Psalms 58

1 For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David. Do you indeed speak justly, O rulers? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?

1 Onde está a verdadeira justiça, senhores juízes? Autoridades, vocês estão sendo honestos quando julgam os homens?

2 No, in your hearts you devise injustice; with your hands you mete out violence on the earth.

2 Não! De maneira alguma! Em vez disso, vocês tramam a injustiça e enchem a terra de violência.

3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; the liars go astray from birth.

3 Os perversos desde o nascimento se afastam de Deus! Desde o berço vocês vêm seguindo o caminho errado, o caminho da mentira.

4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like a cobra that shuts its ears,

4 Eles são venenosos como serpentes! Tapam os ouvidos, como a cobra que se faz de surda

5 refusing to hear the tune of the charmer who skillfully weaves his spell.

5 para não ouvir a música dos encantadores mais experientes.

6 O God, shatter their teeth in their mouths; O LORD, tear out the fangs of the lions.

6 Ó Deus, quebre os dentes deles, porque são ferozes como leões fortes.

7 May they vanish like water that runs off; when they draw the bow, may their arrows be blunted.

7 Que eles desapareçam como água que cai na areia do deserto. Quando empunharem o arco, que as suas flechas murchem como a erva que é pisada.

8 Like a slug that dissolves in its slime, like a woman’s stillborn child, may they never see the sun.

8 Que eles sejam como a lesma que se desmancha no lodo; como quem nasce morto e nunca vê o sol!

9 Before your pots can feel the burning thorns—whether green or dry—He will sweep them away.

9 Deus na sua ira os levará vivos numa tempestade. Sumirão mais depressa do que o tempo que o fogo leva para esquentar uma panela.

10 The righteous will rejoice when they see they are avenged; they will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.

10 Os justos ficarão felizes quando o castigo de Deus cair sobre os maus. Eles andarão em segurança quando lavarem os pés no sangue dos ímpios.

11 Then men will say, “There is surely a reward for the righteous! There is surely a God who judges the earth!”

11 Então se comentará: “De fato ser justo e obedecer a Deus traz uma grande recompensa, porque há um Deus que julga a terra”.
