Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,

1 मेरे पुत्र, यदि तुम मेरे वचन स्वीकार करो और मेरी आज्ञाओं को अपने हृदय में संचित कर रखो,

2 if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,

2 यदि अपने कानों को ज्ञान के प्रति चैतन्य तथा अपने हृदय को समझदारी की ओर लगाए रखो;

3 if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,

3 वस्तुतः यदि तुम समझ को आह्वान करो और समझ को उच्च स्वर में पुकारो,

4 if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,

4 यदि तुम इसकी खोज उसी रीति से करो जैसी चांदी के लिए की जाती है और इसे एक गुप्‍त निधि मानते हुए खोजते रहो,

5 then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.

5 तब तुम्हें ज्ञात हो जाएगा कि याहवेह के प्रति श्रद्धा क्या होती है, तब तुम्हें परमेश्वर का ज्ञान प्राप्‍त हो जाएगा.

6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

6 क्योंकि ज्ञान को देनेवाला याहवेह ही हैं; उन्हीं के मुख से ज्ञान और समझ की बातें बोली जाती हैं.

7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,

7 खरे के लिए वह यथार्थ ज्ञान आरक्षित रखते हैं, उनके लिए वह ढाल प्रमाणित होते हैं, जिनका चालचलन निर्दोष है,

8 to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.

8 वह बिना पक्षपात न्याय प्रणाली की सुरक्षा बनाए रखते हैं तथा उनकी दृष्टि उनके संतों के चालचलन पर लगी रहती है.

9 Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.

9 मेरे पुत्र, तब तुम्हें धर्मी, बिना पक्षपात न्याय, हर एक सन्मार्ग और औचित्य की पहचान हो जाएगी.

10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.

10 क्योंकि तब ज्ञान तुम्हारे हृदय में आ बसेगा, ज्ञान तुम्हारी आत्मा में आनंद का संचार करेगा.

11 Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,

11 निर्णय-ज्ञान तुम्हारी चौकसी करेगा, समझदारी में तुम्हारी सुरक्षा होगी.

12 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,

12 ये तुम्हें बुराई के मार्ग से और ऐसे व्यक्तियों से बचा लेंगे, जिनकी बातें कुटिल है,

13 from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,

13 जो अंधकारपूर्ण जीवनशैली को अपनाने के लिए खराई के चालचलन को छोड़ देते हैं,

14 from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,

14 जिन्हें कुकृत्यों तथा बुराई की भ्रष्टता में आनंद आता है,

15 whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.

15 जिनके व्यवहार ही कुटिल हैं जो बिगड़े मार्ग पर चालचलन करते हैं.

16 It will rescue you from the forbidden woman, from the stranger with seductive words

16 तब ज्ञान तुम्हें अनाचरणीय स्त्री से, उस अन्य पुरुषगामिनी से, जिसकी बातें मीठी हैं, सुरक्षित रखेगी,

17 who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.

17 जिसने युवावस्था के साथी का परित्याग कर दिया है जो परमेश्वर के समक्ष की गई वाचा को भूल जाती है.

18 For her house sinks down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits.

18 उसका घर-परिवार मृत्यु के गर्त में समाता जा रहा है, उसके पांव अधोलोक की राह पर हैं.

19 None who go to her return or negotiate the paths of life.

19 जो कोई उसके पास गया, वह लौटकर कभी न आ सकता, और न उनमें से कोई पुनः जीवन मार्ग पा सकता है.

20 So you will follow in the ways of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous.

20 मेरे पुत्र, ज्ञान तुम्हें भलाई के मार्ग पर ले जाएगा और तुम्हें धर्मियों के मार्ग पर स्थिर रखेगा.

21 For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it;

21 धर्मियों को ही देश प्राप्‍त होगा, और वे, जो धर्मी हैं, इसमें बने रहेंगे;

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.

22 किंतु दुर्जनों को देश से निकाला जाएगा तथा धोखेबाज को समूल नष्ट कर दिया जाएगा.
