Psalms 54

1 For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!

1 Per il Capo de’ musici. Per strumenti a corda. Cantico di Davide quando gli Zifei vennero a dire a Saul: Davide non si tiene egli nascosto fra noi? O Dio, salvami per il tuo nome, e fammi giustizia per la tua potenza.

2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

2 O Dio, ascolta la mia preghiera, porgi orecchio alle parole della mia bocca!

3 For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah

3 Poiché degli stranieri si son levati contro a me e de’ violenti cercano l’anima mia. Essi non tengono Iddio presente innanzi a loro. Sela.

4 Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.

4 Ecco, Iddio e colui che m’aiuta; il Signore è fra quelli che sostengon l’anima mia.

5 He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.

5 Egli farà ricadere il male sopra i miei nemici. Nella tua fedeltà, distruggili!

6 Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.

6 Con animo volonteroso io t’offrirò sacrifizi; celebrerò il tuo nome, o Eterno, perch’esso è buono;

7 For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

7 perché m’ha liberato da ogni distretta, e l’occhio mio ha visto sui miei nemici quel che desideravo.
