Job 6

1 Then Job replied:

1 यह सुन अय्योब ने यह कहा:

2 “If only my grief could be weighed and placed with my calamity on the scales.

2 “कैसा होता यदि मेरी पीड़ा मापी जा सकती, इसे तराजू में रखा जाता!

3 For then it would outweigh the sand of the seas—no wonder my words have been rash.

3 तब तो इसका माप सागर तट की बालू से अधिक होता. इसलिये मेरे शब्द मूर्खता भरे लगते हैं.

4 For the arrows of the Almighty have pierced me; my spirit drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.

4 क्योंकि सर्वशक्तिमान के बाण मुझे बेधे हुए हैं, उनका विष रिसकर मेरी आत्मा में पहुंच रहा है. परमेश्वर का आतंक आक्रमण के लिए मेरे विरुद्ध खड़ा है!

5 Does a wild donkey bray over fresh grass, or an ox low over its fodder?

5 क्या जंगली गधा घास के सामने आकर रेंकता है? क्या बछड़ा अपना चारा देख रम्भाता है?

6 Is tasteless food eaten without salt, or is there flavor in the white of an egg?

6 क्या किसी स्वादरहित वस्तु का सेवन नमक के बिना संभव है? क्या अंडे की सफेदी में कोई भी स्वाद होता है?

7 My soul refuses to touch them; they are loathsome food to me.

7 मैं उनका स्पर्श ही नहीं चाहता; मेरे लिए ये घृणित भोजन-समान हैं.

8 If only my request were granted and God would fulfill my hope:

8 “कैसा होता यदि मेरा अनुरोध पूर्ण हो जाता तथा परमेश्वर मेरी लालसा को पूर्ण कर देते,

9 that God would be willing to crush me, to unleash His hand and cut me off!

9 तब ऐसा हो जाता कि परमेश्वर मुझे कुचलने के लिए तत्पर हो जाते, कि वह हाथ बढ़ाकर मेरा नाश कर देते!

10 It still brings me comfort, and joy through unrelenting pain, that I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

10 किंतु तब भी मुझे तो संतोष है, मैं असह्य दर्द में भी आनंदित होता हूं, क्योंकि मैंने पवित्र वचनों के आदेशों का विरोध नहीं किया है.

11 What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What is my future, that I should be patient?

11 “क्या है मेरी शक्ति, जो मैं आशा करूं? क्या है मेरी नियति, जो मैं धैर्य रखूं?

12 Is my strength like that of stone, or my flesh made of bronze?

12 क्या मेरा बल वह है, जो चट्टानों का होता है? अथवा क्या मेरी देह की रचना कांस्य से हुई है?

13 Is there any help within me now that success is driven from me?

13 क्या मेरी सहायता का मूल मेरे अंतर में निहित नहीं, क्या मेरी विमुक्ति मुझसे दूर हो चुकी?

14 A despairing man should have the kindness of his friend, even if he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

14 “जो अपने दुःखी मित्र पर करुणा नहीं दिखाता, वह सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर के प्रति श्रद्धा छोड़ देता है.

15 But my brothers are as faithless as wadis, as seasonal streams that overflow,

15 मेरे भाई तो जलधाराओं समान विश्वासघाती ही प्रमाणित हुए, वे जलधाराएं, जो विलीन हो जाती हैं,

16 darkened because of the ice and the inflow of melting snow,

16 जिनमें हिम पिघल कर जल बनता है और उनका जल छिप जाता है.

17 but ceasing in the dry season and vanishing from their channels in the heat.

17 वे जलहीन शांत एवं सूनी हो जाती हैं, वे ग्रीष्मऋतु में अपने स्थान से विलीन हो जाती हैं.

18 Caravans turn aside from their routes; they go into the wasteland and perish.

18 वे अपने रास्ते से भटक जाते हैं; उसके बाद वे मरुभूमि में विलीन हो जाती हैं.

19 The caravans of Tema look for water; the travelers of Sheba hope to find it.

19 तेमा के यात्री दल उन्हें खोजते रहे, शीबा के यात्रियों ने उन पर आशा रखी थी.

20 They are confounded because they had hoped; their arrival brings disappointment.

20 उन पर भरोसा कर उन्हें पछतावा हुआ; वे वहां पहुंचे और निराश हो गए.

21 For now you are of no help; you see terror, and you are afraid.

21 अब स्थिति यह है, कि तुम इन्हीं जलधाराओं के समान हो चुके हो; तुम आतंक को देखकर डर जाते हो.

22 Have I ever said, ‘Give me something; offer me a bribe from your wealth;

22 क्या मैंने कभी यह आग्रह किया है, ‘कुछ तो दे दो मुझे, अथवा, अपनी संपत्ति में से कुछ देकर मुझे मुक्त करा लो,

23 deliver me from the hand of the enemy; redeem me from the grasp of the ruthless’?

23 अथवा, शत्रु के बंधन से मुझे मुक्त करा लो, इस उपद्रव करनेवाले व्यक्ति के अधिकार से मुझे छुड़ा लो?’

24 Teach me, and I will be silent. Help me understand how I have erred.

24 “मुझे शिक्षा दीजिए, मैं चुप रहूंगा; मेरी त्रुटियां मुझ पर प्रकट कर दीजिए.

25 How painful are honest words! But what does your argument prove?

25 सच्चाई में कहे गए उद्गार कितने सुखदायक होते हैं! किंतु आपके विवाद से क्या प्रकट होता है?

26 Do you intend to correct my words, and treat as wind my cry of despair?

26 क्या तुम्हारा अभिप्राय मेरे कहने की निंदा करना है, निराश व्यक्ति के उद्गार तो निरर्थक ही होते हैं?

27 You would even cast lots for an orphan and barter away your friend.

27 तुम तो पितृहीनों के लिए चिट्ठी डालोगे तथा अपने मित्र को ही बेच दोगे.

28 But now, please look at me. Would I lie to your face?

28 “अब कृपा करो और मेरी ओर देखो. फिर देखना कि क्या मैं तुम्हारे मुख पर झूठ बोल सकूंगा?

29 Reconsider; do not be unjust. Reconsider, for my righteousness is at stake.

29 अब कोई अन्याय न होने पाए; छोड़ दो यह सब, मैं अब भी सत्यनिष्ठ हूं.

30 Is there iniquity on my tongue? Can my mouth not discern malice?

30 क्या मेरी जीभ अन्यायपूर्ण है? क्या मुझमें बुराई और अच्छाई का बोध न रहा?
