकट्ठा थे.

58 But Peter followed Him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. And he went in and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.

58 पेतरॉस कुछ दूरी पर येशु के पीछे-पीछे चलते हुए महापुरोहित के आंगन में आ पहुंचे और वहां वह प्रहरियों के साथ बैठ गए कि देखें आगे क्या-क्या होता है.

59 Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death.

59 मसीह येशु को मृत्यु दंड देने की इच्छा लिए हुए प्रधान पुरोहित तथा पूरी महासभा मसीह येशु के विरुद्ध झूठे गवाह खोजने का यत्न कर रही थी,

60 But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward

60 किंतु इसमें वे विफल ही रहे. यद्यपि अनेक झूठे गवाह सामने आए, किंतु मृत्यु दंड के लिए आवश्यक दो सहमत गवाह उन्हें फिर भी न मिले. आखिर दो गवाह सामने आए

61 and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

61 जिन्होंने कहा, “यह व्यक्ति कहता था, ‘मैं परमेश्वर के मंदिर को नाश करके उसे तीन दिन में दोबारा खड़ा करने में समर्थ हूं.’”

62 So the high priest stood up and asked Him, “Have You no answer? What are these men testifying against You?”

62 तब महापुरोहित खड़े हुए तथा मसीह येशु से पूछा, “क्या तुम्हें अपने बचाव में कुछ नहीं कहना है? ये सब तुम्हारे विरुद्ध क्या-क्या गवाही दे रहे हैं!”

63 But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to Him, “I charge You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God.”

63 येशु मौन ही रहे. तब महापुरोहित ने येशु से कहा, “मैं तुम्हें जीवित परमेश्वर की शपथ देता हूं कि तुम हमें बताओ, क्या तुम ही मसीह, परमेश्वर के पुत्र हो?”

64 “You have said it yourself,” Jesus answered. “But I say to all of you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

64 येशु ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “आपने यह स्वयं कह दिया है, फिर भी, मैं आपको यह बताना चाहता हूं कि इसके बाद आप मनुष्य के पुत्र को सर्वशक्तिमान की दायीं ओर बैठे तथा आकाश के बादलों पर आता हुआ देखेंगे.”

65 At this, the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “He has blasphemed! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.

65 यह सुनना था कि महापुरोहित ने अपने वस्त्र फाड़ डाले और कहा, “परमेश्वर-निंदा की है इसने! क्या अब भी गवाहों की ज़रूरत है? आप सभी ने स्वयं यह परमेश्वर-निंदा सुनी है.

66 What do you think?” “He deserves to die,” they answered.

66 अब क्या विचार है आपका?” सभी परिषद ने उत्तर दिया, “यह मृत्यु दंड के योग्य है.”

67 Then they spit in His face and struck Him. Others slapped Him

67 तब उन्होंने येशु के मुख पर थूका, उन पर घूंसों से प्रहार किया, कुछ ने उन्हें थप्पड़ भी मारे और फिर उनसे प्रश्न किया,

68 and said, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who hit You?”

68 “मसीह! भविष्यवाणी कीजिए, कि आपको किसने मारा है?”

69 Meanwhile, Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came up to him. “You also were with Jesus the Galilean,” she said.

69 पेतरॉस आंगन में बैठे हुए थे. एक दासी वहां से निकली और पेतरॉस से पूछने लगी, “तुम भी तो उस गलीलवासी येशु के साथ थे न?”

70 But he denied it before them all: “I do not know what you are talking about.”

70 किंतु पेतरॉस ने सबके सामने यह कहते हुए इस सच को नकार दिया: “क्या कह रही हो? मैं समझा नहीं!”

71 When Peter had gone out to the gateway, another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

71 जब पेतरॉस द्वार से बाहर निकले, एक दूसरी दासी ने पेतरॉस को देख वहां उपस्थित लोगों से कहा, “यह व्यक्ति नाज़रेथ के येशु के साथ था.”

72 And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man!”

72 एक बार फिर पेतरॉस ने शपथ खाकर नकारते हुए कहा, “मैं उस व्यक्ति को नहीं जानता.”

73 After a little while, those standing nearby came up to Peter. “Surely you are one of them,” they said, “for your accent gives you away.”

73 कुछ समय बाद एक व्यक्ति ने पेतरॉस के पास आकर कहा, “इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि तुम भी उनमें से एक हो. तुम्हारी भाषा-शैली से यह स्पष्ट हो रहा है.”

74 At that he began to curse and swear to them, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.

74 पेतरॉस अपशब्द कहते हुए शपथ खाकर कहने लगे, “मैं उस व्यक्ति को नहीं जानता!” उनका यह कहना था कि मुर्ग ने बांग दी.

75 Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

75 पेतरॉस को येशु की वह कही हुई बात याद आई, “इसके पूर्व कि मुर्ग बांग दे तुम मुझे तीन बार नकार चुके होगे.” पेतरॉस बाहर गए और फूट-फूटकर रोने लगे.
