Psalms 40

1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry.

1 Con paciencia esperé que Dios me ayudara; entonces él oyó y escuchó mi clamor.

2 He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.

2 Me sacó del abismo de la desesperación, del pantano y del lodo; puso mis pies sobre senda dura y firme, y me fortaleció mientras yo proseguía mi camino.

3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

3 Me ha dado un nuevo cántico para que lo entone, con alabanzas a nuestro Dios. Ahora muchos oirán de las cosas admirables que él hizo; maravillados estarán ante el Señor, y en él pondrán su confianza.

4 Blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, who has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.

4 Muchas bendiciones se derraman sobre los que confían en el Señor, y no se fían de los altivos ni de los que confían en ídolos.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare to You—if I proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count.

5 ¡Señor, Dios mío! ¡Cuántas y cuántas veces has realizado grandes milagros en favor nuestro! ¿Quién más puede hacer tales maravillas? El tiempo no alcanza para narrar todos tus maravillosos actos.

6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but my ears You have opened. Burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not require.

6 A ti no te complacen sacrificios ni ofrendas, pero me has hecho obediente; tú no has pedido holocaustos ni sacrificios por el pecado.

7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll:

7 Por eso dije: «Aquí me tienes —como el libro dice de mí—.

8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.”

8 Me deleito en hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío, tu ley la llevo dentro de mí».

9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; behold, I do not seal my lips, as You, O LORD, do know.

9 A todos les he hablado de tu justicia. Sin timidez lo he proclamado, según te consta, Señor.

10 I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly.

10 No he ocultado esta buena noticia en mi corazón, sino que he proclamado tu fidelidad y tu salvación. Les he hablado a todos en la asamblea de tu gran amor y tu fidelidad.

11 O LORD, do not withhold Your mercy from me; Your loving devotion and faithfulness will always guard me.

11 ¡Señor, no alejes de mí tu misericordia! Mi única esperanza está en tu gran amor y fidelidad.

12 For evils without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.

12 Son tantos los problemas que me rodean que no los puedo ni contar. Se han acumulado tanto que no me dejan encontrar la salida. Son más que los cabellos de mi cabeza. Mi corazón se debilita.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; hurry, O LORD, to help me.

13 ¡Te lo ruego, Señor, líbrame! ¡Pronto! ¡Ven a ayudarme!

14 May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated.

14 Sean avergonzados y humillados aquellos que tratan de aniquilarme. Huyan deshonrados aquellos que se deleitan en mis problemas.

15 May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

15 Que se llenen de horror y de vergüenza porque dijeron: ¡Ya lo tenemos!

16 May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “The LORD be magnified!”

16 Pero que el gozo del Señor se derrame sobre cuantos lo aman, y buscan la salvación que él da. Que siempre exclamen: «¡Cuán grande es Dios!».

17 But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay.

17 En cuanto a mí, pobre soy, y menesteroso, pero en este instante Dios piensa en mí. ¡Dios mío, tú eres mi auxilio! Tú eres mi salvación. ¡Ven pronto, y sálvame! ¡No te demores, por favor!
