Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,

1 يَا ابْنِي إِنْ قَبِلْتَ كَلامِي، وَادَّخَرْتَ وَصَايَايَ فِي قَلْبِكَ،

2 if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,

2 وَأَرْهَفْتَ أُذُنَكَ إِلَى الْحِكْمَةِ، وَأَمَلْتَ قَلْبَكَ نَحْوَ الْفَهْمِ،

3 if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,

3 وَإِنْ نَشَدْتَ الْفِطْنَةَ، وَهَتَفْتَ دَاعِياً الْفَهْمَ.

4 if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,

4 إِنِ الْتَمَسْتَهُ كَمَا تُلْتَمَسُ الْفِضَّةُ، وَبَحَثْتَ عَنْهُ كَمَا يُبْحَثُ عَنِ الْكُنُوزِ الدَّفِينَةِ،

5 then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.

5 عِنْدَئِذٍ تُدْرِكُ مَخَافَةَ الرَّبِّ وَتَعْثُرُ عَلَى مَعْرِفَةِ اللهِ،

6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

6 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ يَهَبُ الْحِكْمَةَ، وَمِنْ فَمِهِ تَتَدَفَّقُ الْمَعْرِفَةُ وَالْفَهْمُ.

7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,

7 يَذْخَرُ لِلْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ فِطْنَةً، وَهُوَ تُرْسٌ لِلسَّالِكِينَ بِالْكَمَالِ.

8 to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.

8 يَرْعَى سُبُلَ الْعَدْلِ، وَيُحَافِظُ عَلَى طَرِيقِ أَتْقِيَائِهِ.

9 Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.

9 حِينَئِذٍ تُدْرِكُ الْعَدْلَ وَالْحَقَّ وَالاسْتِقَامَةَ، وَكُلَّ سَبِيلٍ صَالِحٍ.

10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.

10 إِنِ اسْتَقَرَّتِ الْحِكْمَةُ فِي قَلْبِكَ وَاسْتَلَذَّتْ نَفْسُكَ الْمَعْرِفَةَ،

11 Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,

11 يَرْعَاكَ التَّعَقُّلُ، وَيَحْرُسُكَ الْفَهْمُ.

12 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,

12 إِنْقَاذاً لَكَ مِنْ طَرِيقِ الشَّرِّ وَمِنَ النَّاطِقِينَ بِالأَكَاذِيبِ.

13 from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,

13 مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَبْتَعِدُونَ عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَسْلُكُونَ فِي طُرُقِ الظُّلْمَةِ،

14 from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,

14 الَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِارْتِكَابِ الْمَسَاوِئِ، وَيَبْتَهِجُونَ بِنِفَاقِ الشَّرِّ،

15 whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.

15 مِنْ ذَوِي الْمَسَالِكِ الْمُلْتَوِيَةِ وَالسُّبُلِ الْمُعْوَجَّةِ.

16 It will rescue you from the forbidden woman, from the stranger with seductive words

16 وَإِنْقَاذاً لَكَ مِنَ الْمَرْأَةِ الْغَرِيبَةِ الْمُخَاتِلَةِ الَّتِي تَتَمَلَّقُكَ بِكَلامِهَا،

17 who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.

17 الَّتِي نَبَذَتْ شَرِيكَ صِبَاهَا وَتَنَاسَتْ عَهْدَ إِلَهِهَا.

18 For her house sinks down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits.

18 لأَنَّ بَيْتَهَا يَغُوصُ عَمِيقاً إِلَى الْمَوْتِ، وَسُبُلَهَا تُفْضِي إِلَى عَالَمِ الأَرْوَاحِ.

19 None who go to her return or negotiate the paths of life.

19 كُلُّ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ إِلَيْهَا لَا يَرْجِعُ وَلا يَبْلُغُ سُبُلَ الْحَيَاةِ.

20 So you will follow in the ways of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous.

20 لِهَذَا سِرْ فِي طَرِيقِ الأَخْيَارِ، وَاحْفَظْ سَبِيلَ الأَبْرَارِ،

21 For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it;

21 لأَنَّ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ يَسْكُنُونَ الأَرْضَ، وَالْكَامِلِينَ يَمْكُثُونَ دَائِماً فِيهَا.

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.

22 أَمَّا الأَشْرَارُ فَيَنْقَرِضُونَ مِنَ الأَرْضِ، وَالْغَادِرُونَ يُسْتَأْصَلُونَ مِنْهَا.
