Numbers 1

1 On the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai. He said:

1 Und der HERR redete mit Mose in der Wüste Sinai in der Hütte des Stifts am ersten Tage des zweiten Monats im zweiten Jahr, da sie aus Ägyptenland gegangen waren, und sprach:

2 “Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.

2 Nehmet die Summe der ganzen Gemeinde der Kinder Israel nach ihren Geschlechtern und Vaterhäusern und Namen, alles, was männlich ist, von Haupt zu Haupt,

3 You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—everyone who can serve in Israel’s army.

3 von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugt in Israel; ihr sollt sie zählen nach ihren Heeren, du und Aaron.

4 And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.

4 Und sollt zu euch nehmen je vom Stamm einen Hauptmann über sein Vaterhaus.

5 These are the names of the men who are to assist you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;

5 Dies sind die Namen der Hauptleute, die neben euch stehen sollen: von Ruben sei Elizur, der Sohn Sedeurs;

6 from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;

6 von Simeon sei Selumiel, der Sohn Zuri-Saddais;

7 from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;

7 von Juda sei Nahesson, der Sohn Amminadabs;

8 from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;

8 von Isaschar sei Nathanael, der Sohn Zuars;

9 from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;

9 von Sebulon sei Eliab, der Sohn Helons;

10 from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;

11 from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;

12 from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;

13 from Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;

14 from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;

14 von Gad sei Eljasaph, der Sohn Deguels;

15 and from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”

16 These men were appointed from the congregation; they were the leaders of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the clans of Israel.

16 Das sind die Vornehmsten der Gemeinde, die Fürsten unter den Stämmen ihrer Väter, die da Häupter über die Tausende in Israel waren.

17 So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,

17 Und Mose und Aaron nahmen sie zu sich, wie sie da mit Namen genannt sind,

18 and on the first day of the second month they assembled the whole congregation and recorded their ancestry by clans and families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years of age or older,

18 und sammelten auch die ganze Gemeinde am ersten Tage des zweiten Monats und rechneten nach ihrer Geburt, nach ihren Geschlechtern und Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, von Haupt zu Haupt,

19 just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So Moses numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:

19 wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, und zählten sie in der Wüste Sinai.

20 From the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

20 Der Kinder Ruben, des ersten Sohnes Israels, nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von Haupt zu Haupt, alles, was männlich war, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

21 those registered to the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.

21 wurden gezählt vom Stamme Ruben sechsundvierzigtausend und fünfhundert.

22 From the sons of Simeon, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

22 Der Kinder Simeon nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern, Zahl und Namen, von Haupt zu Haupt, alles, was männlich war, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

23 those registered to the tribe of Simeon numbered 59,300.

23 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Simeon neunundfünfzigtausend und dreihundert.

24 From the sons of Gad, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

24 Der Kinder Gad nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

25 those registered to the tribe of Gad numbered 45,650.

25 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Gad fünfundvierzigtausend sechshundertundfünfzig.

26 From the sons of Judah, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

26 Der Kinder Juda nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

27 those registered to the tribe of Judah numbered 74,600.

27 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Juda vierundsiebzigtausend und sechshundert.

28 From the sons of Issachar, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

28 Der Kinder Isaschar nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

29 those registered to the tribe of Issachar numbered 54,400.

29 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Isaschar vierundfünfzigtausend und vierhundert.

30 From the sons of Zebulun, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

30 Der Kinder Sebulon nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

31 those registered to the tribe of Zebulun numbered 57,400.

31 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Sebulon siebenundfünfzigtausend und vierhundert.

32 From the sons of Joseph: From the sons of Ephraim, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

32 Der Kinder Joseph von Ephraim nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

33 those registered to the tribe of Ephraim numbered 40,500.

33 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Ephraim vierzigtausend und fünfhundert.

34 And from the sons of Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

34 Der Kinder Manasse nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

35 those registered to the tribe of Manasseh numbered 32,200.

35 wurden zum Stamm Manasse gezählt zweiunddreißigtausend und zweihundert.

36 From the sons of Benjamin, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

36 Der Kinder Benjamin nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

37 those registered to the tribe of Benjamin numbered 35,400.

37 wurden zum Stamm Benjamin gezählt fünfunddreißigtausend und vierhundert.

38 From the sons of Dan, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

38 Der Kinder Dan nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

39 those registered to the tribe of Dan numbered 62,700.

39 wurden gezählt zum Stamme Dan zweiundsechzigtausend und siebenhundert.

40 From the sons of Asher, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

40 Der Kinder Asser nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

41 those registered to the tribe of Asher numbered 41,500.

41 wurden gezählt zum Stamm Asser einundvierzigtausend und fünfhundert.

42 From the sons of Naphtali, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

42 Der Kinder Naphthali nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

43 those registered to the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53,400.

43 wurden zum Stamm Naphthali gezählt dreiundfünfzigtausend und vierhundert.

44 These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.

44 Dies sind, die Mose und Aaron zählten samt den zwölf Fürsten Israels, deren je einer über ein Vaterhaus war.

45 So all the Israelites twenty years of age or older who could serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.

45 Und die Summe der Kinder Israel nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte in Israel,

46 And all those counted totaled 603,550.

46 war sechsmal hunderttausend und dreitausend fünfhundertundfünfzig.

47 The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers.

47 Aber die Leviten nach ihrer Väter Stamm wurden nicht mit darunter gezählt.

48 For the LORD had said to Moses:

48 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:

49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.

49 Den Stamm Levi sollst du nicht zählen noch ihre Summe nehmen unter den Kindern Israel,

50 Instead, you are to appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.

50 sondern du sollst sie ordnen zur Wohnung des Zeugnisses und zu allem Geräte und allem, was dazu gehört. Und sie sollen die Wohnung tragen und alles Gerät und sollen sein pflegen und um die Wohnung her sich lagern.

51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.

51 Und wenn man reisen soll, so sollen die Leviten die Wohnung abnehmen. Wenn aber das Heer zu lagern ist, sollen sie die Wohnung aufschlagen. Und wo ein Fremder sich dazumacht, der soll sterben.

52 The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.

52 Die Kinder Israel sollen sich lagern, ein jeglicher in sein Lager und zu dem Panier seiner Schar.

53 But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”

53 Aber die Leviten sollen sich um die Wohnung des Zeugnisses her lagern, auf daß nicht ein Zorn über die Gemeinde der Kinder Israel komme; darum sollen die Leviten des Dienstes warten an der Wohnung des Zeugnisses.

54 Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

54 Und die Kinder Israel taten alles, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.
