Psalms 59

1 For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David, when Saul sent men to watch David’s house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise against me.

1 Deus meu, salve-me dos meus inimigos! Não deixe que eles me alcancem.

2 Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of bloodshed.

2 Salve-me daqueles que vivem fazendo o mal; salve-me dos homens violentos e assassinos.

3 See how they lie in wait for me. Fierce men conspire against me for no transgression or sin of my own, O LORD.

3 Eles fazem planos cuidadosos para me matar à traição. Nada fiz de errado contra eles, mas os poderosos se ajuntam para me destruir, ó Senhor!

4 For no fault of my own, they move swiftly to attack me. Arise to help me, and take notice.

4 Sou inocente, mas assim mesmo eles vêm me atacar. Senhor, levante-se, veja o que está acontecendo e venha me ajudar.

5 O LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, rouse Yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah

5 Ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, ó Deus de Israel! Desperte e venha enfrentar todas as nações inimigas! Não tenha pena de ninguém que faz da maldade o seu modo de vida!

6 They return in the evening, snarling like dogs and prowling around the city.

6 Quando anoitece, eles vêm rondar a cidade e tentar descobrir onde estou, rosnando como cachorros bravos.

7 See what they spew from their mouths—sharp words from their lips: “For who can hear us?”

7 Gritam ofensas e ameaças terríveis, e dizem: “Quem nos ouvirá?”

8 But You, O LORD, laugh at them; You scoff at all the nations.

8 Mas o Senhor vai rir dessa gente. Também vai zombar das nações inimigas de Israel.

9 I will keep watch for You, O my strength, because You, O God, are my fortress.

9 Ó Deus, minha força, o Senhor é a minha esperança! O Senhor me protege, e fico em perfeita segurança.

10 My God of loving devotion will come to meet me; God will let me stare down my foes.

10 O meu Deus fiel virá ao meu encontro e permitirá que eu triunfe sobre os meus inimigos.

11 Do not kill them, or my people will forget. Scatter them by Your power, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.

11 Não acabe com eles de uma vez para que o povo não esqueça depressa a lição. Com o seu poder, espalhe meus inimigos pela terra, e abata-os, ó Senhor, nosso escudo!

12 By the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be trapped in their pride, in the curses and lies they utter.

12 Que eles sejam as vítimas de suas próprias palavras e do seu orgulho! Pelas maldições e mentiras que pronunciaram,

13 Consume them in wrath; consume them till they are no more, so it may be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob. Selah

13 castigue-os com toda a sua ira. Acabe com eles até que não mais existam! Assim todos saberão que Deus governará Israel e reinará até os confins da terra!

14 They return in the evening, snarling like dogs and prowling around the city.

14 Quando anoitece, os meus inimigos vêm rondar a cidade, rosnando como cachorros bravos.

15 They scavenge for food, and growl if they are not satisfied.

15 Andam de lá para cá, procurando comida. Nunca acham o suficiente, e por isso ficam uivando.

16 But I will sing of Your strength and proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning. For You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

16 Quanto a mim, cantarei louvores à sua força, Senhor; de manhã louvarei bem alto o seu amor, pois o Senhor tem sido meu refúgio, onde eu fico em segurança no dia do sofrimento.

17 To You, O my strength, I sing praises, for You, O God, are my fortress, my God of loving devotion.

17 Ó Deus, força minha, sempre louvarei o Senhor, porque tem sido o meu refúgio, o Deus que sempre mostra seu grande amor por mim.
